I guarantee the Pirates would sell out PNC every game if they were consistently competitive. It is my favorite ballpark and I love the atmosphere around there. Imagine how it would be sold out. Steelers fandom lite.

They ran it on Late Night last night. I believe it also suited on USA today. They had a short one at the end of Gold Zone yesterday.
I baffles me why they buried the montage in Late Night. Maybe they thought viewers would leave with a long credit roll because half the people in this country have the attention span of a squirrel.
I posted the BBC montage on another thread and it got me emotional.

This Summer Olympics was probably the best I’ve seen and the most I’ve watched since London 2012. I wish NBC would do a closing montage with Ode To Joy like ABC used to back in the day.

No one wanted it the last time LA hosted it in 1984 and it invigorated the Summer Olympics to where we got another one only 12 years later and cities were nearly bankrupting themselves to bid and host future games. Maybe we see LA get better again with 2028. Olympic host bidding is now pretty much confined to cities with facilities already built or nearly done.

They don't get paid enough to do their job without tips.
Same as with servers then. Find a job that pays more. It’s their fault for doing a job for less than what they should be getting paid.
A lot of food delivery drivers jump right into the job after they lose their prior job because all you have to do is submit info and a background check and within a day or two you can work. It's much faster than applying to entry level places and waiting for a call and an interview. Those people normally do it when they are in-between jobs while waiting for their normal line of work.

Then don't order Doordash and go get it. Only desperate Dashers will take an order with no tip. Doordash doesn't pay great but people are out there trying to make a living when they are in-between jobs.
I have been driving for DD on and off for the last year only for little material things and when I have that month or two gap in military Active Duty pay and retired pay/VA disability, (one of them is College Football 25 for XBox). My area north of Tampa is pretty easy and safe because of all of the new build neighborhoods, retail, and apartments. My rule is I only do orders where it is at least $1 a mile or at least $5 just so I don't give the satisfaction to "no-tippers". Out of all of the times where I did an order where I saw no tip, only 5% of them gave me a cash tip. When I have ordered Doordash myself, it makes you put in a tip and if you don't want to tip, you have to pick "other" and put zero. Knowing this is why I don't do any no tip orders.

re: For the vets - what was your best/worst command (base)?
Posted by jerseyfla on 6/10/24 at 6:49 am
I'm Air Force, 1 July is my retirement date.
Best Base: MacDill AFB, FL. It's home for me, we have 2 Joint combatant commands, and the base is beautiful on Tampa Bay.
Worst Base: Robins AFB, GA. Crappy base is in a shithole town south of a ghetto arse city (Macon). Leadership sucked overall.

re: John Facenda narrated tennis, not just football.

Facenda narrated a lot of sports highlight films besides NFL Films including baseball, basketball, and college football. NFL Films and Tel-Ra Productions were both based out of the Philadelphia area. You also heard other Philadelphia area voices doing NFL and Tel-Ra Films including Harry Kalas voice of the Phillies and Jefferson Kaye who was the booth announcer for the ABC station in Philadelphia and did all of the Super Bowl Highlight Films in the late 80s and early 90s.

My favorite show is Seinfeld but there are a couple that come to mind for me.
I was a teenager then but it made me crack up.
Drew Carey Show-Drew's Fart Tape
I saw this on TV Land thought this was hilarious.
Mary Tyler Moore-Mary laughs at Chuckles the Clown's funeral

She is a phony. When she was on Dr. Phil a couple of years ago, she barely cursed. Someone even posted on Youtube or Tiktok how she laughed at her own ticks and only ticked at convenient times on video.

I looked at Caitlin Lawrence’s bio. She is from the same state as that dude! KALB couldn’t find any other young out of school meteorologist who is better looking or even dresses better for TV? From the Google Images I see, that woman is wearing the same kind of shirt every day?

re: What local and national news, sports and weather broadcasters did you grow up with?
Posted by jerseyfla on 9/12/23 at 5:19 am
When I was born until Age 8 it was New York City
News: Jack Cafferty and Sue Simmons on Live at Five and then Chuck Scarborough with Sue Simmons on WNBC News 4 New York
Sports: Len Berman
Weather: Dr. Frank Field who just died at 100 and then Al Roker
Age 8 until 18 in Tampa
News: WFLA Channel 8 (NBC) Bob Hite and Gayle Sierens who was a sports anchor prior to that and is the ultimate trivia question as the first female play-by-play announcer in NFL history.
Sports: Chris Thomas (The only sports anchor in the area who would call the Bucs, Lightning, and Rays out for being crap when they were bad.)
Weather: David Grant and then Steve Jerve
When WTVT Channel 13 got bought by Fox from being a CBS affiliate in 1994 I watched their news at 10pm and still do for most newscasts.
I enlisted in the Air Force and am retiring next year. I won't elaborate on all of those locales lol.
National:
News: Tom Brokaw
Sports: Sportscenter until 10 years ago
Weather: Willard Scott then Al Roker

Maybe it's time to challenge the monopoly. NBC and Fox could do it. NBC has at least one useless channel on the weekend in CNBC and I doubt anyone would be unhappy if there were less episodes of SVU and the Chicago stuff on USA.
You could also have Fox broadcast and expand out FS1 and Fox Business on the weekends. The two should band together and assault ESPN and their rodent masters....especially on the college playoff by buying the rights to some bowls like Fox did in the 2000's. The 2008 Sugar Bowl with LSU ( Nat. Championship) was on Fox.
Never have I been happier that my Wolverines and the Big Ten are no longer on ESPN.
I would love for the CFP to leave ESPN for CBS, NBC, Fox, or a combo of those but everyone knows ESPN sucks CFP's dick and ESPN actually has right of first refusal for the CFP when the deal is up in 2025. It wouldn't be so bad if they had put the CFP Semi-Final and Final games on ABC but ESPN won't do that like the other 3 networks would.

re: TulaneLSU's statistical analysis of the merits and ratings of Publix, H-E-B, and Rouses
Posted by jerseyfla on 7/16/23 at 9:49 pm
Take this for what it is. New York born and Florida raised but have been stationed in New Jersey, Florida (x2), Mississippi, Ohio, and Georgia through the Air Force. I am a year from retirement living near MacDill AFB in Tampa.
I unfortunately have never been stationed in Texas where H-E-B is. I only saw it in passing on the bus in Basic Training and my Tech School was up in Wichita Falls which is podunk and didn't have H-E-B. But my Texas friends rant and rave about it!
I was stationed at Keesler 2010-2014 and have been to Rouse's in Ocean Springs, Gulfport, Diamondhead, and Slidell and maybe since OS and Gulfport were old A&Ps they seemed crappy except for the store made seafood and King Cakes.
My wife and I would make a monthly trek to Publix in Daphne and then Mobile when it opened for our PubSub fix and yes there were some Florida based items like Makoto's Japanese Dressings from Melbourne, Joffrey's Bagged Coffee from Tampa, and some local beers like Cigar City Brewing but like TulaneLSU said he is right there aren't many local items.
He definitely has it right that the prices are outragous at Publix and because of that we order our groceries for delivery through Kroger now which we had in Ohio and Georgia. Kroger's store label products to me rival Publix in most aspects. I really hope Kroger gets enough foothold to start building physical stores here in Florida and rival Publix like they do in every state outside of Florida.
Publix is a way of life in Florida. The only other options are Winn-Dixie or Aldi (I never count Wal-Mart as that is not a real grocery store). You pay for the experience at Publix. The stores he visited were probably at least 12 years old or were former Albertson's locations. The real good Publixes are the newest ones in Tampa. They have full on Coffee and Beer bars, Pizza bar, Burrito/Taco bar, and Rice Bowl bar. I think Publix like most stores along with the other 2 mentioned its location specific. You can have an expansive Publix with all of the bars above or a basic Publix with just Bakery and Deli.
And one more thing
Are you on crack comparing Publix Subs to the McDonald's of sub places that smell like "bread fart"? I can name at least 5 sub joints that are better than Subway!

But Publix sandwich-sub bar sadly just does not make the cut. The much ballyhooed subs at Publix fail for me. I tried two and both times I thought Subway made a better sub.

Who picks up Suzy Kolber? I think she is an instant hire for one of the other networks but it's tough being that we are a month away from Preseason football. There is really no room for her right now unless someone unceremoniously demotes a sideline reporter. CBS has Tracy Wolfson who is okay, Fox has Erin Andrews who is pretty good but looks got her the job (and a peephole film), and NBC has Melissa Stark who hadn't done sports for a while before getting hired to replace Michelle Tafoya.

I don't think Wheel makes a diversity pick for host unless it's Maggie Sajak or an "approachable" black guy like Michael Strahan or Alfonso Ribiero.
Out of the Wheel and Jeopardy duo, Wheel is the most watched now since Alex Trebek's passing and the majority of viewers skew older. Both of my grandparents watched Wheel and Jeopardy and now my mom who is in her mid 60s watches every single night. If Wheel's host is a "woke pick", viewership will tank.

If you look at the screens in the Club Suite, it was during a Fox Nation commercial so yes, the picture was horribly timed, it’s a load of crap, and something that the left is trying to make an outrage out of.
