The idea is to invest contributions and let it grow not to use them for your diabetes medications or for a yearly eye exam

In a perfect world, yes. But in the real world, not everyone can stash $8750 and cover medical bills at the same time. Just being able to pay medical bills tax free is a benefit for most Americans. The idea that it's investible and can be withdrawn tax free at 65 is a HUGE benefit, but not attainable for a lot of us.

FTR- I was able to open an HSA this year for the first time, and fortunately, I am able to fully fund it and keep it to invest for this year. I hope to be able to do that next year as well, but we'll just have to see how things go.
Don’t be ‘too good’ for jobs. I’d bet that your local municipality has jobs open- trash man, custodian, etc. They may not be your next career, but they’ll provide salary and benefits in the mean time.

I just had this conversation with my wife last night- I’m not above flipping burgers if it came down to it and that’s literally all I could find.
We did 13-14 a couple of times. The VW Atlas is GREAT on long road trips- plenty of room in the front and middle rows, and lots of cargo space. Small gas tank and below average MPG (18 gal, 16-17 mpg) makes it not as desirable around town, though.

That was it….wow. What a weird arse ending. I have no words. I’m pretty disappointed

Check local banks/Credit Unions- my kids have accounts that pay them $25 every 9 weeks they bring in an A/B report card. I know Chase has one that’s connected to your account, too, but I’m not familiar with any benefits it might offer

They have great fast food burgers but the price really just isn't worth it. I probably only go once or twice a year

I’d much rather get a $14 Baconator combo than a $22 bacon cheeseburger from 5 Guys. Not quite the same, but close enough for $8 less.

Our version growing up had some combination of green beans, peas and/or corn mixed in with the meat. Dad never liked it, so we didn’t have it that often

I made a dish inspired by Shepherd’s pie with diced sweet potatoes on top instead of mashed potatoes. Maybe it was more of a hash, but it was delicious nonetheless.

I don’t want it to be true, but I thought the same thing. Same with what happened to Whitaker’s badge.

The dude with the flag sticking out of his chest- his ‘buddy’ said he got ‘Iwo Jima’d’

Al Hashimi’s seizure disorder from Meningitis :wha:
Bump- strong start to the final season. Deborah singing Tejano music

I seen somewhere if passed the state would lose $10M a year in revenue.

If I'm not mistaken, the $6 sticker cuts out the $4 that the service station received, so they're losing $10MM in revenue, but the state will still get theirs.

Looosiana Bistreaux inside Red River Billiards has the best Poboys in Shreveport/Bossier. He moved from south Shreveport to the Bossier side right by the Brookshire's arena.

Doesn't pay his bills or his taxes- over $500,000 in Judgments dating back to 2024 and several other outstanding law suits that don't have Judgments yet. He's a real POS.

I read some comments from Bill Lawrence on Twitter this week and he said they stuck to the original 3 season plan for the finale and will tell “a completely new story” next season. He assured the cast would all return though.

It wrapped up pretty nicely overall- I guess the Dad story line just vanished just like Dad did, which was probably the point. Things eventually return to normal, only to upset the apple cart when he inevitably returns.

I wonder what 'completely new story' will be told in 1 season? I guess the possibilities are endless.

Such a great, wholesome (mostly) show.

Also has a newer restaurant on Youree that serves both their BBQ menu and a Mexican menu. I forgot about that in my earlier post. Both menus are really good- the 'queso' on the Mexican menu is basically the Au Gratin sauce.

Ki Mexico for Tacos
Marilynn’s Place for poboys. Great patio and great beer selection during this nice weather
Fat Calf for upscale
Fat Tuesday’s downtown or in Bossier for sandwiches/salads
Bodacious Bar & Q has pretty good BBQ.

We need age limits on politicians.

I think this is the hard lesson that we're all learning right now... so many professions have mandatory retirement ages- Why is politics not one of them?

Side note- I noticed last night that on my May Election Ballot, Constitutional Amendment No. 5 is to change the mandatory retirement age for judges in Louisiana from 70 to 75.... NO

Is this show worth starting? Does it show a bunch of dicks like most HBO shows these days?

Not a bunch- just the same Playgirl spread.

I don't think I would want to watch if I had gotten spoilers- part of why it's so good is watching it in real time, then getting spoilers/feedback later.

ll I said was white sauce is not a wide spread thing until recently.

I had never heard of or seen it until Newk's opened in Shreveport back in 2009. If I had to guess, I'd say that's where most people's exposure outside of Alabama came from.

I wouldn't dream of using white sauce on ribs and definitely not on brisket.
I just purchased a Nissan Xterra for my High School Senior over the summer. It's a 2012 with 126,000 miles on it. The seller sent me the Carfax, we met and took it for a test drive on city streets and on interstate. He purchased the car with about 20,000 miles on it, so he had receipts for the majority of service done on the car- oil changes, tires, batteries, brakes, etc. He was up front about the car having been in the woods and in fields, so the paint wasn't 100%, but that the car wasn't an off road vehicle (it's 2WD). He was more than willing to let us take it to our mechanic, who we paid $50 to do an overall inspection and to note any possible issues. The mechanic said he didn't see any potential issues and wouldn't have any hesitation buying the car.

The car had been rarely driven over the previous year, so after we got it, I got new tires and a fresh oil change, and so far, so good.

When buying a used car from a private seller, to me, you can generally tell by how they kept up the car- the condition of the interior, exterior, service records kept, etc. Definitely look at CarFax, but don't rely on it because older cars often don't have all the service history input on the website.
This is 1000% not how I expected this show to be after 7 episodes. I have no idea what to expect from the upcoming final episode.
