How?
If not for colonization, they'd at best be living like people in Mongolia.
They would never advance if not for us Europeans.
Seriously?
If aliens from outer space landed tomorrow, killed half of us and herded the rest of us into camps to "advance our society." How would you feel about that?
We may have modernized them but none of them wanted to be modernized at the time.

I saw a big fireworks tent on 190 across from the Lowe's yesterday. Where that skanky used car lot is located. I am pretty sure the good stuff is illegal in St. Tammany though.
I am against the whole Victim obsession thing but will be the first to say we really did frick over the American Indians.

Envision a dude standing on the edge of the lake and throwing your tax dollars into the water.
That image is the answer to your question: "What is going on with this LSU lake project..."

re: My experience in an emergency room awhile back

You know the answer.
My real favorite is the ones that call an ambulance to bring them to the ER. Not because they can't drive there but because they know ambulance patients jump to the front of the line so the ambulance can get released to go back out on the street.
A double stress on the system. Minor ailments tie up an ambuclance, ambulance crew and clog the ER with priority patients who should be sitting in the waiting room.
Larger hospital systems have instituted what is basically a Doc In A Box system next to the ER to handle tummy aches and colds. But you have to be a really large system to have the personnel to handle that.

This is a pretty significant statement.
Would be interested to know what happened and why.

"The comments I’ve gotten so far are that people seem to be appreciative that we are living up to our responsibility," Sheriff Smith told WWL. "The case was given away for political reasons, and it really should never have been given to the state police. So, we are just trying to return it back to where it should have always been."

OR… he put it in the truck bed and left. Someone stole it after they saw him put it in there and now you are sending all kinds of bad Karma to some innocent dude.

People will blame the shark. It's just doing shark things. Can't be mad at it.

I always say that people forget the golden rule: When a human enters the ocean we are no longer at the top of the Food Chain.

Legit thread title. All I got.

Award for "Excellence In Sanitation" - ???
Most people don’t realize this but disease and infection killed WAY MORE troops in war than the enemy. Back in the day, before modern understanding of the issue, it was common for troops to be crapping and pissing next to where the food was being made. They only recently got this under control. Hence the award for Excellence in Sanitation. May sound dumb but was huge important.

How do you let someone who is obviously that confrontational get that close to you? You could see what was about to happen. He should have put her head through that countertop as soon as she rared back to swing.

This was my thought. It isn't like she stole $25k or even $100k and blew it on something. This was $1.8 million for someone who is basically a bookkeeper and office manager. Everyone must have known something was up at some point in this.
