re: How did you know when you crossed over into "old man" territory.

I heard an old guy once say: “Growing old ain’t for pussies.”
I now know what he meant.

re: RE: the maintenance worker in Orleans prison that was threatened and helped the escapees

A buddy of mine got tossed in there one Mardi Gras for being an arse to NOPD while drunk. We went down there to bond him out at about 4:00am and they couldn’t even his paperwork. They took us back there to a giant cell in central booking packed with people to point him out. Over in the corner three deputies were beating the hell out of a guy and the deputy escorting us glanced over and just ignored it.
We pointed out buddy out, he let him out of the cell and said “get the frick out of here.” Away we went. No bond, no paperwork, nothing. I believe any story about that place that anyone tells me. Especially that the deputy working that area left to “get some dinner” and no one took over supervision of the area.

Get the kids candy and snacks. They are amazingly different around the world.
re: Siracusa, Sicily - Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Appears my hotel is on the Island of Oritgia and is 400 meters from the Temple of Apollo. So it looks like I have a starting point.

Those guys are in Puerto Rico by now.
They were talking on national news this morning about how these guys have definitely fled the state by now and I laughed.
These aren't arch criminals with vast resuorces. A big trip for them would be getting to Baton Rouge. Maybe Houston if they really want to go full gangsta.
These guys will be snatched up in a couple of weeks when they think the heat is off and they go back to the same streets and hang outs they have been at their whole life.
Siracusa, Sicily - Any suggestions?
Posted by jbgleason on 5/19/25 at 10:31 am
I am going to be in Siracusa, Sicily for five days. I usually research and plan my trips better but life got in the way and I am flying blind.
I have a hotel and that is it.
Any suggestions for food, drink, places or things to see would be appreciated.
I am planning to stay close to town mostly but am open to renting a car for a day and cruising the island if it's worth it.

No offense but Weatherspoon’s is a chain and to be avoided.
Agree 100% that’s why I was saying the atmosphere there sucks but it will be the best pint prices in the all of London.
TRUTH. Sat down there for a quick beer because it was across from the station and I was waiting on people to arrive. Table next to me filled up with people, all from Baton Rouge. We all got suckered in.

I was of mixed feelings seeing this.
60 minutes is a piece of shite show that has been caught MULTIPLE TIMES editing stories for effect and/or outright making shite up.
Happy to see South LA getting a positive spin.
What the hell is going on with that fiddle players hair? Neven seen a dreds on top of the head, shaved sides, pulled back into some kind of crazy man bun before.

If it’s more than $500, it’s not a Purse - it’s a Bag. That’s all I got.

Now let’s do an article on the plaintiffs attorneys and some of their lavish expenditures. Which one has a helipad on his building in Baton Rouge?

I thought the amazing headline would be “Man NOT shot in New Orleans East.”

Is someone going to post a link to the damn video or not? I am not social media savvy enough to look it up but I certainly would like to see what all the fuss is about.

Good thread. As someone who did this for a living for many years, I have one comment.
If you are going to field close a wound like that, be damn sure you clean and disinfect it first. If you close up some foreign debris in there, you are in for a not fun experience once the infection starts. And don't do this with a dog bite. They are nasty and will need to be cleaned more than once. We never closed those.

I did appreciate how he waited 24 hours to post this. It’s lame when the OP and Response Thread are right next to each other.

Two places you can drink at 8:00am and not be judged. Mardi Gras and airports. Fact.
