It is an interesting cultural commentary that 100+ years ago no one batted an eye at much olde men (who had resources) marry very young women. If you look back through your family genealogy I bet you see a man lose a wife or two and get remarried to a MUCH younger woman and then get back to having kids. We also used to routinely marry off 15 year olds. Now these sort of things are heavily frowned upon. Im not making a case for or againts in this post (I will save that for another time). Just stating the facts.
What’s your point? We also used to think slavery was ok and that kids could work in dangerous factories and mines. We’ve kind of evolved as a society a bit…

Maybe he'll score a point in the second half next year, because he lead ZERO scoring drives in the second half of any game last year. Rattler is not good, if you can't see it, you're blind.
I don’t know if taking a QB was the best move, but I know Rattler is not the guy.

This would be my preference.

Per ESPN. I agree. This draft is QB weak! Wait until next year and see what we have in Rattler. Build the team for the next quarterback whoever that is.
The hard part of all of this is how much not having a QB pushes your timelines back. If you don’t have a QB you don’t have anything. Wait a year? What if that QB doesn’t work out. Missing out on a good QB is much worse than any other position. Playing the numbers game it makes sense to keep taking one until you find one.
re: That's it, Trade the farm for Cam Ward
Posted by higgsBoson on 3/19/25 at 11:27 am
Yeah it would probably be 2 firsts and two thirds or something. Worth it imo if Moore thinks Ward is his guy. You go for the QB you want. There’s plenty of other draft picks we have to rebuild the roster.

Carr’s contract is literally the biggest individual cap issue on the roster so
Exactly. Carrs contract is why we can’t rebuild. We’re basically forced to extend everyone and run it back.

Yeah the leftist bastion of Dallas… Republicans don’t like dissent much either. Just look at anyone who crosses Trump.

You are correct, too many picks for too few roster spots. But they can sell picks or trade for future picks. Presti is great at getting value for anyone. The other day he took a player who he ended up cutting (takes on the salary) and got a 2nd round pick out of it for the favor.
The too many picks is overblown. They’ve pushed beyond those issues. They have so many picks they can just overpay and it won’t make a dent.

My question is why didn’t Griff recognize this. They all knew these new rules were coming. It’s not hard to see what repercussions would be there. And it was obvious that BI was a bad fit here. He got scared to pull the trigger and cost us a lot.

He played like straight arse in the play-in and he refused a $40M/year extension offer from us in the offseason. BI tanked his own value. Sure, it's possible we could have traded him for Scoot a year prior, but we'd all still be saying Griff is trash right now if he had done that. I'm not saying he isn't trash, but I don't know what else we could have expected to get right now
I really wanted to trade him for Scoot two years ago. That would have been a better haul but we don’t know the full details. There was talk Portland and Charlotte wanted more assets than just BI. Likely it would have been BI + picks or BI + Dyson. Now in hindsight BI + a first or Dyson for number 2 or 3 last year is much better than what we actually ended up doing if you combine the BI and Murray trades. And yes again we wasted a bunch of assets waiting too long. But in isolation this trade is good.

which makes no fricking sense. Dallas is one of the biggest cities and metro areas in the country
The only way it makes sense is if they want to couple their team with a casino. As in put a casino into the arena. They’ll never be able to do that in Dallas.

Exactly. Comparing this to Zion makes zero sense.

Can’t see Manning leaving college until ‘27 anyway. This will be his first year completely taking the reins and being “one and done” as a starter doesn’t seem to be in that family’s DNA.
I agree. He’s being projected as the first pick but the family doesn’t need money so they probably want him to finish his eligibility. He will have graduated though I’m sure. My feeling is if he has a monster year he’ll go. If it’s even just a great year he’ll stay.

Yes, when you trade for a guy and he breaks his hand in the first game of the season and misses 17 games then at the mid point of the season he tears his Achilles it is a disaster. No one’s fault, but still a disaster. Achilles is the worst injurty there is for a basketball player.
As others stated, given what we have up in picks and Dyson, it was going to look very bad in a couple of years. The team clearly wasn’t built to compete and trading those assets without a BI trade lined up to recoup assets looks horrible even without the injury. It’s clear now Murray is not on our timeline and so it’s more wasted picks.

You do realize Dyson would still be in college if he followed Herbs track. What was he shooting at Bama his last year? Give me those numbers, against amateurs. There’s a reason he dropped to the 2nd after being the SEC player of the year and SEC defensive player of the year.
Dyson has a ton of upside and it sucks to lose him for a win now move. The NBA unfortunately is more like the lottery than any other sport. You really can’t predict it

That is delusional levels of hope. Herb will never be a #3. And a Zion-Herb-Missi core will never work in today’s game. You can’t get enough spacing from Trey and whatever draft pick.
Missi can’t play 30+ minutes a game sure. But center by committee with big and small lineups always makes sense. We have potential seven foot center who can play with our guys which is big. We definitely need more shooting.
And I’m not sure how delusional it is. I’ve given up hope on a championship. If we hit in the draft the next few years we can have a solid team.

im still listening to offers this summer for him. If it’s a solid deal, you pull the trigger. We’ve been saying the same thing for 2+ years with Zion with the same outcome of an uncertain path. If there’s a good deal, make the move.
100% Zion is no longer who I build all my hopes on but I’m not expecting a good enough offer to be worth giving up on Zion. If there is one I definitely take it.

The Murray trade was a massive disaster, especially with his injury. Another short sighted win now move that will cost us dearly. Doing that trade without a BI one in your pocket was one of the worst moves we’ve made.
However, given Dysons comments he clearly didn’t like it here so…

Zion is only 24 years old. You don’t give up on that and we literally have nothing else to spend the money on.

We have a contending level post season surrounding cast. But we don’t have a contending level #1 or #2, so the surrounding cast means frick all. The Dejounte injury makes me more inclined to get max value for Herb now or this summer.
Murray was a win now move that I think was short sighted. I don’t see him as part of this young core.
You keep Trey and Herb and Zion and then you try to get a number one between Zion growing up or your draft picks the next few years.
Trey can grow into your number two. Herb is a good number three. Then you just need Missi to grow into a legit starting C and some role players
