What lessons? You're assuming that they now believe they made a mistake. They got the player they wanted and all it cost them was this year's 8, and none of the guys available at that time during the draft seem better than their guy. So, what lesson did they learn? If anything it convinced them to do more deals like that.

But they didn’t when they clearly had multiple options to get “their” player in Ament. We don’t know if they learned a lesson or if last year was an exceptional moment because they really believe in Queen (I don’t by the way). Basically just to say we have no idea and there hasn’t been any good reporting on what this front office thinks.

I really don't understand people not wanting jaylen brown. Would people not want Tatum? It makes zero sense.

It’s more about what would be required to give up. Multiple good picks and Trey our best asset. So then when Brown leaves or his body breaks down we haven’t added enough new young players for Fears and Queen as the future. And then we’re spending so much on Brown the rest of the roster will have to be cheap because we can’t go into the tax. It’s not about Brown who I’d love to have. Frankly though it’s fine by me if they do it because that team would be more fun to watch.

nba salary cap is retarded but trey's deal and his potential/production is about as good as it gets.

Exactly. Treys deal is so good that the length increases its value because it’s further from having to pay his next much bigger deal.
quote:

IMO Trey is a player you want your new coach to coach and develop and see what you got. We have talent. We just have to put it together.

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that a full rebuild if it ever happens won’t happen for a bit, but I’m struggling to see evidence of a team running back the same roster and a new coach dramatically changed them.

I can see it both ways. I can easily see a scenario where he overvalued Trey and Herb pretty heavily. Or maybe there wasn’t any good offers on the table and he didn’t force it. Personally, I think the first is more likely. It would have been nice to add another guy to add to Fears, Queen, and Missi. But there’s also the age old saying that these picks were more valuable than the players that were actually selected with them.

Yeah it makes sense the way it happened. We can see how the season plays out. Their contracts are long enough and I don’t see either forcing their way out. So we can see either if we’re ahead of schedule or can dump at the deadline.
Probably a better idea to trade this year than last though. We should rebuild. Every year Trey and Herb lose value. They’re our only assets. We need to get younger to be on Fears and Queen timeline.

The issue w pick 5 is this is considered a top 4 heavy draft. Now, I do personally like Acuff and the Keaton dude, but not entirely sure how they fit in with Fears. Acuff especially would be a tough fit. So would we be trading to 5 to pick Ament or Mara still? I'd hope not.

Yeah but the number 5 pick this year might be a number one pick in a weaker year. 1-10 in this draft will have a ton of good players. If we get number five I’d be stoked.

think Milwaukee easily wins the trade. Miami doesn’t have depth or a closer. Giannis can’t close games bc he can’t make FTs. Plus he’s getting older and more injury prone

Yeah Miami winning this was not the smartest move. Boston had more to gain by pairing him with Tatum.

Trey is better shooter and better locker guy than Kum, but Kum is very explosive and good at times and has a lot of potential. He also has valuable playoff experience.

Warriors are my second team. Kuminga is horrible. He’s Poole all over again. The warriors system makes these players. There’s a reason the Warriors couldn’t trade him and a reason Atlanta has been shopping him after one year. Dude is not a winning player.

because no one sees Murphy as the #1 option on a team. He’s not even a second option on good teams. Zion has been paraded as the face of the franchise. We have attempted to build our team around him for 7 years yet we still suck and most of the time he can’t stay healthy. Even when he’s healthy the team still sucks. That’s why

Murphy will be best as the number three option on a championship team and he would be elite at that role. I could see growing into being a number 2, but I don’t see it. He is the perfect low usage elite role player. That’s why he’s so valuable. But for us when we don’t have a number one or number two yet Trey doesn’t make sense. It’s better to trade him and get assets to help us find a number one and two. Maybe we have them with Fears and Queen but their timelines don’t line up with Trey.

ETA: with the right number one Trey can grow into a really good number two as well. He would just need a very ball dominant player who can create for both of them. And in that setup he’d be a perfect number two. Golden State obviously would be great. Boston with Tatum also.

New Orleans is a world class city. It’s not great to live in but let’s be honest, it’s one of the most famous cities in the world. His dig is not at New Orleans, his dig is at this franchise. It’s a fricking dumpster fire. You think anyone is excited to live in San Antonio? No, but they’d be excited to go to an organization like the Spurs. Winning cures everything.

Yeah this whole argument blaming players for wanting glamour markets is so silly. No one is wanting out of San Antonio or OKC right now and those cities are definitely worse than New Orleans. It’s all about the franchise and how successful they are at setting up players to succeed. All our castoffs are doing bigger and better things once leaving NO.

Republicans gave up the right to say this a long time ago when Trump started attacking anyone who tried to assassinate or emulate assassinating him. Not to mention the others (Scalise)

Like Bill Cassidy? Y’all are so silly honestly.

Republicans gave up the right to say this a long time ago when Trump started attacking anyone who mocked or opposed him.

Curry during that time went from making 0 to 410 million dollars plus the opportunity to make a ton of money off the court while taking on no risk except that of his body during games. These guys don’t want to be exposed to any of the downside but think they are owed a piece of everything.

I don’t get what you’re saying. He’s complaining that players aren’t allowed to have ownership stakes in the team while playing. Implicit in his comment is that some players would deserve this and get paid this if it was allowed. And having equity in the company as part of your salary directly exposes you to the upside and downside of the industry. And this is not something very crazy. Anyone at any company making as much salary as them would have a massive portion of it be based on equity. It’s really that sports are the outlier.

REALLY don’t want to trade up. I feel like no matter what happens in front of us, we’ll get a great player.

I don’t know if it’s right and maybe it’s all a smoke screen, but all of the intel is that there’s not many elite players in this draft. That’s the way it seems to me as well.

LOL if you thought we had a chance at him.

Is UNC really better than an NBA job?

Obviously Jaylen Brown would be awesome and slightly realistic but people would freak for what we'd spend.

Did I miss something? Why is Jaylen Brown slightly realistic?

Miami Heat is the most obvious

Miami makes the most sense if they want to go all in they have the best offer outside of OKC. I don’t see them or San Antonio interested though. They both are better off holding on to assets in order to preserve a longer run.

Knicks Warriors Boston Spurs ??

I didn’t think it would be possible before but I think the Warriors. The Warriors are super desperate and won’t mind giving up everything for Giannis. The post Curry picks will be amazing and Giannis isn’t 27 anymore. As good as he is he’s not worth what he was. GS will overpay and that will get it done. Curry will convince Giannis to be happy with the move as well.

Yall need to calm down with this shite. You have a completely new offensive line, qb, and receivers.
Uhh and a new system that 95% of the team will not only have to learn, but master it to have a CFP caliber team.[/quote]

People doubting this team need to calm down. This is the new CFB. Ole Miss redid their entire roster and made it to top 4. LSU will be competitive next year.
