Why didnt we ever build around Taysom more?

This idea needs to stop. No one was ever building an offense around Taysom. He was never going to be an NFL starting QB.

Get off the cross. That trade was lambasted by everyone, media and this forum included. I've defended it, and still will. But there aren't many in my camp, and that's OK. If you got down votes, which who cares?, I'm sure it was for other reasons. We literally have 4-5 new threads (that are never original) every week that rehash how bad the trade was. You aren't alone..

There was a very loud vocal minority defending this trade non stop. It was pretty annoying when it clearly was a terrible trade. Being contrarian at that level is very annoying because the arguments for it were complete nonsense.
What he did at Oklahoma saying was legitimately impressive. It’s clear he’s not a grinder though and wanted to go to a less intense job.

As a Registered Independent (#humblebrag)- i knew it was only a matter of time before the Maga political insanity infected LSU sports.. The future of the football team is now very bleak .. this is why we cannot have nice things.. but hey, at least y’all voted for this .

People on both sides are just completely delusional about the job performance of their favorite candidate / party. It’s nice though that LSU football is breaking through that for some people lol.

In any high stakes game or high value product with marketability the shake up in administration happens but it doesn’t stop you from taking the job. The product is good. The resources are good. It’s a new opportunity to evolve. From a sales point of view. We have a proven product and high level of investment on futures. So a VP and Manager got tossed…so what. That doesn’t change the market value or potential. Any coach worth a shite will see that and jump. We are on the precipice of greatness, if you’re scared jump in a row boat.

The fastest way to get mass turnover in an org is to have the VP leave. VPs also pull people into orgs. No one wants to take a high stakes job without really good leadership they know and trust.

Will Borrego be the coach vs. Charlotte on Tuesday after we start 0-6? The little optimism shown from the first two games has completely vanished. Another wasted season

Do we know if the players like Borrego? They clearly have checked out Willie but would they play hard for Borrego?

That's the problem... Trey does need the ball in his hands to operate, despite being a terrible ball handler, because his off-ball movement is lazy as frick.

This is where I feel like the right coaching can help. Like the guys don’t look like they know what they should be doing.

Oh it's been plenty debated on here.

I think / hope the argument was Trey could be a more valuable player than BI because he is more efficient and doesn’t need the ball in his hands to operate.

I don’t? How does another rookie going to improve the team this year? Playing two rookies and giving them minutes to develop is only going to generate losses usually. It was always only going to hurt the team short term.

Right. Like adding two rookies, Jordan Poole and Looney are gonna make a bottom five team a playoff team. It’s laughably stupid.

90% of the people on here are idiots. They don’t know anything

90% is too high. I’d say 50% are in denial and 50% are on suicide watch. Everyone deep down knows it’s all fricked but it’s sad knowing there’s literally no end in sight to the stupidity of the ownership.
I never understood the excitement for Poole. This dude has such a bad attitude. And he’s streakier than hell. This team is so unlikable it’s crazy. At least the team a few years ago was likable

Should have traded him we could have probably gotten 3 picks from GS.

They were alluding to it over @ 247

Also Hanny and Moscona both mentioned that Thomas would be leading things with Landry.

Yeah, this keeps getting brought up in multiple threads. I can’t say that when I was younger and less seasoned that I wouldn’t put more emphasis on keeping a recruiting class together, but over time I’ve rarely, if ever, seen it work out. I would absolutely sacrifice a top class first season for the right coach. The quality of players can be addressed very quickly, whereas you’re going to be tied to that HC hire for years.

100% and just remember that Austin Thomas has a lot of say in the roster and can handle things until the new coach is signed. It won’t be perfect but it’s much less dire than years past.

His point is one portal window is minimal and arguably insignificant in the grand scheme of things No one is going to judge you in Year1 anyway. It’s year 2-4 where you get judged

Exactly. Let Austin Thomas do what he can in that portal window and it’ll be ok. If Lane is excited but wants to finish it out that’s ok. That portal class is not important given we have a couple year rebuild anyway.

I live how people act like the LSU coach is going to be around the plebs. He will live in the nicest neighborhood in Baton Rouge and never see the trash. Where he’d live in BR is no different than where he’d live in Gainesville

Yeah I feel like people who didn’t grow up there or maybe just went to LSU or only visit on Saturdays don’t realize that BR has nice places to live just like any city. There’s some incredibly gorgeous neighborhoods with oak trees, golf courses and whatever you want in BR. There’s lakes and garden district are nice semi-urban areas with great communities. And unlike Oxford he can drive to a real city if he wants night life, concerts, world class entertainment. But as others said, he’s not going to be home much. And LSU has a fantastic campus with world class facilities where he’ll spend most of his time.

ETA: if you want to know why LSU over Florida just look at the media narrative when LSU opened up. It’s clear prestige wise LSU is the best job currently open.

Since Lane took over, they have completely turned things around at a school that historically has been bottom dwellers, and put together recruiting classes that have been top notch. And this year, they're in a position to compete for the SEC and National Championship.

Not sure why people discount this so much. Ole Miss has been a terrible program for years. They’ve been bad for 70 years and he has them competing with anyone in the SEC. Sure he hasn’t gotten over the hump but I’m inclined to believe it’s Ole Miss not him.

I think the LSU job is the top choice for somebody looking to make a move. The biggest downside would be uncertainty about the administration. If it were to become known that major boosters want Woodward out with only an interim president in place, candidates won't know who they would be working for. In fact, a new president might decide to replace the AD anyway. I don't have a good feel for how significant that will be. Good luck with the search.

I’m worried about this. There’s some security in knowing the ADs job is tied to you.

Lane is the type of guy who seems like he wants to do something that’s never been done or in OM’s case hasn’t been done since Archie Manning was a boy. He also knows one of his mentors and a former colleague have already done it here. USC was a different pull because it was his dream job.

Lane dos es not seem that guy at all lol. Lane seems like the guy who wants to win at all costs. He’ll come to LSU if he thinks it will help him win more games. He was complaining during an interview about Ole Miss NIL. He mentioned how LSU has paid for a good roster and “that’s what you have to do to win.” If he thinks LSU or anyone else can take away all those money issues he’ll leave. He doesn’t want to recruit. He doesn’t want to manage the roster he wants to coach thats exactly the guy we want. He has ties with Austin Thomas too…
