re: Has there ever been a head coach fired that never had a losing season?
Posted by Loftonbranch on 11/16/15 at 8:00 pm
Pat Dye got fired at Wyoming. He went to interview at Auburn as a dark horse candidate and Wyoming AD found out and fired him. By the time he got to his interview, he was actually unemployed, which put him in a terrible situation because he was a long shot for the Auburn job. He saved his butt with the best answer ever in a job interview. At the time, Bama was on top of the world and had dominated Auburn for decades with Bear Bryant. At the conclusion of his interview, Dye was asked, "if you are hired, how long will it take you to beat Alabama"? His reply..."60 minutes"

Apples and oranges. Henry will play at least three more games than Herschel got to play. Herschel literally had Olympic sprinter speed. For those that didn't get a chance to watch him, you will never understand. Herschel was, is, and always will be the GOAT from the SEC.

The best player to come out of Louisiana in the past ten years was Greg Robinson, the no. 2 pick in the draft.

Parker Bugg is not playing in Alaska. Taking summer off and trying to gain muscle.
re: Best local fishing spots around Auburn?

I'll bite on this because I will probably never go back to Auburn. Graduated in 96 but live too far away now. What I'm about to share is priceless to the right person. The first spot is Chambers County Lake. Go to the creek that discharges from the lake. Follow it downstream until you come to a small waterfall with a big pool. Unbelievable fishery. The second spot is Gold Hill. There is a pond up that way. I won't say anything more about its location. But there is a guy that owns it who is really cool. If you bring him some filets, he will let you fish it. Good luck.

Russell Springer coon hunts in Grant Parish, where the men are men, and the women are too.

And to say that Malzahn didn't run the HUNH in 2010 is silly. Malzahn is the pioneer of the HUNH. That's like saying the Pope is not Catholic. The fact is that Auburn won the NC in 2010 with a subpar defense with only one playmaker (Nick Fairly), but absolutely the best offensive player that money could buy.

Nick Marshall holds the record for most passing touchdowns in Georgia prep history. He's not just a random DB that was stuck behind Center.

Manny Diaz. La Tech had the worst defense on the planet and he made them a force.

Mullen is not going to Michigan. Mullen will land in Florida. Foley whiffed on Muschamp (and Zook), and he won't be unilaterally making this call. If our staff wants any State prospects, they will get a second chance.
As for Freeze, that ain't happening. The dude was born in Oxford, and his first college job was at Ole Miss. He's right where he wants to be.

Presuming that Mullen leaves for Florida, these Ms. State recruits will be low hanging fruit.
re: Baseball Scrimage #11 10-20-14

Senior year of high school. He was topping out at 91 as a junior in high school, and then at the beginning of his senior year, he hurt his arm. He missed all of his high school senior year and redshirted last year at LSU rehabilitating.

I saw your post saying he topped out at 91. However, one of the players told me he hit 93. Regardless, he is recovering nicely from his Tommy John surgery.

Heard that Stallings (redshirt freshman) hit 93 on the gun last Friday. He comes from the same parish that produced Russell Springer (Grant). I expect him to be a solid contributor the next four years.
re: Does a 3yo need a ticket?

Valid question. For baseball game, three and younger do not need a ticket. However, when I asked about football, the response from ticket folks was, "if they have a soul, they need a ticket."

Find it ironic that with as much success as we have had with Dual Threat QBs, we seem to be doing better with the pocket passers.
re: Is there a waiting list for baseball season tickets?
Posted by Loftonbranch on 6/25/14 at 8:38 pm
Last year I set up a new TAF account with my company. I contributed $100 to set up the account, and then got on the waiting list. I got a pair of tickets in the home run bleachers and a permanent parking pass.

It is not uncommon for everyone on the waiting list to be offered at least a pair of tickets. I would encourage you to take a shot; it only costs you $10 to get on the list.
