I’m in SE Alabama. I’ve killed several what you would call good ones for around here. I’ve passed on several that others would probably shoulder mount, but I bet on the deer making it and possibly being bigger the next.

The last buck I shoulder mounted was in 2020. I just have skull capped them since and got the flesh off myself and screwed them to cheap plaques from hobby lobby that I’ve stained.

I feel an out of state trip will be required for me to kill one big enough to shoulder mount.

Well I’ve been researching for a new pup as well. I grew up with a yellow lab and then when I was in high school I got a black female for Christmas. I think she helped me win over my now wife. Her and I also got a chocolate female later on.

When our daughter was born a month or so late we had to put the black one down(she was 14). Then, 3 years later after our son was born we had to put the chocolate down at 6(bladder cancer)

I spent a 1/2 hour on phone with Mark yesterday afternoon and this morning I put a deposit down on a chocolate female.

Have had the Savage A17 since it came out. Great for letting kids shoot at the range before a deer rifle. It’s my truck gun around the farm as well. Have killed pigs, coyotes, armadillos, headshots on squirrels.

Dale Co is right up the road from my house. If you don’t turkey hunt, I know someone (myself) that would pay to

How was your season in S Alabama this year btw. Mine was terrible, not sure if it was increased hunting pressure late start, my shitty calling or what but turkeys were off. 2 killed all year, and just one was mine

His brother (me) killed 4 and called up 8 others to friends
I’ve got a G40 with upgraded KKM barrel and compensator. Put a heavier spring in it as well. It shoots great

Our taxidermist makes them. He’s now killed 104 turkeys with a bow and doesn’t use a blind. The tail fan is on a door hinge so you can run fishing line to it in states where it’s legal. Her in AL I tie it upright. I modified him slightly. Painted head more white and I hung a pair of croc nuts under him to establish dominance to other turkeys. He also has a band.

Here is a pic of him and the bird we got Saturday

Awesome. A few years ago I was the first one to document one in our county. Was actually the 3rd one I’d ever seen. It was eating another non venomous snake. Talked to the biologist for an hour.
