I'm still sad this is no longer the mascot. It was way tougher than a frickin' cute pepper.

He clarified that he was talking about the reference to "Louisiana," not Robe. That, too, is dumb, but don't make this bigger than it is.

This thread notwithstanding, the majority of the insecurity seems to come west of the basin.

Same. Love UL a lot even though I went to LSU. Always cheer for them when they're not facing the Tigers. But the constant whining about LSU by a vocal minority of fans annoys the crap out of me, as does the serious ish-talking they do about other Louisiana schools. You hear them talking trash about Tech and ULM and Tulane all the time when that's exactly what they complain LSU fans do to them.

The majority of the parochial schools did not want the split and have been fighting to reverse it.

Same, actually - underdogs and Louisiana schools. I’m pulling for UL; I just don’t see them winning this one. But if they do, so much the better!

I don't think it'll be a blowout for sure, and that's a nice chunk of change. Nothing but good can come out of this for the Cajuns.

This is entirely too level-headed a response for this forum. Go back and add some cursing and ranting.

That's throwing shade without looking like you're throwing shade. Most Catholic schools do not give full scholarships any more - they all require the family to contribute something - and they require work in exchange. Are there people and schools who skirt the rules? Certainly. Is it enough to explain the difference in performance. Nope.
And public and private schools can't compete for the top trophy anyway, so it's a bit ridiculous to complain that public schools are at a disadvantage.
Stop. The. Insanity.

Correct. Louisiana is the real deal with Napier and will have a KILLER year next year, but right UT would still win next season.

Agree with your post, but I'll note that Guice lived with the counselor because she wanted to adopt him (but Guice's bio mom wouldn't consent), not because she was trying to keep him playing football at CHS. She eventually left the school because she wanted to have him at home more than she wanted to work at the school.

And if Catholic High is like 99% of the Catholic schools in the state, the kids who are there on scholarship have to actually WORK in the summer. It's not like it's a college athletic scholarship where you get tuition in exchange for playing.

Like one new public school in Lafayette Parish... How many kids suddenly found their new address in Youngsville?
re: STM vs De LA Salle Championship Game
Posted by reagancajun on 12/30/20 at 12:32 pm
STM has that many players because they don't have to try out; everyone who wants to can join. Many of those are kids who will never see the field, including students in Options (the program for kids with special needs).

UT by a country mile (or acre).

How would that be?
And STM has fought like hell to get both private and public together again. It’s not like they want to be big fish in a small pond.
