I think the only people making money on that are:
1) Professionals working at large hedge funds.
2) Snake oil salesmen telling other people how they can make money doing it.

This is one of the weirdest trolls I've ever seen.

Hold up. Is this real? Who puts random climbing grips or whatever they are all around their house? This is weird. Do you swing from grip to grip to move around? Do I just not understand this because I'm not a climber guy?

TigrrrDad - do you have a background in finance? Just a genuine question, no ulterior motive.

Ally Financial has savings accounts that offer 2.25% interest, and they're very easy to set up. No extra fees for withdrawing or anything. I'd suggest that.

Does this penny pot stock stuff remind anyone else of crypto?

Public is hard on the Chargers covering. Staying away from Tom Brady and Belichick. Could see them winning by 10 or losing by 10. No clue which Pats team we'll get.

Rams -7 and no idea what happens with the rest.
Saints +8 is a lot to cover. Could see Saints being up by 10 with game in hand and Eagles kicking a FG to cover. Or up by 14 and Eagles score late TD to cover.

Why do you think hedge funds that manage billions with armies of sharp analysts that spend 10+ hours a day researching don't know about this trade?
re: O&G Sector Guys/Baws/Dolls: Domestic Production. Do We HAVE To Import Right Now?
Posted by raw dog on 1/9/19 at 2:50 pm
The industry didn't back itself into it.
When the refineries were first built, the U.S. was not producing enough oil. That's why the majority of refineries are near coasts, to import oil, because we didn't have enough. So they were built to handle the type of oil that they could import from Venezuela, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, etc.

Why wouldn't we be retrofitting existing refineries to handle our own oil rather than someone else's?
I don't think you can just retrofit a major refinery to change its whole configuration to run a vastly different type of crude. Think you can probably just make adjustments around the edges. These types of investments would take several years and hundreds of millions of dollars.

Short answer - We will always have to import due to the grade of oil we produce domestically, it simply isn't the right type of crude to fill a lot of our refineries.
Export light oil
Import heavier oil
