And to everyone complaining about LSU's night games: For decades, 7 p.m. kickoffs were our tradition, not a special privilege.

Imagine LSU thriving independently, controlling its brand and media revenue. Alabama and Florida would certainly take notice. Could we start a movement?

Stop asking permission to preserve our tradition. Build a billion-dollar business around it.

And no, I’m not a cooler head to prevail. I want the smoke.

LSU received roughly $72.4 million from the SEC last year. Serious money, but that includes more than television.

Notre Dame reportedly earns about $50 million annually from NBC for six home football games. LSU ranked sixth in 2025 television tracking, averaging more viewers than Notre Dame.

Now add LSU baseball, women’s basketball, gymnastics, LSU+ content, sponsorships and premium games on ABC, Netflix or Prime.

Then there is LSU’s reported investment plan: approximately $100 million for a 9% stake. That implies a company valued near $1.1 billion, with LSU potentially retaining about 80%.

The SEC check provides stability. Owning the media company creates generational upside.

So if the SEC wants LSU gone, it cannot keep making money from LSU after the divorce.

Give us Death Valley. Give us our television rights. Let the bidding begin.

Geaux independent. Geaux national. Geaux build something bigger.

Before the SEC votes, LSU needs to put out a statement in the public putting pressure on every president to ask one question:

“Are you prepared to defend this entire process under oath?”

LSU did not file the eligibility lawsuit. The athletes did, and they won preliminary relief. LSU ultimately did not roster the two players. Yet the SEC still escalated to federal court and raised the possibility of suspending Lane Kiffin, imposing massive penalties and removing a founding member.

If the SEC proceeds, LSU should pursue every available legal and contractual remedy and seek full discovery into when these rules were created, who coordinated them, whether they were consistently applied and what was said behind closed doors.

Every email. Every text. Every phone call. Every vote. On the record.

The athletes’ claims will not disappear simply because LSU filled its roster. Neither will the commercial, contractual and reputational consequences of targeting one of the conference’s most valuable institutions.

The SEC wanted LSU focused on what it could lose. It is time for every SEC president to consider what this escalation could expose and what their own institutions could lose.

That is not a threat. That is accountability.

If the SEC wants a war over transparency, LSU should bring sunlight. Powerful institutions fear nothing more.

As for the Federal Judge*

LSU’s potential remaining cards include:

* Argue that filling the roster undermines the SEC’s claim of an immediate emergency.
* Challenge the SEC’s standing and unusual First Amendment theory.
* Demand discovery of SEC communications, rulemaking and enforcement consistency.
* Challenge any punishment under the SEC constitution and contractual procedures.
* Seek a stay and appeal an adverse order to the Eleventh Circuit.
* Let the athletes continue pursuing their eligibility claims independently.

A judge is held accountable through the record, written findings and appellate review. Recusal or misconduct procedures are appropriate only if there is actual evidence of bias or misconduct, not simply an unfavorable ruling. LSU’s strongest weapon now is disciplined legal pressure.

Strap in. This ain’t going away and we shouldn’t be quick to quit.

I hear you. But knowing that the pressure of it makes us back down lets them take more control.

Suspend Kiffin for what?

We should have kept the roster spots empty.

We don’t have to fill those spots.

The athletes challenged the eligibility rules and won preliminary relief. LSU simply had to decide whether to roster two of them. The SEC responded by threatening LSU’s membership, and LSU filled the two open spots with other players. Wish we didn’t but we did.

Maybe it’s part of a bigger strategy. (Acc, Big12, independent) I hope so. Because if not, the SEC tried to make an example out of LSU, and the pressure worked.

The SEC has more to lose from LSU leaving than it wants people to believe. If this is how it treats a founding member, maybe LSU should consider a future without it.

We don’t wave white flags. Not to Sankey and Alabama judge threats.

Totally pissed. Will never root for any SEC team. Hope we bounce.

The SEC has not proven wrongdoing. It has filed a federal lawsuit filled with allegations, hoping the size of the courtroom scares LSU into surrendering before those allegations are ever tested.

Let’s call this what it is: a massive escalation designed to intimidate. If LSU folds because the SEC filed in federal court, then the tactic worked.

But surrender would not end this fight. Athletes who are directly denied eligibility can still bring their own legal challenges. The SEC may pressure one university, but it cannot prevent every affected athlete from walking into court.

A federal filing is not a federal victory. It is paperwork wearing shoulder pads.

LSU should not confuse noise with strength.

We should seriously explore another conference or independence if it means:

- more autonomy
- get away from Sankey
- control our own TV rights


This is like the HOA going down hard.
