No state income tax, but I’m sure they make it up in property and sales tax. I do believe a lot of people move from CA to TX and that would be attractive. I enjoyed my time in TX, wouldn’t be opposed to going back but again it’s location is key, I’m not pulling up in El Paso.

It’s like any other state, depends on where at in the state you live. Living in Monroe is not like living in grande isle. Nor is living in Longview like living in San Antonio.
