re: “Souls to the polls” in the south
Posted by Chili on 10/27/24 at 1:50 pm
It started within the last 15 years after early voting (absentee in-person voting) was expanded to weekends - Saturdays initially. Local elections officials started doing early voting on Sunday also - souls to the polls. I haven’t seen any evidence of it increasing turnout for Dems. I suspect it’s the same hardcore Black Dems that would vote Democrat anyway.

People have left LSU games early for many years now. You think leaving early means they don’t like LSU too? That’s just stupid. They could be leaving for any reason.

What’s that? 14 fans or so - assuming each gets one slice,
re: Isn’t it strange, the party accused of insurrections stayed calm

The left claiming the justice system “worked” is laughable but expected. Of course, when a jury acquits someone and it doesn’t fit the left’s goals, they promote violence and destruction of public and private property. See, e.g. 2017 St. Louis protests St Louis protests turn violent for third night over acquittal of white officer in police killing
I have no doubt that the left was prepared to start the violent protests if Trump was acquitted. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it crossed the minds of the jurors in making their decision to find him guilty.

re: The Georgia Court of Appeals has *APPROVED* former President Donald Trump’s appeal
Posted by Chili on 5/18/24 at 10:30 am
The Court of Appeals granted an application for discretionary appeal. This is because the denial of the motion did not give them a right to a direct appeal. Granting an application for discretionary appeal doesn’t mean the court is going to rule in their favor. It just means that the court of appeals will allow the appeal to proceed. The parties still have to file appellate briefs and have oral argument, if the court grants oral argument.

You heard wrong. It would go to PAC - the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia and they would take the prosecution role. Similar to what happened with Burt Jones.

49 - 14 was a decent halftime lead, but not as bad as this game. But it was a playoff game.

Any other snippets from the article? What is James Magazine anyway?

Ha. I knew when I saw the article that none would put their actual name on the letter. Spineless. I bet those same people wear masks at “peaceful” protests.

Anyone see this about US Attorney Tom Renz
Are you sure he is a federal US Attorney? I googled the guy and didn’t see it. I don’t disagree that the American people were misled about the origins of covid-19 or the potential risks of the “vaccine” but mistakenly calling the guy a US Atty is quite the oversight.
re: Carville said, “It’s the economy, stupid.” He’s right.

There are so many issues that it makes it easy to lose sight of the obvious. People want to live a good life. The economy still matters for winning the electorate.
re: Voting machines have been shut down in several Pennsylvania districts due to votes flippin

The glitch in Northampton County had little practical effect, as retention of statewide judicial incumbents is nearly automatic in Pennsylvania. Only one judge on any of the state’s three appellate courts has ever been recalled by voters. That was in 2005, when Justice Russell Nigro lost retention in the fallout over legislation that awarded pay raises to state lawmakers and judges.
Seems suspicious.

re: Jenna Ellis... Is she being truthful or is she panicking
Posted by Chili on 10/26/23 at 9:42 pm
The reality is that Trump was down to the C or D team by the time she was making these statements - not the best and brightest. Those allegations about felon voting and dead people voting were not hard to verify. Stupid for her to make that claim. Doesn’t mean it was criminal - just stupid. In way over her head.
