Wow. This thread really went downhill.
Henry also had an Oline that made holes a grandmother could walk through.

Fournette does not.

It really becomes difficult to compare.
Summer of George got it right.

I'm biased towards DMAC. I think we talk about him in the same breath as Herschel, Bo & Barry.

That said, Gurley, Chubb & Ingram took 2 or 3 guys to stop them. Every down.

Tre Mason was so fast, he couldn't be caught when defenses knew in advance where he was going.

Dexter McCluster was misused and under used by Nutt. A rare talent.

Henry is/was a freak of nature.

Never was starry eyed over Lattimore. But the kid was a fine human being.

Fournette needed to be on an offensive powerhouse team, instead of a defensive powerhouse team.

As someone else said, no list is complete without Dixon. Literally irreplaceable for MSU.

Impossible to list just five. But DMAC is number one.

I love college football. SEC football.

Go Hogs!
I don't know who will win the game. But we can't win if we keep shooting ourselves in the foot.

We've done that against the Ages the last two years and they took advantage of it.

We'll see.

Fair enough. The head to head says you're not. Both schools have cost each other West titles over the last 15 years, and the record is tight. Most of the bluster here in this thread has to do with recruiting, which you have to admit, has been in LSU's favor for the last 20 years. I don't think Arkansas will be making serious inroads into LA to the point where you guys are in play for multiple top players, like Bama is. They are able to because of the combination of multiple recent titles, Saban's history in the state, and a run of 5 straight wins. Even with all of this in their corner, they still don't win all of the battles here because of the pull of the home state. Arkansas doesn't have any of those advantages right now. That doesn't mean Arkansas will never get anyone out of LA. However, it's going to take more than 2 wins in a row to win battles for multiple 4 and 5 star guys.

I've mentioned twice today, that Houston Nutt dug us a ten-year long hole. In recruiting. In results. In respect.

During that period, Saban and Miles were putting you guys on the map in a big way.

We have to catch up. I said that too.

There has been push-back from Hog fans in this thread, about those two wins...to match the 'doormat' attitude of some of the LSU fans. Neither side is innocent.

Yes, you ARE out recruiting us. And have been for years. Congrats.

But the 'two wins' says that that isn't all there is to it. On paper, there shouldn't BE 'two wins'.

The 'two wins in a row' doesn't say we're dominant.

It just says we're not your doormat.

If the Hog fan base will let coach BB build this program and be patient until he can get to the 10 win season mark you guys will have a solid program. Right now he is doing it right and slowly year by year. I think in a couple of years the Hogs will be at the top level in the SEC West and I hope my LSU tigers can improve against

Thanks.

I think we're going to be passing the Boot back & forth for as long as Bret stays with us.

Your recruiting this year is just CRAZY.

Interestingly, we may have our best recruiting year ever...and maybe break even with what SEC west does all the time.

It was a BIG hole Nutt dug. It wasn't always this way.

The testosterone is strong with this thread.

LSU has been good for most of this century so far.

Arkansas...has had to dig out of the hole that Houston and Frank dug.

I love my Hogs but I'm not blind. We have some catching up to do.

Still...we're finally lifting ourselves up. We've had some good results the last couple of years and are encouraged with what Coach B is doing.

But ALL of us...are just trying (and so far failing pretty much) to get past Nick. In that, we are all in the same boat.

re: 4* DT Chris Daniels of Euless, TX

Kind of strange situation with Mr. Daniels.

He really doesn't have to OV at Ark. He knows the place very well.

I think our chances are as good as anyone's. Hope we get him.

You guys are assembling one heck of a class.

Congrats.

90's.

Jack Crowe. Joe Kines. Danny Ford.

And Houston Nutt for ten long years.

Thanks a lot, Frank.

Bobby and his motorcycle. Thanks, Bobby.

John L. Smith.

It is no wonder at all, that the SEC laughs at us.

It is POSSIBLE...that Jeff Long has found us a decent coach in Bret Bielema. I AM hopeful. But we have to work our way out of a lot of years of mediocrity.

Arkansas...is not a mediocre place to live. Or study. I'm proud to be a Hog, in every way.

But Frank sucked at hiring coaches.
Congrats, Tigers.

Good get.

You're right. Which is the real reason WE thought we might have a chance. We have PT ready for SOMEONE from day one in 2016.

We're going to take two.

And we're telling them up front, we're taking two.

Whaley knew that before he committed. All the others on our board know it.
I have no inside info. Or really an opinion pro or con.

I just ASSUMED the young man opened up his recruiting again because Muschamp is leaving Auburn.
I don't REALLY care a lot. And I'm sure LSU looks like a 'destination job' to the coaching fraternity.

Good program. Good heritage. Good recruiting. Good fanbase. Good money.

What's not to like?

So yeah, you guys almost certainly CAN get a 'big name' coach.

But you might not want to. You might want a young guy who is not yet a big name, but WANTS to be. ome of the names already in this thread, are guys who've proven they can run a program well and are ready to step up to the big boys table.

Someone who's BEEN at the big boys table for a while, might not have a fire left in his belly.

How many SEC championships has South Carolina won with Holtz or Spurrier?

How many championships did WE win with Ford or Petrino?

A good head coach from a mid-level...might be a firestarter. Just sayin'....
We're hearing he's gonna be a Tiger.

Wish he would be a Hog. Not gonna pretend otherwise.

That's recruiting.
It doesn't matter. Someone will always get pissed.

If you have an 8 team playoff, #9 is gonna be made.

If you have a 16 team playoff, #17....etc.

There are three dominant teams in the country right now. The rest of this is just smoke and mirrors to produce a fourth...to play victim to the other three.

I sincerely hope we get to see a Bama/Oregon game. That's the game of the year, imo.
