re: Aub Fans: Vote on a new Offense

Auburn doesn't have the personnel to run a "pro-style" offense. No fullback, and no drop-back, pocket passer worth a damn. It would be dumb on Chizik's part to scrap the offensive philosophy he's recruited for.
My guess is that he'll go for something similar, a run-option, power spread attack that utilizes vertical routes. I think Baylor's co-OC, Montgomery, would be a good choice...and cheap, which would open up the $ to pay Stoops.

re: Safe to say Dyer's days are definitely done in Auburn now?

I think it'll take a lot more than just getting academically eligible for him to come back. It would take a huge reversal of attitude, and I'm not sure he's mature enough to make the needed changes.
I do agree that it's in his best interest to come back because it would go a long way with NFL scouts who have questions about his character if he remedied what went wrong at AU and faced his punishment.

I'd be shocked if Dyer ever stepped on the field for Auburn again. I doubt he goes to ASU, too. I think he transfers down a level, plays one year, and then enters the draft. That said, dude needs to learn how to catch a pass if he wants realize his NFL dreams.

Mark Stoops will be announced shortly as DC at Auburn. Malzahn leaving opened up a good chunk of change, and they're using it to make Stoops an offer he can't refuse ($1 mil+).
For OC, look for Auburn to target Baylor's co-OC, Phillip Montgomery.

Agreed. Too young, not enough experience, and Malzahn will snatch him up for his staff.

I don't think Auburn will look to run a Franklin-style, horizontal, dink-and-dunk passing offense, but something that emphasizes deep vertical routes and the running game like Malzahn's offense does.
IMO, Baylor's Montgomery fits the mold. I'd be shocked if Chizik went to a pro-style offense, especially with Frazier and Pike as the only real choices at QB going forward for the next few years.

That is crazy. Those other guys haven't proven their worth like Dyer. It may not be the end of the world if he leaves, but losing a RB as good as Dyer is never ok.
Dyer's worth isn't calculated in a vacuum, though. His bad attitude was having negative effects on team chemistry. His talent isn't so great that it trumps what is best for the team. Hopefully, he can pull it together, get his head on straight and come back and earn the respect of his teammates. He's got a loooong way to go to do that, though.

A team can make drastic improvements from one year to the next. 2003-2004 AU comes to mind as a team with basically the same group of talented players that just needed a year of playing together before they won big.
Not just another year. They needed a competent offensive coordinator, which they got in Al Borges. If we had kept the Nallsminger Offense, that extra year wouldn't haven mattered a lick.
