re: TCU's Gary Patterson isn't going anywhere

I don't think he'll leave TCU either. As stated above Bumpas and Patterson are very tight and Bumpas does have strong Arkansas ties.

Actually Ken Hatfield was also a fairly big name. He just won National Coach of the year and Bobby Dood Coach of the Year at Air Force.

Aren't conference divisions required for a championship game?
re: Will there ever be a successful push to drop Ole Miss/Rebels?
Posted by justafarmer on 11/1/12 at 6:41 am
The truth about old Col Reb getting dropped is as follows. Ole Miss Athletics sucked. There was a contingent of PCers pointing at the battle Flag and Col Reb and dixie as being racist symbols. Those in power and responsible for producing this bad athletic product grabbed hold of these people's message and transformed it into an excuse. Alumni - weary of watching losing football, losing basketball and being associated with a sucky sports program year after year latched on to this excuse. Col Reb got the ax and the Black Bear was born.
Do you really believe these changes would have ocurred if Ole Miss had the winning tradition of Alabama? Tradition is only meaningful if it is associated with success.

7 on 7 football
Posted by justafarmer on 10/7/12 at 8:10 am
I think the SEC should adopt 7 on 7 football as a full varsity scholarship spring sport.
30 to 40 total scholarships - 10 per year.
13 week SPRING season.
Probably average 15,000 or more per game attendance.
Certainly worth several million per school in television media rights.
Additional program content for the up and coming SEC Network.
Off season thread - I Know - but sometimes a person just can't help themselves.

How about a Razorback sing-a-LONG?

J-L-S is a funny little codger
With a smile a funny smile.
Uncle John, he’s an artful little dodger
With a smile a funny smile.
Flush or broke he’ll have his little joke,
He can’t be suppress’d,
All the other fellows lift their chin
Before he gets this off his chest, HI!
(CHORUS)
Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag,
And smile, smile, smile,
When you’ve a lollipop your piss stays hot,
Smile, boys, that’s the style.
What’s the use of worrying?
It never was worthwhile, so
Pack up your troubles in your old-kit bag
And smile, smile, smile

re: Hog fans, what has happened to Knile Davis?
Posted by justafarmer on 9/17/12 at 1:49 pm
"Our idiotic coaching staff thought it was a great idea to allow Davis to get tackled a total of only a few times in one practice before the season started."
And the irony of the above quote is - that was the last time the Arkansas defense tackled anybody.

re: Arkansas-I Know You Like Charlie Strong But What About Kirby Smart?

Jon Gruden has almost no experience in the college game. His last stint coaching college was over 20 years ago as a wide receivers coach at Pittsburg in 1991. It's not his coaching that I question - it's his experience in recruiting. If this is the hire the Razorbacks better laydown some big bucks on proven college assistants.

ULM is #25 in the Charles Davis power rankings and #33 based on voting points received in the AP Poll. So this certainly helps in Arkansas' strength of schedule ranking.

Jacksonville State, an FCS program, ran 81 play on offense, made 20 first downs, scored 24 points with a TOP of over 34 minutes. What do you really believe?
re: Parlay question for sports betters
Posted by justafarmer on 8/13/12 at 3:00 pm
I was outlining single game bets which rolled the original bet plus your accumilated winnings into the next single game bet over a span of 4 games. This is essentially the same bet as a 4 game parley except the payout is 50% greater. If you lose any of the single game bets out of the 4 you stop the roll.
My example was just to illustrate that parleys at sports book odds are sucker bets.

re: Parlay question for sports betters

The 10 to 1 4 game parley odds given at a sports book are based on all 4 games bet being the standard -110 book. If the games you include in your parley deviate from the standard the sports book will adjust your parley odds accordingly. Risking $220.00 to win $3000.00 is better odds than risking $200.00 to win $2000.00.

A 4 game parley @ 10 to 1 is a sucker bet - explained below
Betting straignt
Game 1 - $200.00 bet = winnings of $200.00
Game 2 - Game 1 winnings + original $200.00 ($400.00 bet) = winnings of $400.00
Game 3 - Game 1 winnings + Game 2 winnings + original $200.00 = ($800.00 bet)= winnings of $800.00
Game 4 - Game 1 winnings + Game 2 Winnings + Game 3 winnings + original $200.00 = ($1600.00 bet) = $1600.00 winnings
Total winnings - Game 1($200.00) + Game 2($400.00) + Game 3($800.00) + Game 4($1600.00) = $3000.00.
$3000.00 dollars is more than $2000.00
So if you want to bet a 4 game parley make sure you pick games with the kickoff spread far enough apart to allow you to roll your bets.
edited - adjusted math $3200.00 to $3000.00

Now it is some of the former players getting involved preparing their own appeal. Next to the victims probably the most exploited group of people in the whole Sandusky ordeal.
