I wish Chizik would at a minimum be honest when discussing the current state of the defense.

"Chizik also said he likes all his coaches, and that means defensive coordinator Ted Roof."

"You know, the ideas on defense are not revolutionary, everybody basically does the same thing," Chizik said. "Ted does a good job of running our defense. We understand we have deficiencies, obviously, I'm involved there just like I'm involved with the offense and the special teams as well. But again, I've got great coaches."

If he's involved, then why the hell can't our guys play the ball. If everybody does basically the same thing then why the frick do our players act like they are double amputees.

Why was the turnover so high? Was last year just a one year shot for Auburn? I just don't see how they'll compete with Bama and LSU in years to come.

We were playing with a boat load of underwhelming Tuberville seniors, save Josh Bynes, Nick Fairley, and Mike Blanc. Now were playing with a boat load of under-performing frosh talent.
WVU keeps it close in the first half, but you guys wear em out and finish two scores up.

Here are Auburn’s overall defensive numbers, as per-game averages, through the first three games:

2001: 60 plays, 236 yards, 17.3 ppg
2002: 68 plays, 312 yards, 10.0 ppg
2003: 61 plays, 262 yards, 15.7 ppg
2004: 63 plays, 273 yards, 7.7 ppg
2005: 63 plays, 246 yards, 8.7 ppg
2006: 60 plays, 249 yards, 5.7 ppg
2007: 71 plays, 283 yards, 19.3 ppg
2008: 67 plays, 214 yards, 5.0 ppg
2009: 70 plays, 350 yards, 22.3 ppg
2010: 78 plays, 340 yards, 21.3 ppg
2011: 91 plays, 534 yards, 36.7 ppg

It's all to obvious that a change in method and scheme in '09 with the entrance of Roof is to blame for three years of crap defense.
