Edited original post to follow the rules!
NCAA beach volleyball championships started this morning in ESPN2 from Gulf Shores

I’m surprised more SEC teams don’t sponsor beach volleyball. Only LSU, USC and Texas do. Seems like a sport that could grow in college NIL landscape. People like it during Olympics to pull for USA. Seems like p4 fan bases could enjoy pulling for this sport. Doesn’t seem like an expensive sport to sponsor either.

Anyway, not a bad background tournament to have on a Friday

Most movies uaually have the Friday date of release. Thursday is “early release”.

Well Kross wasn’t future endeavored after that promo he dropped on presumably HHH
Did anyone else notice that Cena didn’t mention the Rock when naming all the previous great champions? There’s definitely something going on with that angle
Cena coming in again with black and white basic graphics. I think they going with the he did it for him and screw you fans angle.

The rocks absence hasn’t made sense but hopefully it’ll be explained
I have been thinking about the main event.

What if the point of Cena’s cheap, unsatisfying win—with help from a celebrity outsider in Travis Scott—was that it wasn’t supposed to feel earned or triumphant? What if that was the story?

Cena turned heel to break the record and get 17. He’s spent weeks telling fans he doesn’t care anymore—that they’re ungrateful, that nothing he does is ever enough. He walks out in black-and-white, stripped-down entrance, no hype, no joy. He wins dirty and coldly declares himself the “last real champion.” That’s all on brand with what he’s been saying.

This could be building to something bigger: Cena eventually loses the title back to Cody, maybe even as a heel. Then, in a final face turn, he comes back for one last clean win—his 18th—at SummerSlam with a full crowd celebration. And then, on his retirement show, he passes the torch for good.

Basically, the bad feeling we got last night? That might be exactly what Cena and WWE wanted us to feel. Because it proves his point: the fans will never be satisfied.

Then we see where it goes from here
Anyone notice the English and Spanish announce thanked swapped spots tonight? Wonder if there’s a storyline reason for that
Last year with Clark it averages 2.45 million viewers

LINK

In 2023 (pre Clark): 572k.

I’ll guess it’s right around 1.2 million. Slight bump from 2023 but no where near Clark’s draft last year

Phil playing well. One back. Him and Bryson battling it out in final group should be a good watch. And seeing these guys battle the winds is adding drama

Bryson just dunked one in water on the par 3

re: PGA & LIV “closer” to deal

Because they aren’t the ones bringing the billions to the table….

LIV tv ratings have been bad in USA. But that is mostly because the pga made sure their tv partners didn’t partner with LIV, so they ended up on lesser network like CW. They are now on Fox, we will see how it does in Miami and the tournaments that are in the US/Mexico

I hope they do merge, and LIV has lots of flaws but they have shown the PGA needs to focus some more on international. I think it would be great if pga and payed 10-12 tournaments a year internationally. Places like Australia. Help grow the game. Maybe those 10-12 could be the “compromise” with LIV to for pga to get the billions of investment and have LIV be their international swing they do 10-12 tournaments a year.

PGA certainly has the upper hand in terms of relevance and branding. But they want/need the PIF money. So eventually they will find a deal structure that works.

Good leader board going into final day. Starts on Fox at noon.

Dechambeau/garcia/Leishman/Phil/Reed/Rahm/Dj all within 4 of Dechambeau

Should be fun final round

Conditions seem tough with the wind out there. Leaders at -1 through 4 holes

Doubtful it’s last season. This is season 3 and its owners are Fox, Disney, and Red Bird Capital so they have very deep pockets
