SOAP
This is the first thing that came to my mind. I did a rewatch recently. It was hilarious and I still can't believe what they were able to get away with on that show almost 50 years ago.
I also didn't realize Soap and Golden Girls were both created by Susan Harris (mother of Sam Harris). You can see some proto-Golden Girls elements in Soap, like the women reminiscing in the kitchen over cheesecake.
re: Is a goose as good or better than turkey? Or worse?
Posted by kizomich on 12/19/21 at 2:16 pm
I smoked one a few years ago. That was my first and last goose. It somehow managed to be dry and greasy at the same time. The meat was tough and had a strange taste I wasn't into. It had the added plus of being super expensive.
I guess it's possible I didn't cook it long enough. I know I brought it higher than 165 to render the fat. 180 or something. If you're going to do it I would recommend having some gravy or sauce on hand for sure.
To each his own but turkey is far superior IMO.

It’s easier to write a story set in a world without cell phones.
re: best female comedic performance in a film?

Teri Garr, Madeline Kahn and Cloris Leachman were all perfect in Young Frankenstein. Diane Keaton in Love and Death. Julie Hagerty was great in Airplane and Lost in America.

I love the The Clean and all his solo albums. “Living in Space” is my favorite on Frozen Orange. Check out The Clean Anthology if you haven’t heard that stuff.
re: Robert Palmer

He didn’t keep making the same style of music. That’s not the same thing as selling out. The early stuff is my favorite but I think Riptide and the Power Station record are great too, and they weren’t exactly conventional sounding at the time. I like the yacht rock middle years too. He was the man.

I don’t know. He has a certain “Cox Game Of The Week” thing going. He could do it.

That list would include everyone, potentially.
re: I don’t quite understand how losing Bonham killed Led Zeppelin
Posted by kizomich on 7/21/18 at 1:23 am
Those drums were a huge part of the Zeppelin sound and the last 2 albums were weak. Probably a good decision. I’m glad they weren’t around to do a hair metal record with Mutt Lange in 1986.

Sounds like more of a commentary on the audience, not the Beatles themselves.
re: Just finished Rogue One for the second time

I fell asleep during Rogue One and I wish I would have fallen asleep during Last Jedi, so Rogue One wins. Yay Rogue One.

I think the problem is too much focus on the hosts interacting with each other. Why should we care if host geisha kills host samurai or Delores double crosses host soldiers? Their motivations are at least partially programmed and they can be brought back to life. Seems like wheel spinning to me. On the other hand, Man in Black (past and present) and Bernard hiding his true nature among humans are interesting. Season 2 seems to have a story to tell, maybe just not enough of one.
re: Am I The Only One That Doesn’t Care About Infinity War?
Posted by kizomich on 4/28/18 at 9:29 am
I got tired of watching people in funny costumes throw balls of energy at each other to stop the evil genius/alien a long time ago. For the record, this doesn’t mean that I’m actually not tired of that. I really am.

Great to see Quest for Fire mentioned. There should be move caveman movies.
And movies about cults. Ticket to Heaven is a good one from 1981.
