re: Pels Sign Mathurin

Apparently, contract with Mathurin came in slightly lower. We are $4m under lux tax right now.
I don't know if Peavy's contract is fully guaranteed but I can see a world where they try to cut him and retain him on a two-way.
Again, the rules cannot be for thee and not for me.

Furthermore, Wright and Harris, specifically took MORE money to play for LSU. So, which is the professional sport? NIL has muddied that water tremendously.

Had the NCAA not drug their feet on the 5 for 5 rule when it was first was announced and had these players deemed eligible before UDFA or before training camps, this would be a non-issue.

And, as I'm reading how these court orders work...the SEC is supposed to abide by the policies set forth by the NCAA, a policy it itself is purposely altering. The lack of self-awareness on their part is astounding.

Because, by that ruling, wouldn't it stand to reason that Chambliss is ineligible?

And, for the record, I don't believe this will be a thing in future seasons
I'm really struggling to figure out who Memphis keeps on their final roster.

Some interesting cuts coming from that team.
A trade idea that I have (and hate for a few reasons but benefits all teams in some way

Pels get

Myles Turner
AJ Green

Bucks get

Domantas Sabonis

Kings get

Jordan Poole (they'd buy him out IMO)
AJ Johnson
Karlo Matkovic
picks

Not sure if anyone says yes
Try ranch water with coconut rum...so much better
I don't hate this move at all under the circumstances

Peavy wasn't going to play and I think this opens up Caleb Houstan to make the roster

Hawk should have never been picked up but you get a guy in AJ Johnson for the bench or maybe you can flip him for a cheap big...saves $5m with cutting Gibson...can still sign someone like Drew Eubanks or hopefully trade Poole for a big
And AJ Johnson. Gibson will be cut. I'm not sure if Johnson would stay on the roster.
Leavitt’s arm worries me. Slow and lofty. No zip.
I'd cut Boyd now and try and go get Mecole Hardman since we cut Kevin Austin.
Therein lies the problem. The lines have been blurred far too much.

I have no problem with college athletes getting extra money for their likeness being used by schools. But where NIL is and everything are bridges too far.
Why is this even a conversation?

It's all so broken.
Odds are it's suicide but the evidence on the scene is a bit questionable. Not enough into that.

Don't know who would say yes or no but something like...

Pels get Benn Mathurin, Daniel Gafford
Mavs get Jordan Poole, Johni Broome
Clips get Caleb Martin, Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy

plus picks somewhere in there

Waive Karlo (I know I hate that too) and then Houstan and Bufkin make team

Murray / Fears / Bufkin
Herb / Mathurin / McGowens
Trey / Bey / Houstan
Zion / Queen / Watford
Gafford / Missi / DJ

This is actually a really good deal. Essentially a 1-year/$8m deal.
Love what Mitchell said to him at the end of his interview.

Ravech better be in Cooperstown one day

I would imagine whomever bought the Saints would buy the Pelicans no?

I'm holding out hope that Todd Graves is buying the team once that expansion check clears

re: Do you enjoy LSU watch parties?

Posted by BallHawk on 8/21/26 at 12:33 pm to
I used to but if I'm not in the stands, I kind of like watching by myself or with my kids.
The original model wasn't broken regarding eligibility...it was broken regarding how players earned money.

I think the pendulum got swung too far the other way and now it's a worse system than before.

What happened with Terrelle Pryor, for example, for getting paid to sign autographs, that should have been allowed.

18-year olds getting $2-3m, absolutely not.

You should have 5 years to play 5. You should only be able to transfer once without redshirting.

Should maybe some things like LSU selling Honey Badger type of gear be profitable Tyrann Mathieu when he played...sure.

Shoudl players be able to earn money on their own outside of playing...fine with a limit.

In no way should professional athletes, whether in Europe, G-League, or NBA SL be allowed to return to college. A pro contract whether multiple millions of dollars or a few thousand is a pro contract. Hell, Chieck Diallo just signed with St. Bonaventure. He played a year at Kansas and multiplle years in the NBA and has played for years in Europe.

BROKEN
Let me be clear, I don't want to trade Karlo.

Also, didn't think about Poole.
