I'm not convinced he isn't seeing the field. I just think he's scared to turn it loose if the target isn't wide open.

Laurelwood is good and Lucky Labrador is solid as well.

Back 40 in Alabama is contract brewing for them right now. They signed with Capital City Beverages in Jackson for distribution.

Given the fact the whole deal was put in place to appease TENN and BAMA, and a lesser extent UGA and AU,

If this team plays the rest of the year the way they played Saturday night, nobody comes within three touchdowns of us. This might be one of the only times I've ever looked at a loss and thought, "Damn, we're going to be good."
re: LSU hasn't lost a game during Halloween week since '99

I was at that game in '99. I was with a buddy that was a Tulane alum. He was wearing a priest outfit and a Tulane Baseball cap. He disappeared after the third quarter and we never found him. Myself and the other two guys I was with ended up driving back to Jackson that night without him after we spent about 3 hours looking for him after the game. Turns out, he ended up at some frat party on campus and passed out. Took a bus back to Jackson I believe. I know, CSB.

Throws out of the Warecat. Book it.
re: So if LSU wins, the SEC loses?
Posted by BEAUXREGARD on 10/30/12 at 1:39 pm
Yeah, right now I think Bama should be the only concern. We've still got a good MSU team to play and an Ole Miss team that seems to be getting better every week. Then, if you get through all of that, we get to play UGA. SO, my response is to just settle down and let things play out. At worst, Bama goes to the championship game and we can all hope that Oregon drops 45 on them.

This whole story is hilarious. I'm not exactly convinced by the veracity of a bunch of seedy club owners, but nevertheless I hope it blows up in SI's face.

quote:To a degree. Subscription costs normally don't cover much more than what it costs to produce the product. Ad sales are the money maker. I wouldn't go so far as to paint SI as one of these sensational publications, but if Thayer is what everyone says he is, there was a terrible call in judgement on hiring him and then allowing this story to run.
publications that charge subscriptions have to make money and they have to sensationalize the story so it sells magazines, newspapers, etc.

Thayer Evans has admitted to taking bribes to present stories in certain ways.

If we assume for a minute that everything the club owner said is true, why did the SI writer think none of that would be brought to light after the story ran? Secondly, who fronted the $2500? The writer? Doubtful. If he had it to offer, it came from someone much higher up. And, if that is in fact the case, how monumentally stupid would that person have to be? You're going to risk the entire reputation of that magazine for a story on Mathieu? If this is true, it damn near puts the magazine out of business. I just don't buy it. I don't think the story even causes a lot of problems for LSU to be honest, but I don't believe these club owners.

Yeah, much as it sucks, you have to ask yourself: If we weren't talking about LSU, who would you believe? A writer for SI or some shady guy running a shady club? I find the $2500 part of the story to be extremely suspect.

Please. They're talking to distributors up here now, so hopefully I'll be able to buy it myself in the next couple of months.

re: Interesting parallel between Les & Steve Spurrier...
Posted by BEAUXREGARD on 10/10/12 at 9:41 am
I don't think anyone is going to confuse us with teams that run creative offenses. Then again, Alabama isn't all that creative either. They execute. To this point in the year, we haven't. But, IMO, a lot of that has to do with injuries and turnovers. Not sure how much of that can be blamed on coaches. Our defense gives us a chance to win every week. If we execute just a little on offense, we're going to be hard to beat. Will that happen? Don't know. And the comparison to Spurrier is irrelevant. Spurrier didn't have the talent at SC to run the offense he knew. He adapted to the talent he had and has continued to run with it. Not to mention that SEC defenses had already started to catch up with those offenses before he left.

Yeah, this sheds light on it to everyone in the country and the ensuing WTF's should create some movement on the issue. Look, homebrewing is illegal here in MS, (not for much longer hopefully) and we held a homebrewing competition on Congress St. last year right next to the Governor's mansion. Nobody said a word.
