Regardless of style, the overall state of our national goal keepers is astonishingly bad.

A keepers #1 responsibly is to prevent goals.
Prioritizing a skilled ball handler over a shot blocker is asinine. I’ve seen too many teams try the keeper sweeper route and it has cost a lot of goals. Ask ManU fans how much they liked replacing De Gea with Onana.
It is great to have a player that can do both at a high level, but the idea that you have to sacrifice shot blocking to have a keeper build-up/play out the back is dumb.

As stated, I think the obviously bigger story is a power 5 conference being flagrantly biased toward one of its founding members.
