I don’t know how many years of eligibility all of the WRs have, but:
1) Think if this as multiple classes coming in at once, so we added some “sophomores”, some “juniors”, and some “seniors” based on their eligibility years remaining.
2) WR is probably the most fluid position in the portal. I would venture to guess WRs have the most players enter the portal than every other position, so it makes sense to load up because at least 1/2 will not be on the roster next year.
3) One could make a case that more WRs could benefit from transferring than any other position. QBs have a case, but there are not nearly as many QBs in the portal as WRs.
4) I would imagine this is going to be pretty common for WR every year until more guidelines are added to the portal/NIL.

I am not speaking from a legalities prospective, but IMO, if he received money and then backed out of the contract, he should have to return a prorated portion of the money paid along with any opt out penalties defined in the contract.
