Cabo trip recs

Posted by ctowntiger on 10/31/25 at 5:49 pm
Currently in process of planning a trip to Cabo. Quivara has been on my bucket list since I read about it in magazine a few years back. Putting a graduation trip together to finally play it. Looking at staying at Pueblo bonito Pacifica, wife seems happy with all non golf amenities.
This board is typically well traveled so looking for advice. Anyone done a similar trip? Any feedback on that resort (should I look at other options)? How about other courses in the area, or should I play Quivara twice? Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks in advance
Clemson DV = Mobile Mardi Gras.
They can have the original one. I’m content to have the better one.

Front 9 is horrendous, back 9 is awesome. Doesn’t feel like the same course. Great for the money I always enjoy my rounds there.

Agreed I played it a few weeks ago. Average round time. Course was in great shape as usual

Courses in Austin

Gonna take a last minute trip to Austin next weekend for the LSU Texas game. Wanna try to squeeze in a round while there. Anybody got course recs around Austin? Thanks in advance.
I don’t think you get a choice, way I understood it is they rotate courses so only one is open at any given time. I got to play azalea, it was awesome

Finish for pecan tabletop

Posted by ctowntiger on 8/29/24 at 12:33 pm
Good afternoon, I'd like to dip into the OB's infinite knowledge for some woodworking advise. For background, a little over a year ago we decided to "rescue" the table from my mother in laws house that my wife grew up eating breakfast on, the top was trashed but I saw it as an opportunity to get some cool woodworking done. I had a top made out of 8/4 pecan. We think it came out really cool. problem is it rings really bad, we have just been dealing with it by being careful but now my daughter is old enough to eat at the table and she is not careful in the slightest. I'm not exactly sure what he used when he made it, but I wanna say he said tung oil and a poly mix. I'm thinking I wanna sand it down to get rid of the rings and refinish it with something that offers more protection. So we finally get around to the question; What can I put on it to make it look essentially the same but offer much more resistance to rings and a two year old? Any and all advise is welcome, thanks in advance

Anybody have any experience with the golf courses at the Grand? Going for a conference in a couple weeks and wanna try to squeeze in a round. I see they have two courses But I can likely only carve out the time for one round. Any recs or tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I go to Chatt every year for Memorial Day. Moccasin bend is decent for the money, location is extremely handy but really nothing special. I like bear trace a lot, been in great shape the past couple years with lots of great river views. Sweetens Cove is awesome, would definitely recommend checking it out. I have heard it can be hard to get on now tho (I haven’t been in several years). Word to the wise, sweetens is in a different time zone than chatt. If you aren’t mindful you can show up an extra hour early. Don’t ask me how I know lol.
I haven’t gotten to play it yet but I’ve heard the Mclemore is awesome.

I would drive 15 minutes to Carter instead.

If you stay at that Hilton on the golf course they block some tee times for guests.
I’m on call today. I suppose I could vote from every computer in the hospital.

I was hoping someone would respond to this. I saw one in the airport the other day. It looks like very handy to pull since it kinda stands up. I may go this route when I need to replace mine.

9-6 wasn’t a pretty win but he singlehandedly flipped the field and is the reason along with Eric Reid for lsu winning this game.

I may be in the minority but I miss defensive games.

Saying Brian Dennehy stadium in front of Gumps is one of my favorite pastimes.
Take lots of pictures and post them on here
