The moron stopping on the interstate happens pretty much every morning in BR, I-110 traffic got to hit that Washington St. exit at the base of the bridge.

I submit John carpenter’s Vampires.
Plot, dialogue, acting, camera work, etc. all terrible.

Slavery would have ended by the early 1900’s. Northern states, as well as Europe, would have stopped buying from the south forcing changes. Automation in farming would have continued to make slavery less and less of a necessity. Lawmakers from southern states would have started focusing on some way to take care of plantation owners and others who would lose their investment in slaves.
Would have been sooner than that. Brazil, the last country in the western hemisphere to abolish slavery and the country with the most slaves, ended slavery 1888. Brazil imported over 5 million slaves, in contrast the US imported 340,000. And they ended it without a war. Process started in 1871 ending 16 years later. Slavery was dying out, the civil war didn’t have to happen. I could be wrong, but that’s how I feel.

There is one on the PA side that’s way worse. It’s been like that for at least 6 years.

American Legion is not rec
Well if it’s not it is more rec than travel/tournament ball.
You signed up, were put on a team that I didn’t go to school with any of the kids, all the teams wore the same uniforms(just different colors), we played our season had a closing tournament and that was it. If that’s not rec ball I don’t know what is.

Not true, there was American Legion.
Not sure if it’s a thing anymore, but American Legion was youth baseball in BR until the 1990s.

My beef with travel ball/ tournament ball whatever you want to call it, is that it doesn’t stay in season. It has spilled over into every season. This is at 8 years old and even younger.
During football season kids either missing games or being late because of baseball. During basketball season same thing. Not to mention countless birthday parties and other kid activities missed all for baseball. Parents living their baseball dreams through their kids are going to get these kids injured or mentally fricked. Constantly being pushed all over the place. Never allowing the body or mind to truly relax and heal or just do kid stuff.
The mental aspect is probably the worst part but probably hardest to measure.
At our school we actually have school baseball starting at 1st grade my kid is in 3rd and it blends a handful of rec ball kids with mostly travel ball kids. So I get to see both worlds side by side.
When a travel ball kid strikes out or gets out it is a full fledged meltdown. Which is usually followed by a parent dressing down their kid to get your fricking head in the game. Rec ball kid, is upset but the reaction is more oh darn and is followed by a shoulder shrug.
All this to say, there should be a more advanced league, however it should stay in baseball season. Put the bat and ball down for 6 months or whatever amount of time. Play other sports in between or just be a kid ride bikes, play in a ditch, build a tree house, whatever. Just do something other than baseball.
