re: Tharold Simon: Should we?

Yeah but the difference is Crawley and Harris were thrust into action as undrafted rookies. That's alot to ask of an undrafted rookie. While B.W. Webb has been in the league since 2013 so he should be peaking about now so as an NFL GM you kind of know what you have and what his ceiling is

With Crawley and Harris, you have two guys that still have a good bit of upside. I mean to think that they were undrafted rookies that should have been on a practice squad last year they actually did alright and in reality still have alot of upside. Who knows what kinda of jump they will make from year one to year two and from year two to year 3. They might turn out to be pretty damn good #3 Cornerbacks by year four. While Webb isn't going to grow much more. Maybe a little in the next year or two, but for the most part what you see is what you get.
So Im going to take the guys with upside to see who can win a 4th or 5th cornerback spot or 9th or 10th Defensive Back spot or a top 11 special teamer

Hopefully Lattimore can be a all pro type #1 Cornerback
But even if not if healthy (big if of course but just for 53 man paper talk) you have,at worst,(cuz of course I'm hoping Lattimore is future hall of famer)

Delvin Breaux
Marshon Lattimore
P.J. Williams
Damian Swann
Sterling Moore
Ken Crawley
De'Vante Harris

Kenny Vaccaro
Marcus Williams
Vonn Bell
Rafael Bush
Chris Banjo
Erik Harris

If healthy thats a helluva secondary

Yeah I updated my above post to say that you could have CBs or DEs that "fall" to 42 that have 1st round grades and that none of those LBs would necessarily be my picks but I do like all 4

re: Updated Roster & Needs/Wants

U got time to give ur opinions on

Foster - (I'm pretty sure this is who u are talking about)

Reddick

Cunningham

Jarrard Davis

I like all 4 of those by pick #42

Run to the podium if any or there by #76

What yall think?

Eta: not saying any would be my pick, the draft is a crapshoot and guys fall or get picked earlier than expected

shite all 4 could be gone by #32

Even if not, you could have guys the Saints have with top 25 grades at #42

You could see guys like Charles Harris, Jordan Willis, T.J. Watt, Gareon Cronley, Kevin King, Quincy Wilson at #42

shite crazier things have happened in past drafts than possibly Taco Charlton and Tre'Davious White being there at #42

So not saying any of those LB's would be my pick, just wondering how yall see/view them as prospects???

re: My Hope List

Posted by homeindadome on 4/2/17 at 3:57 pm
I do hope we trade for Butler

Preferably #42 but I'd be fine with #32. Knowing ur getting a successful cornerback is a can't pass up as long as it is not the 11th pick

Besides that, Id like to take another pass rusher in the top 103

Two chances to get the biggest position of need at the biggest impact position on defense

Hopefully they hit on both and we can have great rotation and depth
Saying Barnett will never be a superstar is foolish

They have guys littered all throughout the league that were late round draft picks because of their limited athleticism that are now stars and tons of combine stars/workout warriors that turn out to be huge bust

Not saying that he will at all but he has plenty enough athleticism to be a star

So many things can't be measured by testing results. Someguys can just carry their pads

Some guys u can put em in underwear and they run twice as fast than with pads on

And some guys run almost as fast in full gear than without any on

And then you have football knowledge and the ability to diagnose an offense and break down whats happening without hesitation

And then some guys have football instincts and just know where to be

Than you have guys that have swagger/ killer instinct/ won't be denied mentality

Some guys have valuable leadership skills and the ability to rally the troops and raise up the whole team and get everyone going

And most importantly is work ethic. Will they train hard, play hard, never quit, not cash it in after big contracts, not take plays off, be relentless, etc.

The want/desire to win and be great cannot be understated. The love of the game and enjoying palying football and being a fierce competitor account for alot

Sone guys can wanna be the best but like u said their physical limitations will prevent that from ever happening

But some guys can be freak athletes and never have the will to succeed

But basically, there is alot more than running a fast 40 or jumping real high and far to being a great football player

And Barnett definitely has enough athleticism to be a great football player IF he has some of the other stuff

Think about Travis Frederick, Zach Martin, Chandler Jones top 20, Kahlil Mack at 5th overall as kind of like wtf 1st round picks. The safety that the Falcons picked this year.

Bruce Irvin is a great example of this situation

That was a big WTF pick by Seattle at pick #15

Reddick reminds me of that
He has really grown on me. Alot

I think he can a pro bowl defender in this league for a decade

And a great chess piece to move around the defense

And most importantly, he CAN definitely RUSH the passer

Not saying he would be my pick, but I'd be fine with it for sure
No problem, it's definitely confusing, but I think I got it covered. Appreciate you acknowledging it and thank you for your appreciation

I wish I knew the names of the draft prospects in the others categories

Our highest percentage is actually "others"

As is Buffalo's
Buffalo has "others" leading the way with 41.4%
And then QB DeShaun Watson second with 29.3%
And WR Mike Williams third with 17.2%

The Saints have "others" as our highest percentage pick with 31%

Then a tie at second highest percentage between DE Solomon Thomas and DE Derek Barnett at 13.8%
And DE Taco Charlton at fourth higest with 12.1%
Then another tie at fifth highest percentage with both
LB Rueben Foster (who is already picked in this mock) &
CB Sidney Jones at 8.6%

And then at seventh highest percentage is CB Marshon Lattimore with 6.9% but he is already gone as well in this mock which is probably why his percentage is so low because he is probably already picked in most of the mocks they used for this data

And our last and lowest percentage is CB Quincy Wilson with 5.2% in the eighth spot

But I don't know how to see the names in the "others" category but it is probably a good bit of names mixed up to make that category so I'm assuming that we have a tie for our pick with Derek Barnett and Solomon Thomas getting the most selections in our slot so therefore in this mock

With the 11th pick in the 2017 NFL draft (I can hear Roger Goodell gettin booed in my head, haha) the New Orleans Saints select
Derek Barnett or Solomon Thomas

One thing for sure is that they have Defensive End as our biggest need then Corner Back as our second biggest need

re: Draft Tek 7 round Mock Draft

I would absolutely love Cunningham at #42. Imma fan of his and I think he would be a great pick at #42. That being said, this mock has Taco Charlton being picked at #41. And if he fell one more spot to #42, I would have a hard decision to make. Because IMO nothing makes a defense better then a good pass rush. And that would give you two chances to land a good pass rusher and I like both and think both will be good pros, so you take a need position which is also probably the most important position on defense and turn it into a position of strength with a great rotation.

Imagine a DE rotation of
Cameron Jordan
Kasim Edebali
Hawaiian Kikaha
Obum Gwacham
D.J.Pettaway

With
Derek Barnett
Taco Charlton

And
Paul Kruger
Darryl Tapp
Other rookie, rookie free agents,etc.
And whoever else the Saints decide to let battle for a roster spot

D.Barnett at R.End and Taco at L.End with Cameron Jordan and Rankins/Fairley on the inside on 3rd down/obvious passing downs - Yes Please!!!

And in this mock, I like the Marcus Maye (safety from Florida) pick at #75. But in this mock they have Tre'Davious White going one pick later to Philadelphia at #76 and there is no way I pass on Tre White in the 3rd round for just about anyone.

So yes again, I would take Quincy Wilson at #32 & Tre White at #75 and turn a need position into a position of strength

Imagine a healthy
Delvin Breaux
P.J. Williams
Damian Swann
Ken Crawley

With
Quincy Wilson
&
Tre White added

Plus the Harris Boys
B.W. Webb
Kyle Wilson
Other rookie, rookie free agents,etc.
And whoever else the Saints decide to let battle for a roster spot

Should be a difficult decision keeping 5-7 out of those and should have a deep rotation with great nickel and dime backs

Again position of need to a position of strength

I would like the draft they give us now and it would be extremely hard to turn down Zach Cunningham for Taco Charlton or just about any other player

But I would love

11.) DE- Derek Barnett
32.) CB- Quincy Wilson
42.) DE- Taco Charlton
75.) CB- Tre'Davious White

Probably even more
Actually, and this mock can be pretty confusing,it says all three could be there but actually has the Bengals taking Rueben Foster at pick 9. Basically saying he could be there but won't

From what I understand the mock actually has the teams picks as:

1. Cleveland-M Garrett
2. San Fran-Mitch Turbisky
3. Chicago-J Allen
4. Jacksonville- Jamal Adams
5. Tennessee- M Lattimore
6. NY Jets- it actually has the Jets higest percentage picking M.Lattimore but in this mock the Titans just picked him so the next highest percentage is Leonard Fournette
So 6. NY Jets-Jets Leonard Fournette
7. San Diego-Malik Hooker
8.Carolina- same thing here-the Panthers highest percentage is Leonard Fournette but with Titans picking M.Lattimore, the Jets pick Leonard Fournette and with the Jets picking Leonard Fournette the Panthers next highest percentage is RB Dalvin Cook so
8.Carolina-Dalvin Cook
9.Cincinnati-Rueben Foster (so this mock actually has R.Foster gone at #9 to the Benagals

But I can't figure out the others
So I just took it as
10. Buffalo-D. Watson

And the Saints having a two way tie at 13.8%
Between
Derek Barnett
&
Solomon Thomas

Did I get all that correct
That was alot of typing, damn

re: What's Your Dream Saints Draft?

Posted by homeindadome on 3/11/17 at 12:59 am
1a. D Barnett Edge
1b. Quincy Wilson/Tre White
2. Jarrard Davis LB
3a. D Smoot Edge from Illinois
3b. Best offensive player available

Might be even a better draft here
This would be great also!!

re: What's Your Dream Saints Draft?

Posted by homeindadome on 3/11/17 at 12:54 am
11.Soloman Thomas DE Stanford
32.Sidney Jones CB Washington
42.Zach Cunningham LB Vanderbilt
76.DeDe Westbrook WR Oklahoma
103.Duke Riley LB LSU

Yes please!
That would be a great draft

Would rather another edge rusher (more of a speed guy, true 3rd down pass rush type guy cuz Soloman is more of an all around DE, almost Cameron Jordan-ish) in those top 76 but Zach Cunningham would be too good to pass up at 42 but I don't think he would be there but if he is, definite take

And I like DeDe Westbrook at 76 and another WR would be fine now without Cooks but another DE/true edge rusher in the top 103 would be nice

re: Who Do You Guys Want At 47?

Posted by homeindadome on 4/29/16 at 9:19 am
Yeah and I think it goes by strength of schedule when there is tied records. I think the team with the easiest strength of schedule picks first. So say there are 4 teams that finished tied at 7-9 picking 11th,12th, 13th, & 14th. Then the team that finished 7-9 with the easiest strength of schedule would pick 11th in the first then go to the back of the line and pick 14th in the second round, while the team that picked 12th in the first round would then pick 11th in the second and then fall to 14th in the third round.

So the team that picked 11th in the first would pick 14th in the second round, 13th in the third round, 12thh in the fourth round, and then pick 11th again in the fifth round. And then fall back to 14th again in the sixth round and 13th in the seventh round
I think that is how it works

I hate the new format!!

I loved draft weekend!! I looked forward to draft weekend!!

The new format pisses me off
At least make the first rd on Friday night not this stupid Thursday bullshite.

F@#k Goodell!!!
Yeah the Mills pick is a solid pick if for Free Safety. The guy can cover and he is okay at tackling (not great, but OK) but he would have range and the ability to cover at FS. Plus he would have versatility as a 3rd/4th cornerback for depth purposes. Remember, there was talk of him being a first round draft pick before he got hurt to start the season. But I'd be okay with the pick for free safety.

But that being said gimme Vernon Butler if he is available with our 2nd pick. Or maybe even Kenny Clark. Or shite I'dbe down with Cody Whitehair there too.

But I'd much rather

1.) Lawson
2.) Butler
3.) Maybe Mills is still available here but if not another safety or a higher rated guard or I would be okay with Bullard here even if we went with Lawson and Butler 1st and 2nd
Yep and it was a great play by Norman too. He went up and got the ball and make a great int to seal it. And I'll admit not a great decision to throw the corner/fade route to a little Brandin Cooks receiver, and the ball was underthrown also. If the ball would have been to the back pylon it would have been a TD but it was underthrown (somewhat). Because fact is,it was a great defensive play by Norman. And it was also about the worst throw by Luke all game. It it wasn't a bad throw. Just not a good one mixed with a great defensive play. Ao ny point is, McCown did look good and looked like he could win a few games in case of the unthinkable
Hahahahaha

I literally laughed out loud at that
"No. No one did that."

This is the thread I was thinking about it.

But again I didn't mean to put a crap thread on the board. Kind of posted quickly after I saw they benched Jones after he was struggling badly against Northern Illinois.

But yes. Yes they did do that. Read that thread
Hahaha

Yeah I know. Really an unnecessary post.

But I just thought it was funny when I saw at halftime of the LSU game that Cardale got benched for poor play. And I just laughed considering there were actually people on this board in a thread that were arguing in favor of a report (by Moscana I think), in which he was saying that the Saints should tank the season for a chance to draft Cardale Jones with the first pick. And there was actually people on here saying we should consider it and guys arguing that they don't need a full season of film on Jones. That they could already tell he was the truth and worth tanking the season and drafting him off of 2 minutes of game film.

But my bad. I really wasn't trying to put a crap thread on the board. Can a moderator can erase it. Or how do I erase it?
