I’d call a guy like Jonathan Sullivan a bust. Out of the league in 3 seasons Penning will get a 2nd contract and at worse will stick around the league as a backup for awhile. I’d say he was obviously a miss there at 1.18 but wouldn’t call him a bust

I guess I have a different definition of bust. I think of misses like that in the first two rounds as a bust. But I agree with your overall point. He won't be out of the league next year. He still may not be a starter again after this year. Time will tell. But he'll stick around.

I may be in the minority but I don’t consider him to be a bust.

I think his future is at right guard with someone to protect him on the outside

I'm pretty sure I'm the one in the minority here, but if that's his future then he's still a bust unless he goes on to be a top 10 guard in the league or something. It is what it is as this point. Try and get as much use out of him as you can. But it is highly unlikely that when we look back on his career, we will say he was worth a first round pick (that we traded back into the first for)

it’s another admission we busted on two picks with Penning

Why do people keep harping on this? He has been a bust. For where he was picked and what we gave up to get him, being just average would mean he's a slight bust. Doesn't mean he doesn't have value. But it's a sunk cost. This team can't let admitting a mistake influence any decisions for putting together the best possible O Line this year.

ETA: also I am optimistic about Trevor at G. I think he can be decent there.

Put your money on an OL at 9.

The right thing to do for this draft is to trade back a bit then get a OL. OL is kinda iffy at the top. But knowing us, we are going to trade up to 7 and get an OL
I can't switch to a new team. But I can get more and more apathetic. Last year I watched one game (1st game of the season). This year, I'll watch less unless we get Flagg or something.
I'm basically out of hope for this franchise. Only thing that can bring me sorta back is a good HC hire like Malone

Not sure I like his comment about us trying to compete for division this year. Hope that is just coach speak.

I think you have to say that. You can't come in and say we aren't going to be competitive at all. But he keeps speaking to the process of building the team so I don't think they've made a decision on all of that yet. Hope they choose a rebuild in some form or fashion obviously
I'm on board with Jeanty. If we can establish an identity on offense being a dominant running team, then we can win some games. Our o line is already good at blocking for that and he and Kamara should make for a great 1-2 punch. Add in the fact that Carr is way better when we're able to establish the run and we could be competent on offense next year with him.

I'd obviously love the right edge rusher as well

Doesn't really matter. Whoever we hire is not long for this job. No one can turn this shite sandwich around in 3 years so you gotta look towards the coach hire after this one

This happened to me in the past with a $25 dollar gift card. That's how cheap my damn company is.

It's not about being cheap. It's about them not wanting to get fricked by uncle sam

It's cold AF most of the year.

False
He won one game and it's a game we easily could've lost. Let's pump the brakes

I’m not about to shite on the guy when he’s held his own this year. He’s an average starting tackle in pass pro and top end run blocker. The pick is history now. Lots of teams would take his play this year.

I'm not necessarily giving up on him. But I am saying that if we have a top pick and there's tackle available, I'm not against taking one. Penning's pass blocking still needs a lot of work
Even if he's serviceable, it's a bust of a draft pick and yet another reason why we're in this shitty situation (bad cap and no great young players)
I'm excited about Missi but people need to chill. It's been one game. And it's the Bulls. Let's get a bigger sample size before we start talking about Griff adjusting his strategy
