re: Road Trip ~ Headed to Bama. Suggestions?
Posted by lakeviewtiger on 11/3/25 at 3:23 pm to bigsabanfan
On the way, we have started stopping at Wilson's Commissary for a meal in Laurel, MS. Prices are good and a nice place to relax and get a decent meal on the road.
In Tuscaloosa, we have enjoyed going to Roll Call for drinks. Its a roof top bar in the Alamite (nice place to stay too).
I am also a big SEC history fan, so eating breakfast at the Waysider is pretty cool. Bear Bryant had breakfast there every morning.
Black Warrior Brewing is cool place for meal...Ave. Pub is nice...Tuscaloosa has become a decent place to visit over the past 25 years. Take the recs from this board and then just explore. A lot of places to eat and drink at on University Blvd.

Melatonin works for me as well. The dreams are close to lucid. Cool if they are pleasant…fricking catastrophe if a nightmare.

re: Is there a county more diverse in geography than the USA?

New Zealand. The North Island alone has many of the features of USA except when hours of each other. Tropics, rolling hills like Kentucky, Mountains like the Rockies, Coast lines similar to all of ours. (NW, NE, Gulf Coast, West Coast, etc..) Marsh areas, thermal areas, a more.
re: Any pepper growers here?

My son and I grow white ghost peppers (seems cooler if they are white), chocolate carolina reapers and some scorpions.
We grow them in containers on the patio. SE Louisiana. They are pretty hardy and no issues with natural pollination. Grew them from seeds. Water regularly and enjoy.
Right now the scorpions are blooming. The others were in the spring. Fun hobby and a little goes a long long way when flavoring.

I was sitting in the helipad at Baptist watching that. It weird seeing and smelling so many fires. Reminded me of that scene in the Crow.

Spoon..I feel you on that one.
However, the talking and commiserating does help. I’m referring to the shared experience type of talk, not the morbid curiosity talk.
I will say…sometimes I wish there would be a meet up just for people to release some of that Katrina funk energy. Just a place where people are empathetic and just understand how fricked we all were and all are from the whole experience.

Guess I’ve made peace. I’m not irrationally reacting to how much Katrina upended everything in my family’s life. This is coming from someone who was with his wife at Baptist, had a house in Lakeview, had a career that was impacted significantly.
I’m cool because of my faith, my family, my support system and me.

Led Zeppelin played at the PMAC. That is it. Nothing else happening in Feb 75.

I’m buzzed and relating to the highness of this post. After carefully trying each way to display “ 3”. I feel the German way is easiest. The OK sign being next. The 2,3,4 being hardest.

Exactly. Bring back the Old Ramcharger and Prospectors. Take my money. I still have the Ram hood ornament from the one I learned to drive on.

This was my thought after it came up that Conrad used to bang Kevin’s wife.
Confirmed that Maeve has known all along and has a firm distaste for Conrad’s kids. The same way she views Harry. Her contributions to the Harrigan bloodline haven’t been the strongest. Conrad realizes this and this is why Sofia can do as she pleases and Harry is in charge of running the day to day. Sofia needs to get the frick away asap. Eddie…still figuring out what she has pl be anned there…but guessing he will some how be her Deus ex machina to blow it all up.

My thought as well. Richie has lost a son and a wife. Brenden is a dead man.

It was very good. I wasn’t anticipating a Marvel movie to resonate beyond some humor and action scenes. This one had depth and substance. It was relative to our world in a meaningful way. I want to spend time with the AvengerZ

As much as I like Helen Mirren, the Maeve character is really bothering me. Still figuring out if she is the fox playing the fool or if she is really just a tiresome and meddlesome drunk stuck in the old ways of "doing business".
Still thinking she is possibly playing the long game to bring down Conrad for stepping out on her for decades. The restraint she showed after Vron ridiculed her makes me think more is afoot with her as well.

That was a great line and delivery. It is an interesting dynamic between he and Maeve. She is and probably has been a psychotic powder keg. He doesn't mind playing with fire.

Spoilers
Kevin, when talking to Harry, said Conrad introduced him to Bella. Bella was one of COnrad's many mistresses. Also, Bella doesn't want to be around the estate because of Conrad and Maeve.
Maeve assumes that Eddie is Kevin's son. What if Eddie is actually Conrad's son? What if this is all some epic revenge plot against Conrad by Maeve for decades of infidelity? Harry vs. Maeve and Maeve set the board.
