Looks like sugar may be the problem. I still give mine the same shite and hes 11 now. I've found that after they shoot or shoot at their first deer the whole be quiet and sit still thing finally clicks in their little brain. Also remember when you take them in the woods with you its for them not you. When mine got bored or wouldnt sit still we got down and walked around the area we were in or went back to the camp. Whatever you do dont get aggravated because they will get discouraged quick. Good luck and congrats on a little one to pass the love of outdoors down to!

Great deals on blem uppers and pistols. Got a great deal on a FNS-9 with night sights. Also bought a couple of M&P Shields from them. All less than $350.
I have repeatedly tried to remove the factory sights on my Springfield XDS .45. Tried a not-so-well-fitted sight pusher tool and failed. Tried using a plastic punch and mallet and failed. Bought an adjustable sight pusher tool and still can't get the damn thing to budge! Any suggestions would be appreciated! TIA

The Kershaw Blur is a close second.

Kershaw 1970 Burst Folding SpeedSafe Knife

FTW

Best knife I've ever owned. And I've owned a lot.

Where's the actual publication with said study?

It links the abstract in the article. Here is a link to the abstract:

LINK

"New Stanford research confirms that right-to-carry gun laws are linked to an increase in violent crime."
Close enough to "prove" for me.
He used some type of regression analysis which is slightly more robust than basic correlations but there are SO many confounding variables to control for (seriously? he controlled for crack as the only major confound?). I don't have time to read the other rebuttal article but I agree with the others:
Crap in = Crap out

You can make data fit your agenda if you have one. (This applies both ways).

ETA: from the article-
quote:

"Different statistical models can yield different estimated effects, and our ability to ascertain the best model is imperfect,"

It PISSES me off when they say the data "Proved" something. Data can be used to reject a Null hypothesis (It happened by chance alone). Data does not "prove" anything, it just helps us better understand possible explanations.

re: Best ~$50 flashlight

Coast makes some decent cost-effective flashlights. Walmart is selling three different sizes that go up to over 1,000 lumens (about $60). I picked up the mid-sized (about 650 lumens) for $50. Just an option if you don't want to order online.

1075 Lumens

629 Lumens

Bump for explanation of how you did it.

Nobody uses a Lansky anymore?

Absolutely no factual data to back this up. Urban legend.

I thought we were talking about rules of thumb and things our "pow pow's" taught us. Didn't realize we had to have factual data to back it up.

For example, I've always been told that when you're turkey hunting, if you hear an owl there's a good chance you will see some turkeys. Do I have to have hard data to back that up?

You can get a decent Kershaw for a few bucks more at walmart.

This, or even a Gerber. Nothing good comes from gas stations, except gas.

Local gun store selling this. What are y'all's thoughts on the price and the rifle in general

Palmetto State Armory had the same/similar AR for $399 after mail-in rebate ($449 before). You might want to check their deals page and comparison shop.

You'd have the same problem with the Grand Cherokee.
I have a 2012 CrewMax and LOVE it. My only complaint is the MPG. But I have stated in previous threads that I like to drive fast! I will only own Toyota trucks from now on.
I put a BSA Sweet22 on my .22 rifle. Got it for about $75 and it's been great. It has turrets for each grain .22 bullet. Just my .02
