That's correct, if there are financing incentives. You do understand that finance companies make money off of loans, right? It would make sense that they would offer enticements to use them, at times.

Wrong. First, often when you buy a car, there are rebates given by the manufacturer and then rebates given by factory finance companies. If you finance with an outside lender, you'll still get the first rebate but give up the second. Also, most of the time, if you take the "special APR", you give up the factory rebate.
Ex. Right now On a new Maxima, in my district, Nissan offers $4000 customer rebate, and $500 NMAC finance rebate. If you want to finance for 0%, you have to give up the $4000. If you decide to finance with an outside lender, you'd get the $4000 rebate, and give up the $500 NMAC financing rebate.

I guarantee what is "wrong with the loan" is that the guy or dealership lied about his financial situation. Customers will overstate their income quite often. When a bank is approving things on the fly, they approve by what the customer states, then go back and recheck it later. I guarantee the guy said he makes $40k and only makes 20. The first car I sold, the guy did that. Almost cost him the loan completely, as in this case, and did cost him about 5 interest points. He got pissed at us until my finance mgr. called him on it and told him he was lucky not to be walking. He backed off pretty quick

If I had every gun I've sold or traded, I'd have an arsenal. Of course I wouldn't have had half of them if not for those trades so I have mixed feelings. I almost stepped on this fella that was coiled up under the boat when we flipped it over one morning to go fishing. We planned on going before daylight but luckily I overslept. I never would've seen him if I hadn't.
