played in college but not the minors because I was going to go fly jets as soon as I could, got invited to a couple of tryout camps (Astros,Reds,) but it had passed me by, I’ve played with some great athletes, like you, that couldn’t get past a certain level and have seen some lesser guys advance (higher draft, bigger bonus, save face for the GM,) that’s a tough nut to crack but imo, it’s not travel ball that gets you there, it’s natural talent, drive, and a bit of luck, I can say without a doubt that some of the best athletes I’ve ever seen were unable to play beyond junior high school because of the poverty conditions of their families

was watching some ESPN time killer during the off season of everything and it was some kind of fundraiser with a bunch of ooooold timer former MLB players, what she was doing there I haven't a clue but she was pitching to this old black big leaguer, former Met iirc, and you could tell the old dudes were just shucking and jiving around, and drinking, just having fun, she "fires" what I guess she thought was a badass fastball to the guy and his demeanor changed instantly, competitive fire back in his eyes, he drilled her next pinch way over the (shortened for the girls,) field, hilarious
