re: LSU MBB has two top tier players and a really good supporting cast

McMahon is a different guy on the sidelines this year . Both with the players and even the referees. I don’t believe he as gotten a technical in 3 years and in the first two games he seemed close to getting one . It’s nice to see him show some signs of energy this year and I’m optimistic this may be a team that can compete with the middle of the pack of the conference this year

We may be the only school in the country that has people say “ frick MBB” , a very dumb fanbase

Fears looks bigger to me then he did last year in college . Thought he may be a tad undersized but he looks the part for an nba point guard

This is a horrible take and thread should be deleted . Men’s basketball is the second biggest sport and in some places the biggest sport on campus . Once lsu decides to invest properly and hire a good coach it will thrive

Bc he’s a guy that’s been around major college basketball for years and has came from a basketball school like Indiana . He was hired to take Tim Kaines position who was a guy that never was qualified to be an assistant coach and is just one of McMahons guys that he’s been knowing since they were young

Pretty significant loss , he was a very good hire and someone much needed like him on this staff . He most likely
Saw an opportunity to go back to his Alma mater and have much more job security . Where as at LSU currently , everyone realizes this is a make or break year for the current regime . And he just lost his job at Indiana bc of the same situation

Queen has the ability to be a good defender , he shows flashes . He just has to want to be a good defender

You rarely see guys going into their third year with the team that drafted them on summer league rosters

I’ll be surprised if missi isn’t on the roster . Doubt he plays all 4 games but he should play a couple

Summer league team should be fun . Fears , queen , missi , reeves , and potentially the 40th pick .

I want fears bad . Feel like he could be a star , but I’m leaning towards thinking he will be gone by 7

Wade picked up Darrion Williams yesterday , first team all Big 12 , and may have been the top guy left in portal. Could very well be a preseason top 25 team

We have 3 spots open , it doesn’t have to be one or the other as long as we can afford both
re: Jefferson Iowa State

It’s nuts bc it’s LSU basketball actually doing it . Great to see we are finally showing a willingness to invest that we should have been doing for years

Dude can play , crazy number though , if this happens it seems like we aren’t messing around and the investment in basketball is fully on lol

Except Gates had already proven prior to this season he can win in the SEC . McMahon hasn’t proven anywhere close to that level
re: I’m good with putting all finances towards football and baseball
Posted by polarbear6 on 3/16/25 at 1:01 pm to tigerskin
Auburn and Tennessee are both football schools that are competitive in baseball and basketball . That’s what this whole topic is about and what people can’t seem to realize LSU can also do instead of picking baseball or basketball . It’s not a either / or it’s a want to be good at both which is very achievable while still realizing football will get most of the attention

Well to start if we look at 4 schools similar to ours in Alabama , Auburn , Florida , and Tennessee . All four are considered “ football schools “ , and they all have current teams ranked in the top 25 in baseball and all four have highly competitive basketball programs that expect to get in the tournament every year . Auburn and Alabama for example had inconsistent basketball programs for years before they decided to “ invest “ in great coaches and have taken off ever since. And they did that and are still competitive in both baseball and football
