re: Rank these 4 bands: The Eagles, Boston, Chicago, Steely Dan

Say what you will about Boston but a girl turned me on to their first album when I was in junior high. My horny junior high self will always love that band.

A live album cover with humorous stories about the Beatles
quote:
I missed out on alt.country during its heyday in the '90s.
Same here. The 2011 Gram Parsons tribute album “Return of the Grievous Angel” sent me down a rabbit hole of Americana musicians.
Was recently listening to a Emmylou Harris cover of Joni Mitchell’s “The Magdalene Laundries” and thought what a shame it is that we didn’t get to hear her record more music with Gram. That led me to do some research on his death and I learned about the theft of his body by his road manager — there are some legendary rock-and-roll tales out there but this has to be one of the most bizarre.
Regarding Lennon’s comment that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus…
“And people lost their shite. And by people, I mean the southeastern United States.”
- John Craigie on his album Lonely Revolver.
He also talks about the challenge of doing a solo concert covering a full Beatles album…
“It’s intimidating, but it’s also great because if it goes badly and you guys don't like it... I can just look at you and say, ‘Well, I didn't write this shite.’”

I live in Raleigh. My State friends are not happy with me. They had high hopes for Wade.

Gotta be the album version though because it features Bob Seger
Definitely good. The acoustic version without him is good too.
When did they start naming winter storms?

Seems I missed that.
re: Hottest and coldest place you’ve been to

Hottest:
Late spring, some small town in southeast Louisiana — DeQuincy, if I remember correctly. Loading big-arse burlap sacks of sheep wool onto train container units. Miserably hot. I wanted to quit so bad. The two older guys who were hired with me did quit. My coach, who hired us, had to go find two guys in a bar to help me finish the job. I just couldn’t look Coach in the eye and tell him I was quitting. Or tell my parents I quit.
Coldest:
Gunstock Mountain in New Hampshire, on a snow lift. It was brutally cold. Every time we got on the lift, we’d say “it’s too cold, this is the last one.” Then we’d get to the bottom of the run and say “damn, that was good, let’s go again.”

Yeah, I was thrown out of the same bar twice one night.
I got kicked out of Tiger Stadium twice in one game. They didn’t give me a chance to make it three times because they put me in the paddy wagon after the second time.

Yeah Jay thinks he’s the smartest guy on earth.
I don’t think he spends a lot of time comparing his intelligence to others. I think he studies the game, his team, and his opponent, and he makes decisions that he believes will help his team win.
Based on his record though, he is smarter than most of the people on this board.

FFS, how fricking lazy can someone be to complain about having to change channels. This isn’t 1981 when you had to stand up and walk over to the tv and turn the knob.
Yeah, you’re right. Except if you’re like me and recorded the game because you couldn’t watch until later. Didn’t matter ultimately but would have sucked if it had been a close game.
