Saban was one of the best coaches of all time, and definitely won't be easily replaced. I think we are seeing that now.

I definitely blame coaching on this loss. Team didn't seem prepared at all and play calling very suspect.

Where do they land if they end up winning this one? Top 5? :nana:

Very true.. Saban has it made now.. not sure he will ever go back to coaching again.

Impressed with Michigan's defense considering all the starters who sat this one out.

Petrino has been a very good offensive coach. He also brings a ton of baggage, which includes a history of backstabbing his superiors, as well as off-the-field stuff and just being an a-hole in general.
A head coach in his first year on that particular job with no connection to Petrino probably didn't want to put up with the other stuff that comes with having Petrino on your staff.
Very great points.. maybe Elko didn't feel comfortable with Petrino on his staff for these very reasons. Never thought of it that way.

Yes, I was shocked when Petrino said he basically had to run the offense with Jimbo terminology.. so it set him back big time. Maybe if Fisher would have let Petrino just run the offense things might have worked out. We will never know now.

I think he will be fine.. tough 1st game and he didn't look like he felt good either?
A&M and Petrino

Serious question.. why did Elko not try to keep Petrino? From watching the game last night it looked like the QB play isn't as good, or am I just imagining that? Look.. I'm not complaining as we got lucky and got Petrino back... just hard to believe he didn't try to keep him.

I was having a Chad Morris flashback during that last drive. I mean I still think Napier has time to turn it around but really makes you wonder the way that game ended.
