A&M is an actual rival and not "forced"..still not sure why we stopped playing in early 90's...I for one am glad to have them back! Bye Arky...have your rival with Mizzou now!

LSU called it quits after they got tired of A&M handing them their asses 5 years in a row. Backed out of the contract and used conference expansion as an excuse.
This topic has come up recently on another message board, and most folks seem to think Houston has the largest alumni for both A&M and LSU. Can anyone verify for LSU?
Unless I was Alabama or Florida I wouldn't really want them either.
Evidently, when sips are coming off a 5-7 season including home losses to Baylor and Iowa State they submerge themselves in Aggie internet rumors on an LSU fansite.

One of the things I will look forward to is the Aggie Band playing Johnny Comes Marching Home in Oxford.

That means that LSU shut Gray down in the second half. 32 yards in the second half.

Teams that are behind in a ball game typically tend to throw the ball.

poor dumb aggie, you haven't even had the best O-line in the big 12 south in recent years.

Would you like to compare the academic credentials of A&M and Okie Lite?

And further, I'm not talking about recent years. I'm talking about the 4 years that Trey Williams and Matt Williams will spend playing in the backfield. Last year there were something like 9 true freshmen starting on the OL among BCS schools. 2 of those were on A&M's line. Cyrus Gray rushed for over 1,100 yards behind that line and C-Mike ran for 600+ before breaking his leg in game 6. Dana Holgorson doesn't coach in Stillwater anymore. I think your disappointment is affecting your ability to think clearly.

2 high school kids just realized they could spend 4 years playing behind the best O line in the country.
Something tells me LSU won't be getting him.

Well it wasn't that long ago that A&M was handing annual losses to the likes of LSU and texas, and in the early days of the Big 12, OU as well.

A&M is not a distant 4th in terms of recruiting. That is wishful thinking on your part I'm afraid. Around the same time OU, texas, and LSU where/are being lead by the likes of Stoops, Brown, Saban, and Miles, A&M was dealing with the Fran era. Hell, even Fran had a couple of elite recruiting classes. A nine or ten win A&M team will out recruit every school in this country (with the exception of a split with texas) for high school kids in the state of Texas.

As for you're comment on tradition and state school, I'm not sure I even know how to respond to that.

A&M was on TV for 8/12 regular season games this year. Not bad for a team with a combined win count of 10 the previous 2 seasons. Here's a peak at one in particular: [url]LINK ]

Outside of Texas, nobody gives a flying F about A&M. I know its hard for my aggie buddies to think this, they think everyone across the country gets them and their tradition. Truth is that its a Texas thing, if you arent from Texas or an alumni of A&M, they really arent that big of a name.

With all due respect I've lived outside of the state of TX for the better part of a decade. You are indeed ignorant. Texas A&M is the 7th largest school in this country. It is a member of the American Association of Universities. You are letting your disdain for Aggies influence your opinion.

Plus when A&M's DC takes a head coaching job next offseason half of those Defensive recruits will jump ship.

How many of those recruits were recruited by the DC?

Why a player from Texas would choose A&M over UT, OU, or LSU is beyond me.

You are either very young, very ignorant, or both.
No rational Aggie fan would argue that A&M owns LA. Mike Sherman has absolutely made some strides in sportsmen's paradise, but in no way is he close to going toe to toe with Les. He has simply hand picked more than a few very talented athletes out of LA that for one reason or another didn't get offers from LSU. I'd be more than happy letting LSU take their picks, and let A&M continue to beat the likes of Ole Miss and Auburn for the not so sloppy seconds. If Sherman continues his recent success in Aggieland I could see him taking an otherwise LSU commit every other year or so, but the only school that will ever own LA recruits is in Baton Rouge.

Big Kat,

With all due respect, as an Aggie fan, what compels you to put that kind of thing on this board?
TCU's recent rise as well as their announcement to join an AQ conference, along with A&M potentially making some noise in the next few years does not bode well for Les' intentions to recruit TX.
