re: Why isn't AI more appreciated?

If anything AI is waayyy OVER appreciated...give me Tony Parker or Manu over him anyday...hell Manu has made a living off the bench, AI REFUSED to come off the bench, he'd rather retire...it was beneath him.

Ummm...sorry but he doesn't get extra points for being tiny. It's a big man's game, if you're small and you can hang that's fine...but it's just funny everyone using the word sacrifice and effort...how about a little sacrifice of the ball and a little effort to not be a horrible teammate? Once again, I'm so glad the post-jordan depression era of the east is over. The east was UNBEARABLE during that time.

He's actually right. Sure, Iverson busted his tail every night shooting 22 times, but that doesn't mean that dikembe wasn't working just as hard defending the basket, or eric snow wasn't working just as hard locking down and distributing. Iverson is a posterboy for a horrible phase in the NBA...the volume scorer. Mcgrady, Carter, AI, etc were poor on the ball defenders and never won anything.....the east was just turrible.

Those sixers teams were actually pretty good considering how weak the east was at the time. They seem weak to the casual fan because they lacked flashy scorers (besides AI)...this was done on purpose. Basically, they had AI the one man offensive threat and then surrounded him by great fitting role players, unselfish defenders to be exact. It made for a good team considering the conference, but basically any volume scorer could have done similar with that team.
It's like as soon as someone isn't in the spotlight they are forgotten...Tim Duncan's career is what Kevin Durant is praying to have! Yet let's laugh at the thought of taking the guy who has accomplished great things for a decade and a half over the guy who is hot at the moment...
Ummm....yeah. Tim Duncan is BY FAR the most underrated player of his generation. He's won 4 titles, and has done it with multiple players. He benefits from a GREAT coach and admiral/manu/parker...but the fact is he is just as good if not better than Malone, Garnett, and Barkley. Today's generation has never appreciated him because he is THE BIG FUNDAMENTAL...nothing flashy, just wins.

Bottom line...LBJ may develop a consistent offensive move that will allow him to prolong his career ala Kareem or MJ, but if you were to take his current game and remove his quickness no one would fear him. There are tons of guys in the league with his size and strength...what sets him apart is his quickness...just as it did for Shaq.

He's already a better outside shooter at this point in his career than Jordan

Lol, no. He gets great looks because teams dare him to shoot so he won't dunk at will. If he lived off jumpers he wouldn't be anything special.

When Lebron gets older he's just going to start using his size even more and powering through people in the post

Yes, but without the insane speed larger defenders will be able to check him. Shaq declined rapidly because his game was based on agility and speed ALONG WITH size and power.
He hates playing Melo because he gives him tons of space and dares him to shoot. That is the plan that kept Lebron from winning rings up until last year. The Heat finally corrected this by putting him on the block waayyy more. By doing this, he forces double teams or gets a look close to the rim. I honestly believe Lebron could have 3 rings already if he would have been in the post from day one. Jumpshots and the temptation to be a guard on every play really killed him.

LBJ fans are going to be really upset when they realize that once he isn't the most explosive player in the game he tanks...fast. Mj's game could survive losing a step. For the last half of his career he played "old man" ball. Angles, fakes, and jumpers. Lebron is the best in the world because he's bigger, faster, and stronger. Once this goes, he will most likely stop winning rings. LBJ finally won a ring last year because he realized this and stopped shooting jumpers in the finals.

In other words, Kobe is more like MJ...and believe it or not LBJ is more like Shaq. Dominant, but mainly because of athleticism.

Tough to compare eras. Lbj is the best athlete the league has ever seen. He cost himself quite a bit by waiting 8 seasons to find himself as a Player. He should have been in the post years ago. Too many jumpers cost him multiple rings early on IMO. Gonna come down to his ability to recreate himself once his speed is gone. I'd say he ends up top 5, with his haters saying he didn't win 5 rings so he's no Kobe or mj. His lovers will disregard and put him tops. I hate that none of his coaches had him on the block earlier. That will prolong his career, ala mj.
He's clearly right people...its much easier for espn to pump up the accomplishment. It wouldn't sound as good if they said wilt did it 15 times...which he probably did.

Mark Jackson was in his 14th season dude... He had two stints with the pacers. Get your facts straight.

Your slanting facts. What year was he in when they made it to the finals? Exactly...old man.

For a while the western conference finals was the finals.... The east couldn't even compete.

Mark Jackson was past his prime....took advantage of a weak eastern conference like Lebrun and ai.

The carry your team to the finals without talent argument is bs...role players mean a ton in the nba. Reggie miller led a team to the finals....role players left and right. The cavs and especially sixes were built to serve the star. They didn't need more stars to score with iverson, they needed defenders and rebounders.

The west during that time had a spurs team that swept the shite out of the cavs...and the suns were right there with the spurs...took em to 7 one year.
