re: Barners, confidence level against State?
Posted by Ptolemy on 9/7/11 at 7:31 pm
Shouldn't be too high after last week. Especially after relying on an onside kick to win. :rotflmao:
I'll just simply state this. State ran around 4 total offensive plays last week and scored at will, pulling starters in 3rd. Defense was without 2 starters the entire game. Given Memphis is pretty terrible, then again so is a 4-8 Utah State team. MSU played on road and AU at home. Auburn better be able to score 42 in this one or it will be a long day on the Plains. Also, MSU didn't show one blitz the entire game while AU had to pull out all stops to come from behind from a inferior opponent. Unless Chizik has another $200k QB he's hiding, its gonna be a long day and the Orange and Blue faithful will be leaving well before they did against Utah Junior College.
I must say that Cam was the best $250k investment I've seen in recent memory. Look at team Before Cam, during Cam, and after Cam. That explains it all. Doesnt take a Bama grad to figure that one out. :banghead:

What???????half of this thread is people doing this.
Les MIles could have been the eyewittnes and people would be trying to discredit him.
Youre better than that rummy.
If Miles had been an eyewitness, would anybody on this board, or any human of English speaking descent, actually be able to decipher what he was actually trying to say?
The police would probably throw out his statement and go :banghead: !

This in what way is valid to the point that it was between OM and MSU and OM won? I think you are missing the whole point where Mullen sucks at recruiting and are just happy that when he lost it didn't come back to bite you in the arse.
Well judging from where each team (Nutt's 4th class and Mullen's 3rd) is and the on field results of last season, and 2011 projections, that leaves two choices. A: Nutt is a shitty developer of talent. B: Mullen is a good evaluator and developer of talent
I'm pretty sure you can look at the stats of Chris Relf over his career as a cheat sheet for this question. Or you can look at Jevan Snead's progression under Nutt for further comfirmation of the correct answer.
:rotflmao: Very Strong kool-aid in Lafayette County recently. Much stronger than usual. :rotflmao:

I think Ole Miss wins the egg bowl this year
We also beat a ranked LSU team at Baton Rouge and a #7 Texas Tech team. State beat two teams that finished with winning records. Florida at 8-5 and Michigan at 7-6.
Check those defensive stats from the Big-12 that year. I've seen playstation leagues with better defensive numbers. No big accomplishment there.
It's really not that difficult. Actually pretty basic math. Take each team, look what impact players are returning, evaluate the schedule, and make an educated prediction on the season. If you can honestly do this and say Nutt will, no doubt, take the golden egg, then I would seek some expert psychological assistance.

State might be at 4 wins though. They weren't very good last year but benefited from a few teams being down, they didn't beat any good teams, so they shouldn't have as easy a schedule. Ole miss should win 6 or 7 including the egg bowl, 35 10 with a knee Rebs..
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: Some good stuff right there. Must be some extra delusion added to that koolaid up there in oxford this year.
Team A: Wining 9 games. Took Ark to 3 OT's and a dropped pass away from beating the eventual national champs sounds like a real shitty team. Also returning 15 starters and most #2's.
Team B: Losing to Jacksonville State and Vandy in opening month. Get throttled for most of season. Run off best QB, and have 0.00000 experience at QB.
Which team looks more likely to win more games and EB in 2011?
I think I may be going out on a limb here, but I believe its better to beat the shitty teams than lose to them. Because if you beat them, you know you arent shitty.

23. Ronnie Wingo
24. Marquel Wade
25. Darius Winston
So you leave off the returning SEC's top scorer from 2010? Scored even more PPG than Cam, and was splitting time between 2 other RB's until game 4 of the season and still averaging over 5 YPC.

Actually Troy State was in 2001 under Jackie Sherrill. State was pre-season number 20 in the AP poll.
I agree though it would be a terrible hire if UNC hired Croom.
That 2001 season under Sherril was a complete zoo. I was at the Troy game. Just before halftime, a tornado ripped through campus, stadium evacuated, and game resumed 2 hrs later. Field was flooded with about 6 inches of standing water on sidelines. Complete mess. And then there was the game.

Maine and Troy State. Bullies can't say anything about losing to 1-AA/FCS schools. That is all.
I'll never accuse you of being a slow one, but those were under the Crooms era. Hence the reason I said he was a horrible coach who repeatedly tried to fit square pegs into round holes. :banghead: And it would practically be a self imposed death penalty if UNC hires crooms. That is all.

Crooms took the mutts to a place they don't make 90% of the time at the end of the season, a fricking bowl. It's Mississippi fricking state, no coach could consistently win at that shite stain. Mullins gets his cock sucked for beating one team in his division and beating 0 good teams last year. I bet he's loving being in starksville, beat shitty teams and get his a-hole licked..
Rather have a coach who beats the shitty teams than one who loses to the powerhouses of Vandy and Jacksonville State. And by Mullen beating only shitty teams, I infer you are confirming what everybody else thinks about the bunch in Oxford, last season and this coming season.

If UNC doesn't take him, absolutely. His offenses weren't all that bad at MSU from what I remember. Not a whole lot of superstars to work with.
If averaging 17 points, on offense, isn't all that bad, then yes, they were great offenses.
I guess punting on 4th and inches and going for it on 4th and 15 are also smart moves on back to back drives in the same game. :banghead:

Croom is a professional playcaller - his players just sucked at executing them.
Crooms fit players into his shitty west coast offense, like a 2 year old fits a square peg into a round hole.

Hiring Crooms would be like a self imposed death penalty for any program. I don't believe the NCAA would penalize UNC any further, knowing about the certain forthcoming pain UNC was about to endure from Crooms.
