only for winners that is. if they were with some loser/me first organization then this wouldn't be a consideration

That's true, champions are gonna champion.

I'm really not surprised neither are going to participate. Both are advancing in age and are starting to break down. They're great players and they both know that the regular season and staying healthy for the long hail is more important than some exhibition.

It almost knocked the aging Knicks out of the playoffs that year, but when they got into the playoffs (and, therefore, a lighter schedule), they were able to play more closely to their potential.
I still believe we win that year if Ewing doesn't get hurt against Indiana.

I probably shouldn't have used the word dominant to describe that team. Yes they won 109 games but they didn't lead the American League in a single major pitching category. And the few offensive categories they led the AL in (homeruns, slugging percentage, total bases) were directly tied to their ability to hit a lot of homeruns thanks in no small part to Mantle and Maris combining for 115 homeruns that year. They were fourth in the AL in batting average, 5th in on-base percentage, 9th in walks despite Mantle and Maris combining for 220 walks, I guess that's what happens when only one player in the lineup is able to draw as many 40 walks and didn't even lead their league in runs scored. This is not an all-time great team if you go by traditional stats or advanced stats or any stat.
My GOD how did they ever win if they were that bad. Must've won the WC that year or something.

With the amount of money involved with the NFL, I'm really surprised no one has made an offer to the PA to set up a different league. At least that would force the owners action.
Because the majority of players have.......what's the word I'm looking for here.....oh yeah, a contract.

1961 Yankees were overrated. They did one thing really well: Hit homeruns. And that was more than enough to dominate a really weak American League at that time.
Not their fault, you play the teams on your sched as they are. And if the league is weak a dominant team should dominate. So no, not overrated.

This isnt the whole story. There was no point in signing an aging AS if James wouldnt resign.
If 'Zhilbear' had simply traded for STAT then they James resigns and we don't have a lockout. Really this lockout is a result of the monumental butthurt suffered last July by Dan Gilbert.

But I agree, they really should try to just stick it to the Man here.

I saw Ian Poulter grab his golf bag from his caddy and throw it as far as he could after missing his double bogey putt on 4 or 5 in the 4th round at Shinecock in the 2004 US Open.

Off the top of my head, I honestly don't know where Seton Hall is. They won it in basketball in the 80's I think. I know Villanova is in Philly.
Seton Hall is a Catholic school in South Orange, NJ.
