I agree the bamboo forest is interesting but only if you’re over there
I also recommended onsen. But do you watch several videos and make sure you understand what expected you as they will not make exceptions for tourist

Fortunate enough to travel to Japan for work as well as some vacations. May is a great time to-go.
Couple of notes. Keio hotel in Shinjuku for Tokyo is solid. Nice hotel, not insane pricing, and right at the station to bounce around to anyplace in Tokyo. Don't overspend on Tokyo hotel as you won't be there but to sleep. Most other business/tourist hotels in area are fine too.
Kyoto -> get an Airbnb vs. hotel. Trust me on this one. price is likely cheaper too. Stay in the Souther Higashiyama area vs. central Kyoto. Public transportation in Kyoto is mostly buses but still works well.
Day trip to Nara and river trip with historic train are musts.
Personal presence, unless you have specific plans in Tokyo, I would spend 5 days in Kyoto vs. Tokyo.
Best part of Japan is honestly just wondering around in either town.
I am taking my parents in late October and then back again for work....I don't know a few times (hopefully) in the next year.
good news is once you pay for airfare and avoid the most obvious tourist traps Japan is pretty cheap.
Happy to answer any questions as well!

As trailers go, using the "i've actually on done this twice" is one of the better unplanned winks to the audience.
+1 to the editor on that one.

Salida has their river feast late June too. 4th of July in small mountains is always a blast

Huge plug for Buena Vista and Salida. Not sure your plans or availability of hotel/Airbnb, but both towns are incredible to spend several days in.
Summit County is fine, but really just resort towns and well there’s a lot to do. There’s really no overall vibe to it.

Maybe a little late time wise, but would recommend AirBnb. stay new Isle de Cite, also the 6th gets my votes a few blocks off the river.
Even for just two people it is a great.

I am lucky enough to fly it once/twice a year for work to Japan. It isn't bad and beats the herringbone layout.

Not much if any…live in Clearwater and take 19/27/tollway to Tallahassee or Baton Rouge all the time. Much more relaxed and virtually as fast
Hotel recommendations for Zion, one night only
Posted by St. Pete Tiger on 2/15/26 at 3:17 pm
I have a conference in Vegas in June and the family is joining me to drive from Vegas to Denver via Utah, and Colorado.
Have everything sorted out, but the hotel room for Zion if anyone has any recommendations
Heading to Bryce as well for a couple of nights and then to Durango for a night if any grand thoughts as well
thanks

Yo!
My brother lives out in Salida and skis at Monarch most weekends during the winter and keeps seeing someone in Daniels jersey and LSU ski helmet
Anyone here match that description?

Yo...
Couple of thoughts from far too much experience in the field
- PW managers are cool, use the one built into Google, Windows, or Apple and let them generate the random pw for you.
- Use 2FA when ever offered. as noted earlier, it is a essentially a new pw each time
- Use PassKeys when offered. It is the new gold standard for MFA and slick user experience. the site/service you are using has to offer them. Removed the PW from the equation
- it is OK to write down passwords (for example the master PW for apple, google, PW manager, etc....). I would NOT carry with you.
Leave it in a desk drawer at your house in an envelope. If they break in to steal that, it is either A. Game over already for you or B. you have some crazy stuff you do online
