I'm 27 and I feel as in shape and as competitive as I ever have in pick up basketball and soccer....ran my first sub 6 minute mile of my life last week. I also do CrossFit, so there's that. According to this board, I should be crippled with a herniated disc with multiple SLAP tears whilst simultaneously blowing several men. So maybe I've got CrossFit all wrong.
If you're actually, Ya know, interested in getting in shape, then planet fitness is probably not the place to go.

That is completely absurd

Why is this completely absurd? Why has the specops community embraced this training style? How do you explain the proven effectiveness of the training protocol? Why has it exploded in popularity?

I'm genuinely curious on your answers to this one

What I don't get is somebody capable of a 285 clean and jerk only squatting 405. At my best I could squat 435 and there is absolutely no way in hell I could clean and jerk 285. I couldnt even clean it, much less press it. shite, I worked out with some currently prominent NFL football players who couldn't do that and they were squatting well into 500.

Well, for someone who squats 405 (assuming it is a full high bar Olympic style squat), they should actually be able to Cl & j more. Typically with the top lifters, you'll see a back squat that is 130% of your best Cl & j, with your front squat being around 110% of your best Cl & j and the snatch being around 80% of your best Cl and jerk. Assuming technique is solid, someone with a 405 high bar Olympic style back squat should be capable of around a 315 Cl and jerk.

relation of snatch and clean and jerk ratios

He also admitted he could have been in same shape doing conventional excercising. So pipe down sheepeople cultfitter

Since when are snatches and clean and jerks "conventional exercising"? Where the hell do you people come up with this bull shite. You know what the standard form exercise was in most commercial gyms was beforehand? Nautilus machines. I certainly didn't know what a snatch was until I found CrossFit, and most of the people in USAW today can say the same thing. Beyond that, what would conventional exercise be? Bosu balls and calf raises? How in the hell would someone snatch 120 Kgs utilizing just that as "conventional exercise." That's just a fricking nebulous term made up by the CrossFit haters.

Did a CrossFit guy bang your wife? Is this what this is all about and you're jealous and butthurt about it?
Sure are a lot of miserable fricks in here

Here at ft benning, a lot of the ranger guys are in he gym following CrossFit style workouts. Their job and lives depend on it. When I was at JEBLCFS, I'd see a lot of SEAL team guys in the gym doing the same thing. Am I gonna be one to believe a bunch of keyboard warrior losers on tiger droppings are in better shape than the elite special forces?

OP, you even admitted you are in the best shape of your life because of CrossFit. Outlaw is free to follow. So what's the big fricking deal?

I'm 24 years old, I went to college and majored in Agricultural business and Economics...definitely not a worthless degree. I'm stuck at home with my parents working on the farm making 21k a year with 24k in student loan debt, a truck payment with insurance, etc. I've built my credit rating up over 750 by working since I was 10 yrs old part time and always paying for my own stuff. I'm currently working on receiving an investment to get my own farm so I can move out and start my own life...I've been approved on the investment and representatives of the investment group are coming this week to verify that the company exists. Not all of us millenials are worthless..many of us are trying. The deck is way more stacked against us today than it was for Americans 50 years ago. I have confidence my generation will succeed.

I'm right there with you. I'm 27. I went to LSU on full scholarship. I have a bachelors and masters degree. I'm in the army. But I also am single and have a a ton of student loan debt. Is it suddenly a moral imperative that I get hitched instead of being fiscally responsible and paying off more debt?

You must be 12 beers in at least
I struggle falling asleep at night too. Things that help for me are daily meditation (try the headspace app), exercise (running, interval training, squats, Olympic lifts, crossfit), contrast and cold showers, reading a fiction book, fapping, melatonin, Tylenol pm and have had limited success with alcohol. Alcohol usually leaves me useless for the following day. Generally, if I stay away from coffee after 2 pm and I mentally And physically exhaust myself during the day, I don't have too much trouble falling asleep
Am I the only one who didn't think this guy was funny? Sorry, not trying to be a dick

My father and I decided to have her remains cremated

I put my dog down this morning

Her name was sandy and we got her October 31, 2000 when I was in middle school. She was a good dog and I basically grew up with her. In the last couple of months, she contracted terminal cancer. I was at basic training and AIT for the army in the fall and was convinced she would die before I got done. As luck would have it, I got out of AIT two weeks ago and came home for hometown recruiting. Her cancer had gotten worse, she dropped 5-10 lbs since I'd last seen her because she had trouble eating. She was bleeding from the mouth, drooling wherever she went and could hardly eat. I gave her a final bath last night and fed her donuts. This morning we took her to the vet where she went peacefully. She was very calm and layed down to go to sleep after the initial sedative was administered. I can tell you I haven't cried this much in a while...it sucks. In conclusion, this post is written without apology to those whose knees have never served as a resting place for a tired old dog. They wouldn't understand.
83 reps on 15.2...47 reps better than last year
