i agree with george. they probably thought that espn would get wind of it and fans would be pissed at Les for not being honest. any loss and then finding out would have led to an uproar and a national media circus about les and an embarrassment of coach k. having said that, the disease is different for everyone and he will have a transition period with the medicine. I know that this will only make the team mentally stronger. all of the coaches work on the game plan, they just need somebody who knows the playbook in and out and that is stud, plus i'm sure he knows something about calling a game. they will get it done. remember, this is not just a game, these coaches are responsible for developing all of the young men on the team, including many who have potential to make millions of dollars in pro football. they know they hold these kid's futures, hopes and dreams in their hands. they will not short change them. we are blessed to have les and his coaches. good luck coach K. fight the good battle. fight hard, fight long, hope to prevail.

lsu hasn't lost a bunch of games under les miles, but the majority that they have lost was because they got beat in a battle royale by the better team. most of the rest, a la Kent. in 2007, they lost because they didn't come out ready, not because of the other teams won with emotion. arky and ole piss have won games against us on emotion, but one is our historical rival and the other is quickly becoming it. chances are that oregon will not win the game on emotion.
Will our run d be better than last year?

i'm not worried about the corner and the edge, but the 1st two levels of the middle. i know pep wasn't the greatest, but can freak and brockers equal or surpass he and drake? is ferguson ready to contribute? whoever takes over the middle, they aren't as big as Kelvin and it would be unusual if they could be as productive in their first year starting there. i know if anybody makes it past them, their heads will be knocked off by loston and reid, but i worry if we have enough meat in the middle. the good news is we get to find out soon.

an opponent's emotion doesn't work on lsu, only hard grinding. oregon is not a grinding team and emotion can't carry them. lsu's emotion is the only emotion that can get lsu in trouble.

re: Jamie Howard Appreciation
Posted by Hired Gun on 8/1/11 at 10:32 pm
Jamie Howard got a free ride to LSU doing what he loved to do, supposedly. no telling all the finge beneifts he also received. hey, he practiced. in games, he lifted his arm up and threw the ball down the field, he handed off the ball. sometimes he even got tackled, but he always sweated a lot, all for the tigers, so let's praise him just for wearing the purple and gold. but let's not revise history and say he was anything but a miserable qb in a miserable time. he was garbage and his stats back it up. I'm sorry, but i expect more than garbage from my favorite team's qb. herb tyler came in the next year and by i think it was the kent. game which was like the third, fourth game showed more ability, more heart, more balls than Jamie had in his four years. Jamie may be a good guy, good for him, glad he's not emotionally scarred from hsi time on the team, but if i called myself a qb and took a scholarship to play at lsu and played like him, then i would be pretty humble around town too.

i agree, he got off to a fast start, faster then laron (yes, it's of french origin ); i hope he stays consistent like laron did. love watching him play the game.

re: Touchdown Poll

0-2 tds; i think we could dominate; or we could allow him to break loose for a good one; or he could get one hard-earned one; or he could get one on a break out and one hard-earned one. what i do not see is him breaking for two long ones or earning two the hard way. also, may be one in the heat of the game and one in garbage time.

i agree. i think they did it to "debunk" the "myth" that everybody is against the min. size limit. but everybody i know is against it including my father in law who has probably fished the basin over a thousand times in the last 40 years. at least with the Corps of Engineers, I can tell you that the Basin users know better than the scientists.

my father in law is a badass. used to tournament fish and was successful. he and i fish during the middle of the week a lot, mostly not with each other. he has caught two limits this year and has probably fished 8 times in last month, all of tues-thurs afternoons. i have never caught more than 7 and i have only done that a few times. :banghead:

:rotflmao:; NOBODY catches their limits most times they go out there... so, you really are a bass tourney fisherman. :rotflmao:
for the record, i think they need to make it something like five over 12" and five over 14" or some combo like that. anyhow, the fish are looking a lot better this year, more, bigger and all the 12-13" fish are fat like little footballs. if we can avoid a hurricane fish kill, the future looks bright and may be people will quit complaining.

everybody i talk to that fishes in there does not support it. every comment i saw on la sportsman under the pics of the fish kills after gustav was critical of the size limit. hard to believe their poll numbers. something like 17.5% of repsondents said they were "tourny fisherman". taht seems high, too. perhaps its just that the tourney fisherman are the only ones who can consistently catch keepers.

Give Alleva contract savings to Les after he wins NC in the fall.

ATTNETION MARTIN: Please do not waste any "extra" money on Alleva; he doesn't command it and we can find someone else that can do the same job.
