re: Tell me your experience if you own a Genesis GV80 or some other Genesis car.

I have zero personal experience. But FWIW (not much), I am negotiating with a wealthy (to put it mildly) Saudi Arabian family to set up a business in Dammam. The patriarch has gone to great lengths telling me how much he loves his Genesis. And no, he wasn't trying to sell me his or trolling me. This guy has a stable of top tier luxury rigs just because he can. He contrasted and compared each with his beloved Genesis and says he prefers it over any of the others.
Day ain't over, yet.

I retired at 59. After looking at options I went with one of the Christian based insurance programs primarily to protect against catastrophic situations but paid for most everything out of pocket. While I’m in good health, my wife has a number of issues and sees several specialists regularly. Even with that my total annual outlay was considerably less than if I’d have used one of the ACA promoted programs.

re: Anyone own a Stihl or Husqvarna clone chainsaw?
Posted by JohnnyT on 8/9/25 at 9:02 am to Crappieman
I don't have experience with any clones but on our ranch we've gotten away from buying any new Stihl saws after having reliability issues with them. I don't have any Huskies so can't comment.
We've gone to Echo over the last few years and are happy with them so far. The rationale was that even if reliability was no better at least I was paying less but so far we haven't had any issues. We're not doing any logging by any stretch but they get used a lot as we're clearing downed timber routinely and cutting firewood for cool weather.

His book about making the movie was a good read
Aren’t sugar beets a viable alternative? They grow across a wider range of climates and are, I think, less labor intensive.

Rain dumps in an area with dry soil, it can’t absorb the water fast enough and you get the run off from the hills.

WSJ - Germany Set for Trillion-Euro Defense and Infrastructure Splurge
Posted by JohnnyT on 3/21/25 at 9:04 am
Excerpt:
Germany’s spending plan, equivalent to around $1.08 trillion, has drawn cheers across a continent unnerved by signs that the U.S. is downgrading its security commitment to Europe and seeking a rapprochement with President Vladimir Putin’s Russia, which is seen as the region’s biggest threat.
“Berlin is breaking the piggy bank, and it’s doing it even before the next government is in office,” said François Heisbourg, a Paris-based expert on strategy and defense who has advised the French president. “Germany is giving itself the means to become a military force to match its economic and strategic weight. That’s a sea change.”

There isn’t. It changes you permanently and the level of suffering is indescribable. Especially the first 365 days after. Uou wake up everyday thinking about what you were doing with your child 1 year ago.
Yes. Your life has a permanent bookmark with every memory and event falling into the "before" or "after" category. The pain dulls a bit with time, but it's never gone.

I’ve got a 2014 model and it’s used almost daily as well. We pull a small utility trailer occasionally and our place has elevation changes of 100’ in a few spots. It carries four adults easily and sometimes more. I’m gonna keep ours till it drops dead.
So far, the Vikings are playing like willing accomplices

Back when I lived in Austin and before 8&4 was accepted into the SEC, I would periodically check in on TexAgs and the now closed Texas site (ShaggyBevo?) for a few chuckles. Both could be pretty witty, sometimes unintentionally (esp TexAgs). It was interesting to compare and contrast the tone and tenor of the two and seldom disappointed.
I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it for practice and perhaps you'll be able to fire enough of the old rounds to be confident in their reliability and performance. I personally would just save those for practice and buy a few boxes of fresh ammo. You'll need enough to zero your gun and be familiar with the ballistics of whatever round you settle on. Good luck!

There’s so much in your post to refute but I’m not gonna peck out a missive on my phone. The summary though would be that we’ve been patient, accommodating and compromised with leftists for decades in attempts to maintain some harmony. But it was all one way and no longer possible and tolerable. The atheist, anti-family, anti-freedom socio-Marxists have shifted the spectrum so far left that the current crop of Republican heroes are former Democrats.
