I agree that Cara Ursin MUST be a Lady Tiger, even tho Pointer is in the same class. We also just got a PG commitment from Jaelyn Richard-Harris of Houston, so we would be a little PG heavy, but that's okay. She also FINALLY got post commitments--one 6'6" and the other 6'5", her first posts in her tenure at LSU.

My bad, she did get Youngblood, who was suspended half of her 2 years here, not very effective when she did play, and transferred out after the 2 years.
she's rated a 4 star and in the top 100 by Blue Star Basketball, All Star Girls Report, and Prospects Nation. ESPN/Olson is the only major system to rate her as only 3 stars, and you might notice it was based on a 2013 evaluation. ESPN even still has her listed at 6
'3" and she's 6'5". :geauxtigers:
Stacie Terry has left LSU to become head coach at San Diego State.

This is, as usual not anywhere on the website; yet, she's not on the page of coaches for the coming year.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BRING BOB STARKEY HOME!!!!! I think we should offer him at least $250K, to try and make up for the fact that Alleva screwed him royally.

Over 23 years devoted to LSU basketball, and we couldn't find a place for him ANYWHERE? I put some of this on Nikki too. The two of them could have found or created some kind of position within the department where he could still contribute.

The man is, bar none, the best defensive mind in women's basketball.

I just pray we have the good sense to go to him on bended knee if necessary and also that he WILL come home.

BRING STARKEY HOME!!! BRING STARKEY HOME!!! BRING STARKEY HOME!!!
just a little on the motorcycle ride...

Holly Warlick is her co-captain on these things.

I do find their routes through nowhere a little bit odd though, hell why not at least go into some states where you might actually run into a summer league tourney or something useful.

But along the lines of who's minding the shop, now we know that one of our assistants might have been spending a little more effort on career advancement lately than putting in the extra hours to really do a good job in recruiting.

Now, Caldwell has to spend time finding a coach and, just as importantly, getting him or her up to speed and on the road quickly, etc.

And, Nikki is doing USA Basketball again this year

And, the team and all coaches (I presume)are going to Spain In August

Early signing period starts mid-November...oh well :geauxtigers:

The NEXT announcement had already happened when you posted that. Just fricking look it up.

I tried looking it up with no success; perhaps you could share your wisdom and guide me as to where I should look. I don't know what I'm supposed to Google or whatever, but I'm not finding anything recent except Harden, Hill, and Bethel.

I just pray that the next transfer they are gonna announce (Bethel's is still not even on the website) is a front court player with some sort of proven talent.

Your prayers were answered yesterday.

Question: How exactly is that?

First of all, I'm referring to the NEXT announcement referenced in the article. Secondly, no matter what Nikki says (which, duh, is all going to be positive---she doesn't want to make herself and staff look bad)the young lady, even at 6', does not remotely answer my prayers for a TRUE front court player. Further Ms. Bethel didn't get PT on a mediocre WVU team; I'm not sure exactly what that my indicate, so I'll leave it to all of our imaginations. I guess I should have specified that it might require a little bit of size to fulfill my request.

Once again, I really, really hope she proves me wrong, and I will be the first to acknowledge and applaud her if she does.

GEAUX LADY TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My primary point in the previous post was we DESPERATELY need height for '14, and lots of it. Tank and Shelia will be our only front court players left going into '14. Neither of these young ladies is Sylvia Fowles, so it is impossible to get by with that as a front court and a buttload of guards.

True depth is a good thing to have, but we DO NOT need warm bodies. We need people who can make an impact---not expecting All-American here, just real, tangible contributions. Further, if we're gonna front-load the '14 class before we even get actual class of '14 players, we must focus on height, as I referenced above. As I said before, our current (2013) roster will go into '14 with 6 guards and 2 forwards. Now we've added another guard for '14.

I do like the fact, at this point at least, that she will be a junior so that if she doesn't work out well, we won't have used the scholly for a full 4 years.

My bottom line is I love my Lady Tigers dearly and have followed them since the inception of the program. I don't expect all of signees to be High School All Americans, but a few never hurt anybody. Further, I am one who believes that Nikki and Co. know what to do with talent, maybe a little bit better than they are a developing players.

That said, I bet the bunch of them is kicking themselves in the arse daily for letting Bianca and TP ride the pine so much last year. Van also wasted Bianca for 2 years---Adrienne and his '08 class (his first and best) were his babies, getting the huge bulk of PT.

I just pray that the next transfer they are gonna announce (Bethel's is still not even on the website) is a front court player with some sort of proven talent.

GEAUX LADY TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2014 Get Another Guard Transfer---she doesn't sound too impressive I'm afraid. I honestly hope she proves me wrong

why has LSU never made a statement of any kind about Jefferson's NOT coming? they have a very bad habit of just "not reporting" negative news about ANY of our programs, recruiting, team/individual performances.

this affliction affects all quote "LSU media sources"----the Advocate, NOLA (Times-Pic), TV, etc. just omit negative facts about the sports.

case in point is the fact that our baseball team AND Bregman and Katz have been in what could be called a slump compared to the rest of their respective seasons---not a word about it. The first mention I saw/heard of any of it was during the Friday game against Florida, during which they actually showed a graphic detailing Katz's numbers for each month of the season, reflecting an obvious negative trend in the last 3 weeks.
RE: FORWARDS WE'RE IN THE LEAD FOR

can you give us a hint? are they both 2014s? how tall are they (roughly)? what region of the country? who are we fighting with for them? was one of them Azura Stephens? if so, the train's already left on that one.

### on another note, Harden went to OU her freshman year, then left and finished 2 year program at Johnson County CC. since she's coming straight from a "junior college", there is no waiting period required
he and Shane Hammink, Geert's son, signed NLI's yesterday with LSU

:geauxtigers:
totally agree...their peers are some of the best recruiters. they can give them a jump start to look at something they may have never thought of, give info and opinions on folks they're already looking at, etc.

with elston, patterson, and alexander all having us in their top 2, what on earth do we do if we get NLIs from all of them?

We are one of Baker's final 6, and she'll have official visit on 10/22.

LINK

Of course, we already got the fourth best PG in Danielle Ballard out of Memphis some time ago

LINK

Big Time wing, Alexis Prince is coming for an official on 10/8---lots of boards have us with an inside shot at her. I'm hoping that after our visit, she cancels the last 2 and commits.

LINK

I don't want to make this a bash Nikki board, but the recruiting, which everybody said would be great, ain't looking even good. Even if we get Prince (who we HAVE to get) and Baker---we don't want to have an 11 player roster...lose 5, add 3 Also, Baker is rated well by most sites,, but not much higher than 90. Derreyal Youngblood out of Curtis is only rated by one service, but they have her in the top 50. She is a beast, but not a top recruit. I love LA girls, but we shouldn't have to resort to lower tier girls.

No Cali players are even looking at us, Hollivay, the big post outta Miss is looking at State and Ole Miss, among others over us. There aren't even 10 players left in the Top 100 who we even have a shot at, and Prince is the highest one of them. Only ONE of those 80 some odd who have already committed even CONSIDERED LSU. This does not sound good to me

We do have some (4) quality girls looking at us for '13, but how do you know who to push hard for when you don't know what you need, 'cause you only have one commit less than 8 weeks before NSD?

But then LSU and TAF have had Nikki so busy making personal appearances, when the hell is she gonna recruit? I just keep hoping for a SURPRISE, like Hollivay maybe has been making unofficials and will commit, or SOMETHING. Problem is---there aren't many big possibilities out there. If we can get Prince, we may need to take Baker (have to have a 2 guard), and look at just one more, and it has to be big girl--maybe Youngblood. You never know what these young girls may develop into. Then focus on the EXTREMELY loaded '13 class...quickly. I think the evil Kim just got a '15!!! (she's gonna just start taking them straight from the womb, I think)

Lastly, I'm afraid that Summit's dementia may be having an indirect impact on us. Kids are already saying "well Caldwell didn't even stay at UCLA but 3 years, that's not even a whole class worth". The minute she hit town, speculation started as to whether she would be the heir apparent to Pat. Well, now it's obvious that Pat's gonna need that heir sooner than later, so the kids may be thinking "well, she's just gonna go to Tenn within 3 years" Not saying any of that will happen, 'cause I think Warlick probably has Pat's job, but you never know.

Women's Basketball adds 2011 #27

Posted by tigermojo1 on 6/29/11 at 5:36 pm
Shelia Boykin, ranked 27 by ESPN and recently given release of LOI by UCLA is coming to LSU to play basketball.

Gonna give us EIGHT front court players this year, so playing time may be one of major issues for NC this year. But we do lose 4 frontcourt players at end of the season.

This will help tremendously since we are obviously gonna need bigs and there simply aren't alot of high quality forwards in '12 to around, thus lifting some pressure on the recruiting we're doing now

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

ELITE 8 2012!!
I kinda disagree with the post about ladies not being capable of making layups.

I've been watching women's hoops for over 30 years and can remember cringing with every fast break because I knew someone would blow a layup. That rarely happens now with quality teams, especially when uncontested.
Hey Nerdguy...

Cox, FoxSports, and ESPN all carry games, pay attention---not a week goes by that there aren't several women's games if you just look!
just read on UCLA board that Nikki will be bringing her entire staff with her

I was naively hoping she would just bring Tasha Butts as post coach and keep Bob and Travis.

Who knows?
my previous post was meant to be in response to this post

"The racism, sexism and utter stupidity in this thread amaze me. You know who you are."

Please let's not make this a thread about women's sports and sexuality---just not appropriate.
The only sexist thing I will say is that she will be much nicer to look at that than Ole Van was!
