FIFA finds 'no evidence' of racist gesture by VAR assistant
ESPN News Services
Jun 15, 2026, 06:21 PM ET

FIFA said Monday it found no evidence that VAR official Shaun Evans intentionally made a racist hand gesture ahead of Sunday's FIFA World Cup game between Germany and Curaçao.

When the official broadcast of Germany's opening game against Curaçao cut pregame to show the team of video review analysts, Evans, who is from Australia, made an "OK" symbol with his right hand in front of his right leg.

The gesture -- with thumb and forefinger touching in a circle and other fingers outstretched -- has been associated with white supremacy. In 2019, it was designated a hate symbol by the New York-based Anti-Defamation League.

"FIFA's independent Disciplinary Committee can confirm that, after looking into the matter involving support video assistant referee Shaun Evans, it has found no evidence of breaches of the FIFA Disciplinary Code," the governing body said in a statement Monday.

The OK gesture was appropriated a decade ago as a signal for white supremacy that started as a hoax on the far-right online message board 4chan.

The sign got global attention in March 2019 in New Zealand, after it was made during the first court appearance by the white supremacist shooter who killed 51 Muslim worshippers at two mosques in Christchurch.

Summary: As a goof, 4chan users started a hoax to find out if hatemongers and race baiters (apologies for the redundancy) would fall for a completely fabricated new racist gesture (Chinese eyes was and is still the GOAT while "OK fingers" was and is lame as frick). The race machine predictably fell for it. A dude in New Zealand used it in 2019. New York fell for it bigly, codifying the fake gesture as if they were the arbiters of such things. Since a dude in New Zealand used it in 2019, an Australian accidentally using it in Houston 7 years later on the opposite side of the planet gets investigated (by FIFA ) yesterday seemingly because Australia is near New Zealand.

F soccer. I would post this story on the Soccer Board, but I don't want to catch the gay.
Updated from page 3:

According to Baseball America, we have the 2 highest ranked transfers in the portal in Bino Watters (#1overall) and Landon Hood (#2 overall), as well as the #26 guy in Dawson Park.

LINK

Tennessee has #4, and #34
Mississippi State has #16, and #19
Georgia Tech has #12, and #25
Florida has #20, and #28
Miami has #8
Texas has #11
North Carolina has #21
Virginia has #29
Vanderbilt has #33
NC State has #48
Connecticut has #50

and not a single current LSU player who has entered the transfer portal is considered a top 50 portal prospect. Unlike South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, and Texas A&M.

Seems more like we're still outdoing every SEC team at the moment.

Kevin Schnall Expected To Be Hired As South Carolina Baseball Head Coach

South Carolina’s search for a new baseball coach may have taken longer and stretched wider than initially expected, but the outcome is the one most anticipated all along: The Gamecocks are expected to hire Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall to lead the program.

Schnall arrives in Columbia with a brief but highly accomplished head coaching resume. In his first season at Coastal Carolina in 2025, he guided the Chanticleers to the national championship series and was named Baseball America Coach of the Year, becoming the first-ever first-time head coach to earn the honor. He also became just the fourth coach in NCAA history to take a team to the College World Series in his debut season and the only one to win his first game in Omaha. Coastal ultimately finished as national runner-up to LSU.

Give me the job. Give me a laptop or phone connection and I'll do that job 10 times better for half the cost.

He has sucked all season.

Ingredients:
1/2 lb (2 sticks) unsalted butter
2 yellow onion, finely diced
1 green bell pepper, finely diced
3 stalks celery, finely diced
1 Tbsp garlic, minced
5/8 cup all-purpose flour
1 quart seafood stock
2 lbs Louisiana crawfish tails with fat (or substitute Gulf shrimp, peeled and deveined)
Cajun seasoning and salt to taste
1/4 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped
1 cup green onion tops, sliced
Cooked white rice for serving

This looks like a pretty standard recipe.

What variations to it were you thinking about when you said that people tend to overcomplicate it?

Head Coaches get overruled in free agency, but I've rarely heard of one getting told what to do with the draft. Usually they are the ones calling the shots in the draft as to whom to select ultimately.

But the Rams drafting a QB makes sense, Stafford is coming to the end of his shelf life after 17 years. The question is, would Simpson be the right guy to back up or even to replace Stafford.

He probably is not. Probably should have stayed at Alabama another year.

You think he would have been drafted higher next year?

This was a weak QB draft. Next year will be stronger.

Back up your theory and list next year's QBs likely to be drafted in the 1st round and include Simpson.

But I do agree the Rams had to draft a QB. Old man Stafford could get hurt this year. Might need someone to compete against Stetson Bennett. AND they need competition for next year's starter to begin this season. The last thing they would want is to have to hand the reigns to Bennett next season under the conditions that the Cleveland Browns faced last season.

I have been needing a mattress for quite a while. Every time I decide to pull the trigger, I get overwhelmed with the amount of choices price ranges available and just give up.

Just get any low priced 4 star mattress in a box off of Amazon.

Over 20 years in our house we gradually replaced the mattress in every bedroom, each with a different brand. 4 cheap memory foam mattresses and everyone who stays insists it is the most comfortable mattress they have slept in. No one can tell them apart.

Ppl tend to believe a Southern accent = lack of education.

Libs started that shite.

I think it's more than that. Any regional accent tends to lead others to view you as a caricature and slightly ignorant. I found that to be the case when I moved to Texas and found myself in a job that put me in frequent contact with people from all over the US. So I worked on pronouncing words the way they are spelled rather than the way I learned to mimic others.

The lack of education association is also a reasonable conclusion. What other conclusion are they supposed to reach when they hear words pronounced in a way that contradicts the spelling of ordinary words. Worcestshire for example is a common word to hear variations in pronunciations.

Conclusions of ignorance come from additional syllables that don't exist or pronunciations that don't match letters:

oil - url
get - git
tire - tar
boil - bawl or bol

Even a common one syllable name like Tim becimes Tee-yum. Or hill becomes hee-yul.

Why do southerners pronounce Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, ... as Sundee, Mondee, Tuesdee, but Today is pronounced correctly?

WTF honkeys? How are normal people supposed to not think that's ignorance?
I'm a big fan of the pressure assist toilets.

When we bought our house 20 years ago, all 4 toilets used the Flushmate tank insert.

We loved it so much, we've replaced each tank insert with a new model to keep a good thing going.

It's like riding a Harley. The flush is so satisfying and efficient. Our toilets are Gerbers. No complaints.

We are finally starting a dynasty football league for this upcoming season. I am pumped.

Although I'm not seeing anything about a vacancy, I still have some questions in the event I end up just starting a new league.

What are the rules you guys agreed to?

I'm interested in knowing how owners acquire new players? Can any minor leaguer be picked up as a free agent? Do you plan to have some form of annual draft?
After taking the plunge and embracing dynasty football, there's a void in my life that now needs the same thing in baseball.

If any of you guys knows of a vacancy in an existing league or are interested in starting a new one, let me know.
Anyone find a stream on X?

We had a girl last year streaming from her cubicle.

He was our next top target if Lane Kiffin fell through. Just finished the year 8-5 with back to back losses to Arizona and Duke.

Would have been an absolute failure of a decision if we would have brought him in.

19-8 over the past 2 seasons is better than:

Some guy:15-8 during his 2 seasons as head coach before coming to LSU
Another guy: 16-9 during his 2 seasons as head coach before coming to LSU
Another dumb SOB: 9-11 during his 2 seasons as head coach before coming to LSU

All 3 won national championships at LSU

How was he this year? I know he struggled alot last year but didn't watch a Tenn game outside of Georgia this year.

PFF graded him higher than any LSU lineman not named Braelin Moore.

Is Lane telling them to leave? Without having their replacements lined up?

I'm going with yes.

Every single one of them has lower PFF scores than almost half the offensive linemen in the nation.

I did not survive.

I'm curious as to how those "low viewership" games compared to similar matchups in a bowl game last year.

If it's similar, why would it be noteworthy? If it has more viewers, then it demonstrates that the expanded playoffs gave similar bowl games last year more meaning.
