re: Lower back pain - what to do next

it sounds like squats are in your routine, and that and deadlifts are what i attribute to my back strength improving

Ben Patrick has some side bend movements using dbs and a roman chair, perhaps try those

ive developed an informal morning practice of alternating b/n simply sitting on the floor and a deep squat for long periods, perhaps 45 minutes alternating back and forth while drinking coffee, reading, etc. I attribute much of my back health to this practice

ive not had to use it but have shared this soft tissue rehab protocol with others LINK

good luck
that used to happen to me regulary when younger. Out late drinking was my main hobby and my diet sucked. i loved to go out drinking, then meet my friends next morning for a big, hungover breakfast to drink coffee, eat a big stack of pancakes and reminisce. after every breakfast i had to run to the toilet and often saw what you describe. horrible life choices but i had to live em and get em behind me

diet and lifestyle changes cleaned all of that up for me. i think i may have celiacs or something i cannot handle all of that processed stuff. 90% of my diet is now grass fed beef (organs and everything) and farm eggs. supplement min one gal of water everday with redmonds sea salt and magnesium. many others but wont list. thats what worked for me
i used to have regular tweaks such as your describing. what strength movements do you regularly perform for the low back?

great info all. any recs on protection sleeves? i intend to put trees in my pastures and wont be able to watch after them very well
to date, ive never raised rent on an existing tenant. right now ive long term tenants, mostly. not all properties are equal in terms of attractiveness and therefore ease of keeping tenants. trying to build up the courage to do so and not lose great tenants. may not end up doing it tbh

start trees from acorns

Posted by aldawg2323 on 10/1/25 at 4:03 am
a friend starts live oaks in wet woodchips in a large container covered with plexiglass. a makeshift "hotbox". im trying it now with some red oak (i think) acorns

another friend has offered me to dig up and take oak saplings from under their oak tree. ive never tried this

any tips on both of these methods?
poor soils -> poor food -> poor nutrition -> poor health -> poor human performance . multiplied over a dz or so generations

electric fence on 48 acres

Posted by aldawg2323 on 9/23/25 at 12:20 pm
i started installing posts for corners and h-braces this weekend. intend to pull 3 strand electric on property boundaries between myself and my neighbor, and 4 strand barb wire with single strand electric on the road frontages. intermediate posts hopefully will be timeless fence posts. im not certain how to build the electric gates

any tips, tricks, recs? TIA!
my multi vitamin is grass fed and finished beef. however im gradually learning that i know less and less about the quality of the beef as most soils are mineral depleted, which grows mineral-poor grass and therefore low- nutrition beef. if interested start with Dr William Albrecht's writings

Regarding your vitamin intake i recommend grassfed and finished beef and pastured, farm - raised chicken eggs. And keep learning!
1 eat more protein
2 focus on the big compound lifts, especially if time is limited
3 drink at least one gallon of water with minerals every day
4 become a professional sleeper. eye shade, ear plugs, mouth tape, no alcohol, no screens after dark, blue light blockers after dark
first guy to hit 20 from each side. oh and he plays catcher. give us some context here! this sounds like one of the greatest accomplishments i recall

I never played catcher. given the seeming strain on the legs this seems amazing
there is a cardio vascular impact yes. i find it a great antidote to impacts from my sedentary career as an engineer and someone who spends a lot of time in a vehicle. it trains power and promotes hypertrophy in the posterior chain that gets weak and underused in a sedentary setting. glutes first, then hamstrings and back muscles. and they allow you to train speed while staying in one place, which is rare. for a former child and high school athlete i value that . try em, there are lots of great videos on proper and safe technique. it takes lots of practice
its a dozen smaller 3 point attachments for small 30 hp tractors, etc. im willing to use front end loader to set em on racks rather than keep on the ground. there just too much stuff on the ground. thanks

farm equipment and tool shelving

Posted by aldawg2323 on 7/6/25 at 5:49 am
im searching for industrial-type shelving to place on outside of a farm shop. this will be to hold scrap material, 3-point attachments, etc. i dont want all of this stuff on the ground. im picturing something like what you see in big box construction stores holding lumber, etc

does anyone have any ideas where to search for used items like this online? thanks
