re: Les Miles at LSU with NO SABAN

Posted by olegreg on 11/7/25 at 10:59 am to
Had Saban never wound up at ‘Bama after leaving Miami, realistically, lsu wins:
2011: no explanation needed
2012: only loss besides Bama was Florida 14-6. They scored when Minter came off the field. He had 20 tackles that game. Lsu makes it in with 1 loss.
2015: team gave up after the Bama loss. Agree with the statement that even with Saban, had we even had a competent passing game, we win that game and a title.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
While there are legit criticisms of Les, this drive shouldn't be one of them. Ive included the final LSU drive for those who don't remember how it played out.

Theres 2:43 left in the game when the offense lines up. Clemson has all 3 timeouts.

1st play: 2:43 left in the game, 1st and 10 on the LSU 39, 8 yard pass from Mett to Boone completed

2nd and 2: ball snapped at 1:58, Mett play action fakes to Hill, rolls out right, doesn't take time to set his feet and misses a wide open Landry, high. Had he thrown it anywhere that was catch-able and Landry falls right there, its a 5 yard gain; however, he would have had room to turn up field and pick up at least 10. It was a perfect play call that Mett didn't execute. Clock stops at 1:52.

3rd and 2: Mett drops back and the ball is batted down at the line. 1:47 left on the clock.

The first play worked out great. Complete for 8 yards, kept the clock running. The second play was perfect. Clemson expected the run, and would have led to a first down and Clemson using a timeout with 1:52 or less (depending on Landry gaining more yards). Then we could have run Hill 3 times to try and run out the clock and Clemson's time out. This one was on Mett, not Les.

Final LSU Drive
Derrick Henry was 6’ 3” and 247lbs for the combine.

Fournette was 6’ and 240.

Man, bringing back some memories.
I’ve still got them, front and center, with just a few others.

Currently one of my favorite pours.
The Bourbon is a decent pour, the rye is better, and the wheated is head and shoulders above both; definitely worth the price. It doesn’t drink like 121 proof, has a great nose and palate. I had to grab a backup bottle.

Looking for Fire bricks

Finally getting around to building my outdoor kitchen and fireplace. I need suggestions on where to purchase firebricks (need about 100) within a few hours of Baton Rouge. Local big box stores have them for over $3 per brick.
