I don't really have a preference between Nvidia and AMD, I was just a little more familiar with Nvidia.
The RAM is probably overkill and I am pretty clueless when it comes to the best brands.

The $1,500 is for tower/keyboard/mouse. I haven't done any research in kb/m though.
With respect to the monitor, I was planning on getting a 120hz/1080p monitor and maybe upgrading to a 1440p monitor later on.
I will use it to play a variety of games, but I'll probably still play a lot of the multi-plats on console due to the fact that none of my friends game on pc.
I guess as far as settings, primarily just 1080p and 60 fps. Like I said, I don't really know what I'm doing.

Hey guys, I was hoping someone could look at this build and help me out.

This would be used primarily to get into PC gaming, as I'm currently a console peasant. I just need something that would run most games at decent settings.
