No Tournament - .802 and 4.32 (did not make NCAA tournament)
2026 season - .880 and 5.69

our ERA of 5.69 sticks out. it's our worst in 40 years. in 2010, our team ERA was 5.56 and we lost in the regionals with a 41-22 record. We've only had 5 seasons in 40 years with a +5.00 ERA.

this 2026 team is on par with 2007
2007 season - .710 and 5.10 with a record of 29-26-1

Hitting under Paul Mainieri was below avg for the last 40 years, and Jay has mostly improved this. However, Mainieri's pitching was better with some exceptional seasons, and that's where we need to improve.

Mainieri - .812 and 3.88 (2007-21)
JJ - .920 and 4.51 (2022-26)

I agree. Short answer. We lost our top SP to MLB Draft & didn’t have 3 solid SP to keep it rolling. And misses on defensive evaluations. I trust Jay sees even more of the why, including early season scheduling & it will get fixed. We don’t have to like it. 2 things can be true at the same time.

Dale got caught paying off Lester Earl's dad truck loan after he lost his job and had his secretary give him some names and numbers to call for a new job. that's not exactly the same as "paying players".

however, at the very same time this was going down with Lester Earl, Notre Dame had 2 players who were paid 5-6x what the truck loan was and Notre Dame football got a slap on the wrist and we almost got the death penalty.

The ACC put out some content about the ACC tournament during conference tournament week. they did 1 episode on Coach K and he almost didn't make it at Duke. They wanted to run him out of their after a couple seasons and then, he had a big recruiting season and Duke started to become what we know it now. I heard T'Pear is very intelligent and we all know he can recruit. He was making progress when got let go. it will take a couple years, but the future is much brighter with General Pear back.

Meanwhile, Wade has losses of 41 to Louisville, 29 to both Duke & Virginia over last 5 weeks & a losing record vs SEC teams NC State faced this season.
