The offense was bad against UK and LSU, I submit that no O coordinator could have done better.

Think of it like this. Offensive coordinator X is hired by LSU and in 2011, LSU has the #3 scoring offense in the nation and #7 total offense with Zach Mettenburger leading the way.
It would be more like LSU being #16 in 2011 with Lee/Jefferson leading the way. And then adding Zach a year later.

If Malzahn went to coach Vandy and had an awful record over two years, then went to a football school and had a winning record would the turnaround be that be amazing?
Chizik won the Broyles Award
He coached three consecutive Thorpe Award winners, starting with Auburn's Carlos Rogers in 2004, followed by Texas' Michael Huff and Aaron Ross in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
He has always been a heck of a coach.
How much did S.Carolina Outbid Auburn by for Lattimore?

I wonder because:
There is absolutely no way a kid would want to play closer to home when another school is offering him atm cards and slot machine winnings on top of a pay check.
Even if he knew he was going to get more playing time, be more productive, and be on a team that would compete to play for the SEC title it is unfathomable he would not take such a lucrative compensation plan from Auburn.
What has me the most butthurt is when the kid pulled the S. Carolina hat out of the very bag which carried the Auburn's first installment to the very church he was standing in.
:dunno:

You Auburn fans amaze me. You cling to this notion like an infant to a blanket, but it's STILL AGAINST NCAA REGULATIONS TO SOLICIT.
on his behalf.
quote:
If Cam Newton tried to murder somebody and they lived, ya'll would be all over the board saying "Who cares if it's ATTEMPTED murder. If nobody dies, what does it really matter?"
No, but if Cecil tried to murder somebody, ya'll would want want Cam incarcerated even though he wasn't involved.
As for solicitation and amateurism in general. Picture a baseball player drafted by lets say the dodgers and deciding to attend an SEC school. Let's say that player says it will take 5 million for my son to play pro ball for you. They say no we can only pay you 3 million. He say no I would rather remain an amateur and pitch in the SEC.
Now I think it's terrible that Cecil solicited money (from a school) but please understand why Cam should still be an amateur and not ineligible. Especially, if he did not know what was going on.
Above is the difference between soliciting and agreeing to receive (SEC RULE).. I understand NCAA rule solicit on behalf too.
re: NCAA: Cam Newton Is Eligible to Compete

The SEC is indisputably boxed in by its own bylaw thanks to the NCAA ruling.
quote:
“If at any time before or after matriculation in a member institution a student-athlete or any member of his/her family receives or agrees to receive, directly or indirectly, any aid or assistance beyond or in addition to that permitted by the Bylaws of this Conference (except such aid or assistance as such student-athlete may receive from those persons on whom the student is naturally or legally dependent for support), such student- athlete shall be ineligible for competition in any intercollegiate sport within the Conference for the remainder of his/her college career.”
The intent of this bylaw was clearly written from the perspective of schools offering money to gain an advantage. If an athlete/family received or agreed to receive a benefit, they were guilty. Therefore, if the kid was caught before the transaction took place or if the transaction agreed upon fell through, he was guilty. Furthermore, if they had the evidence of the agreement (tape or witnesses), the SEC could enforce the rule without evidence of the actual transaction.
As reprehensible as it is, there is no unfair advantage created by a father soliciting money from an institution and not receiving anything. For Clay to read this rule a contrario does not make sense.
quote:
According to facts of the case agreed upon by Auburn University and the NCAA enforcement staff, the student-athlete’s father and an owner of a scouting service worked together to actively market the student-athlete as a part of a pay-for-play scenario in return for Newton’s commitment to attend college and play football. NCAA rules (Bylaw 12.3.3) do not allow individuals or entities to represent a prospective student-athlete for compensation to a school for an athletic scholarship. Cecil Newton cannot be telling the truth if the NCAA is correct in its statement.
Marketing the student does not equal representation if the kid does not know the parties are marketing him (not just being dad). I understand the argument that Cam probably knew but if he did not....
quote:
The crime of criminal solicitation
Clay gives the crime of criminal solicitation not the crime of what ever is being solicited. Generally, solicitation has its own statute for the same reasons Cam is not being held accountable for his father. Solicitation is not equal to agreeing to receive.
A contract class would spend a month on both offer and acceptance.
Further, It is an affirmative defense that the actor, after soliciting another person to commit a crime, persuaded him not to do so or otherwise prevented the commission of the crime, under circumstances manifesting a complete and voluntary renunciation of his criminal purpose.
Did his dad say bad idea, I screwed up? Cam, go to Auburn?
After quickly reading, my point at 3:20 without researching this is: It is not indisputable.

granted his father the power to determine which college he would attend shouldn't any actions of the father as authorized "agent" or representative of his son be an action attributable to Cam?
Being deemed an agent or does not mean an agent can act outside of the scope of his agency. e.g. Self Deal
A business owner often relies on an employee or another person to conduct a business. In the case of a corporation, since a corporation is a fictitious legal person, it can only act through human agents. The principal is bound by the contract entered into by the agent, so long as the agent performs within the scope of the agency.
A third party may rely in good faith on the representation by a person who identifies himself as an agent for another. If it is subsequently found that the alleged agent was acting without necessary authority, the agent will generally be held liable.

It's ok to shop players as long as you don't receive money.
It's not OK but if the school does not pay, it receives no advantage. If Kid is innocent how did he benefit?
If shopped and the school pays or agrees to pay their toast. If player receives benefit he's toast.
Neither happened at Auburn.

If AU had lsu or bama's receivers chizik doesn't approve the 4th and 3 pass. With Darvin Adams he does.

His dad wore the hat forward but he would come in to trooper's bedroom every morning and him kiss before he went to work. To kiss him his father would turn his hat around. One day when trooper was like 10 his dad went work and died and the last memory trooper has of his father is with his hat backwards.
