he was more or less a stranger, just seen him a few times around there. Anyhow, he was sporting a new Moo State shirt, and I asked him if was feeling relieved today about Meyer's decision to "stay". He said he was relieved, but this is what really stung. This guy has no idea I follow LSU sports, and his reply was as follows, "Well, whatever happens I at least know we won't have Les Miles coaching our team." I just sorta chuckled under my breath, and died on the inside a little bit. :(
This is exactly why the miserable zealots who call you names every time someone criticizes Les Miles need to understand -- it's them whgo are not supporting LSU!
It's them who are on the side of every other team in the conference in wanting Miles to stay!

A lot of people have asked me to pull back on the criticism of Miles (although I think most of those people are Alabama fans).
This legitimate rumor may be the best reason I can think of to do so.

Also that Crowton sucked very much this year.
Statistically, Crowton stunk it up more than Malveto or Tepper.
That is bad.
And because most coaches with similar stats would be fired.

actually the last two seasons have not been embarrassing from an offensive stand point...

play calling was not!
Yeah, the MSU DL knowing where we were running the ball on every play wasn't embarrassing and the weak side option wasn't embarrassing...and
Even if you're one of Crowton's sons or you mow his lawn, quit being such a douche about the whole thing
Reasonable minds could disagree about whther being ranked 40th in offense is embarrassing, but 107th is F-------g nightmare of embarassment.

Yes, he did after a bunch of message board threads like this one.
Probably worried about the crazies out there.
Why should he apologize
The guy can write anything he wants.

These are the same people who if you want nothing more than for Les Miles to stay at LSU for as long as possible.
Makes you wonder whose side the "posi-Tigers" are on.

as i said, if there isn't significant improvement next season, then i'm ok with letting crowton go. but i see the big picture. it's not just letting someone go. there has to be a viable replacement and those don't just grow on trees despite what college kids today think. the timing has to be right and that is something i trust miles with. regardless of what you think about crowton's stats this year, the offense was good enough to keep lsu in the elite of the sec. period.
Wait....wait...if there's not significant improvement next year, you're going to allow Miles to stay??? You're going to allow Miles to say, "hey, obviously another guy I hired is performing so poorly that I have to let him go. It's not me as a head coach, you understand, it's these morons I keep hiring as assistants."
Since you're willing to let go of Crowton next year, when we're ranked 118th (that's about what the trend predicts) -- you'll agree that some people could reasonably say, no he should go this year rather than taking the chance that he might not suddenly reverse that trend because we don't want to see LSU go 5-7 next year with a completely inept offense. That's fair, right?
The offense was good enough to what?
Dude, this team was much closer to being 6-6 than it was to winning one more game this year? You don't think we could have lost to Georgia, Arkansas or MSU???
This offense wasn't good enough for 9-3. We were lucky. Please understand that.

GO and tell them that Miles has to go.
And if not Miles, Crowton.

Unfortunately, the "he's our dumbass" mentality has a price.
re: The Ole Miss game cost LSU 3 spots in the polls
Posted by Reality Tiger on 12/16/09 at 12:35 pm to XbengalTiger
..but far more in national rep.
LSU had experienced the same time mismanagement problems in other games.
The fact that Miles finally addressed the issue proves that 1) he only responds to losses and resounding criticism and 2) that up until that point, they had never worked on it before.
Recruits don't have to go out of their way to find excuses for Miles. Mike Davis looks like the first to say, "hey wait a minute, something ain't right down there."

i've proven my point. no team wins every sec game. heck, saban lost to ulm, much less utah. if you were right, the biggest budgets would ALWAYS win. talent doesn't win in spite of coaching. RANT MYTH
No, dude -- you've gotten schooled about football.
NIck Saban lost to ULM -- are you rserious?
They've gone undefeated 2 of the last 3 seasons.
With a team that was 6-6 two years ago.
No one expects LSU to win every game.
But Miles isn't even close to that standard.

the point is that rantards can't have it both ways. the sec can't both be the best conference and lsu have a monopoly on talent which then covers up miles' failures. RANT MYTH.
No one said that.
Does LSU have the roughly the same talent as Alabama and Florida yes. Yet MIles is 0-4 in those games in the last two years.
But LSU has MORE talent than most of the teams in the league.
May this will help you understand.
