re: 7th year senior is the dumbest part of all this
Posted by hubertcumberdale on 1/9/26 at 7:31 am to Winston Cup
Most of these guys will never sniff the nfl and even if they did and were a later round pick, would make 5-6x more playing a year of college vs a rookie contract in the nfl. I know this is relatively new but this is the reality. The majority of college athletes, especially in football, will do anything they can to get all the eligibility they can bc currently college is paying significantly more than 90% of rookie contracts in the NFL
Eta: probably more than 90%, i pulled that number out my arse. But outside the first round, can’t imagine the nfl is more profitable than an upper classman playing an (extra) year in college
For reference, the Sorsby bro that was supposed to come to lsu got offered $3.5 mill by MMR to come to lsu and turned it down for $5 mill from Cody Campbell and Texas Tech (Double Eagle)
Brock Purdy got $2.4 mill for his first 3 years in the NFL (total, around $880k/yr). Not hard to figure why college football players are trying to milk eligibility as much as they can
And all this is assuming you will go the nfl, sign a rookie contract, be successful enough to get offered a new contract, and stick around to sign. It’s kind of a no brainer to try and play college as much as you can and get paid $$$

I was going to talk shite bc I thought Michael Irving was a top WR in terms of yards, hes #34 all time. Travis Kelce has more receiving yards than Michael Irving.
Side note, i had no idea Larry Fitzgerald was #2 all time and Jerry Rice was #1 by ~5,500 yards

Chambliss is about to be a top-5 draft pick. Yall are some idiots saying he's not
Yeah he’s looked really good in the games he has played, but how does he grade vs other QBs in his draft class? He wasn’t even the starter week 1. Has he done that well in the limited time he’s played to be a top 5 pick in this years draft? Honest question, i do not follow the nfl draft and future prospects that closely. That would be very impressive if he went from backup QB in Sept to top 5 draft pick in April.

The only question is does he enter the draft while his stock is sky high.
This is ncaa football in 2026, no one is going to be running off early to the nfl anymore unless they’re getting top money. These guys are getting paid way more to play in college than try to break out in the nfl on a rookie contract. I think Purdy got $2.6mm for his first 3 years in the nfl. Sorsby just got $5mm to play one season at Texas tech

I mean strictly economically speaking, Sorsby just got $5mm from Texas Tech to play one year. These guy would be idiots to try and go play in the nfl, they would make a fraction of what they’re gonna get paid to play another year in college than whatever their rookie contact would be, unless they’re going to be a top pick, which Chambliss would not be i assume.

It really wasn’t. Ole Miss sent 3 rushers and let him sit back with all the time in the world to do whatever he wanted. Can’t believe ole Miss got that scared

Yeah it’s easy for Miami when ole Miss sends 3 rushers the entire game and basically turns the game into a 7v7

Maybe you should look again. The fossil record emphatically does NOT show that. The gaps are bigger than the one in Michael Strahan’s front teeth.
That’s part of Myers very detailed argument. The majority of species groups seem to appear out of nowhere in the fossil record, and only then start to show microevolutionary changes in a very slow and calculable process.
Are you arguing the fossil record does not show life becoming more complex with time?

have you ever heard of the fossil record? how do you explain the progression of life from simple to complex in fossils within the geologic record starting at the Cambrian explosion until today?

Haven't seen this thread in here so decided to make one. Who do yall like?
Currently on Louisville -12.5. Toledo is missing their starting QB and two other NFL prospects on their defensive side of the ball, dont think they have the depth to keep up with the Cards. Game opened at -7.5 and jumped to -12.5 today
Not too sure about other two games (WKU vs Southern Miss and Ohio vs UNLV)

Give JMU their credit for not giving up and taking what Oregon was giving them. They could've been like Tulane and just laid down and died. They should be very proud of their team and season. They went to the other end of the country and gave it their best shot

I don’t understand why coaches don’t just go hard at these old quarterbacks early in the game. Hit them hard, hit them a little late if needed..just make them feel it.
esp if they are running open down the field all game while you only send 4, what do you have to lose by sending some blitz packages?
