see what happens when humans set aside politics and preconceived notions and just enjoy the sense of something else that is new to them? Great to see.
Not only did the letter say no go, but it was a carefully crafted and well thought out middle finger. Basically said he should be embarrassed for even asking.
I would throw the Mitch Rapp books in there as well - spy craft, black ops, political machinations. Vince Flynn wrote the first 10 or so then met an untimely death to cancer in his 40's. If you ask me the Kyle Mills written books after Flynn died are done seamlessly as well. Haven't read the last couple from yet another author.

I see some other good recs above and of course Clancy goes without saying though younger readers might see it as dated. Slow the Slough House books by Mick Herron. I'm a big Jack Carr fan, though I know he is kinda polarizing and some consider he drops too many brand specific gear references, though the guys cred is undeniable.

Read them in order. May seem dated a little bit with change in geopolitics, but they are all good reads. Cardinal is probably my favorite in the Jack Ryan universe. It's been a lot of years though since I read them. Good memories.
Read it in the matter of a few days. Loved the storyline with the dog. Took a break from my late to the party tear through the Mitch Rapp universe to read it. Hope we get more Chris Walker material. Loved the LSU references as well.
Always a red flag of some insecurities incoming when you see the honorific titular prefix Dr. and the letters denoting the professional degree after. One or the other or you are hiding something.

Thank you, but that is where the accident happened, my thought is that it might involve a crew from BAFB, I'm not military, but thought perhaps the plane and/or crew belonged to one of the two bases where those planes live.
awful...wonder which base, only two Minot or BAFB. Sad, my wife and I both know a ton of those families through our medical practices. Sorry to hear. Lots of young families with lots of young kids.
Djokovic is gonna have probably his last best shot for 25 at Wimbledon with Alcaraz out. We will see what kind of head space Sinner is coming back from RG. Ironically, the early round loss might well help him, at least from a purely physical standpoint. There is a reason why the Channel Slam has historically been difficult to achieve, though adding the extra week in between probably made it a tad less difficult.
haha, that is a WTA joint for sure.
not a big two tone guy though I do have a neo vintage 16233 with the champagne dial.

Going with this one today, good Sunday watch.

Most intelligent people can get out of jury duty. Most attorneys want "malleable" jurors.

I agree with this based on the last time I was in the pool and went through voir dire. The way some of the folks answered questions from the lawyers AFTER explicit instructions showed either lack of attention or sheer simplicity of intellect and they still got picked.

Also think "professional" jurors would be rife for corruption of the most insidious kind (ie lobbyist type of influence).

Cobolli coming back, third set going to be crucial.

And Z looking like his usual big game self in the second with the double fault and FH errors. Both guys best chance perhaps ever to win a major, maybe Cobolli's only chance.

just flew both ways to over the Atlantic last month on a brand new AA 787-9. It was a nice plane, very comfortable. I hate to hear this.
16610 - Sub Date...the one that started my obsession back in 1989.

embarrassed that I thought of the more complex solution and not this. Worked like a charm. Thanks for the replies.

Table leg foot repair help...

Posted by BigPapiDoesItAgain on 5/31/26 at 11:02 am
Daughter (no pics) moved into a new house, has an antique round table that has decorative wooden balls as feet attached to the legs. One of the balls was broken off in the move - its evident from the pics that ith has been jury rigged in the past as a quick fix. I'm not cheap, would be happy to pay a pro (or for her to pay a pro), but we live in a different city, so don't even know where to start with reputable shops. Daughter is a busy professional. Either taking it to a shop or coordinating with someone to come get it is difficult.

I think the solution to the problem is sand off the old glue where the ball is broken, drill a hole in the ball, and insert some type of threaded rod, and screw in a matching threaded insert into the table leg so it can be screwed back on securely.

I"m handy, but not a wood worker. There may be some specific set of screw or screws that fits this application, but google gave me way too many choices and I'd like to home in on something that is the actual right bit for the job. Any recs would be much appreciated.

This place holds a special place in my heart. That was a classic. Hard not to root for the kid as this one went on. Hell of a fight by Novak, hell of a fight.
That is one city where the pronunciation is nowhere near the way it is spelled. Odd even for the French. Beautiful city with a striking history spanning so many eras, not to mention the heart of Champagne country.
