re: Who's your favorite 20th Century LSU football player?

Ron Sancho was my next door neighbor. Second in career sacks at LSU.

This guy feel like LSU shouldn't be in the conversation in 1908, although the National Championship Foundation did vote LSU as co-champs with Penn. He feels it should have been Harvard, who was voted national champs by Billingsly.

Come on. Pretty much the same BA, though Bregman had more hits, but less power. Defensively, he more than made up for it. From Wiki - In 2013, he batted .369/.417/.546 with 104 hits (second in the nation), 18 doubles (third in the SEC), seven triples, six homers, 52 RBIs, 59 runs, and 16 steals in 17 attempts, and had a 23-game hitting streak.[8][13][36] Bregman won the 2013 Brooks Wallace Award as the country's best college shortstop.[37] He was also voted first-team All-American by Baseball America, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), Perfect Game, and the Jewish Sports Review. In addition, he was named the 2013 National Freshman of the Year by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), and was voted 2013 SEC Freshman of the Year and first-team all-SEC by the league coaches.[8][13][38][39][40] Moreover, he was named 2013 ABCA First-Team All-South Region, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Baton Rouge Regional Most Outstanding Player, Louisiana Freshman of the Year, and SEC Player of the Week (March 25, 2013), and named to the 2013 USA Collegiate National Team (for which he batted .361).[8][41]

2010 Alabama. Besides being a great game, I had stadium club seats and brought my brother-in-law. It was his first time in Tiger Stadium. He died a couple of years later, so it was a great memory.

After watching all the games again over the quarantine, LSU defense had not hit their stride yet in that game. If these teams had played just three games later, it would have been a much different outcome.

I’ve seen video ad nauseum on both! I watched Finley twice in HS. WTF would I know, I been critiquing QBs since Yelberton Tittle in the 1940’s.
Dang Pokey. Hell of a rant for a hundred year old man at 12:42 am.

I have a daughter who is a senior this year. I still remember Kristin Nuss playing against her in soccer. Girl was a beast, playing soccer and basketball and maybe volleyball as well. She's had a great career at LSU. Wonder if she's planning to make a go at the AVP tour?

Best thing I ever saw was a pig being roasted, but they added a loin for a trunk and fashioned skin from another pig into ears. Meant to look like a baby elephant. Used to have a pic, but lost it.
re: Won't mention the name but a former LSU WR has 96 receptions at his new school.

Y'all are making me feel old. I played ball for his grandfather in high school. Great coach. He went on to coach at McNeese and the school that is now ULM.

He does seem to throw into coverage quite a bit. That'll get him picked three times.
re: Another poor showing by Dennis Shaver's track program...

No college had more athletes make the NCAA tournament as LSU. Can't say I can blame Shaver.
I want to know why we never have distance runners. Is it the heat? Not conducive to training?

The loss to Bama had to be tough for Minnesota. That umpire blew two strikes in that last at bat. Tough to be fair when the Bama fans are yelling at you 6 feet away.
re: Any LSU fans pulling for Bama???
Posted by MikedeTigre on 12/31/16 at 10:19 pm
Pretty simple from my viewpoint. I pull for most of the SEC teams, but not the ones who recruit heavily in Louisiana. Alabama is the worst and the more games they win, the more 4 and 5 stars they sign and we don't.

Don't read every post, so this may have been discussed, but why not Applewhite to LSU?
re: ESPN pumping up LSU, Herman pay attention.

And based on that story, he's not even making $7MM. More like $5MM and interest on a life insurance policy.
re: An offense more suited to JJ's strengths.

Agree with that. Give him time to mature. His 62% and only 7 INT's was better than Mauck's 56% and 11 INT's in 2007. OK, he had only 17 TD's to Mauck's 21. Still, a 19 yr old sophomore compared to a 22 yr old senior. Give the kid a chance to mature like the last two LSU Nat'l Champion QB's.

You're right. I double checked and I had gotten the Jackie Robinson Ballpark, not Jackie Robinson Stadium.

The capacity is 4200, not 1250. But I'm sure much of that is sitting on the grass. It is a shame, though, that we couldn't pick up one more win, which should have given us a better record than 3 of the host schools.
